1. Before, corruption ring put mystic in combat mode.
2. Before, mystic had to shoot out team buff skill.
3. Long before, mystic didn't have endurance debuff skill. BHS added debuff on curse skill. When it first came out, debuff duration was shorter than priest. It requires 3x stack for 9% endurance debuff.
5. Priest's fiery escape doesn't have iframe. Mystic's teleport has longer distance than priest backstep. Sometimes, priest has to turn camera angle for iframe. Priest iframe is little bit longer than teleport.
6. BHS shouldn't make mystic so OP with healing. Mystic can vow on 2 people + mystic self in every 7~8min.
6. Mystic healing amount is par or better than priest, Mystic solo alot faster than priest, Mystic's Vow is OP, Normally, Mystic is out of combat mode, Mystic doesn't have to shoot team buff skill(energy star), Mystic's endurance debuff time is much longer than priest. Mystic's self healing is better than priest. Mystic's buff is aura. So, doesn't have to use on each rezed team member. Mystic's thrall of life doesn't get stun or hit anymore. It's as good as Kaia.
Assume dps has 180 power with charms and etc. but without Priest buffs or ES/TW. (this is a typical value for SF/Imp geared players with optimal rolls)
Priests offer:
Shakan buff = 25 Power ~= +9% dps
Energy Stars Power portion = 48 Power ~= +17% dps
Energy Stars Attack Speed = 10 Attack Speed
Triple Nemesis = 10% endurance debuff
Mystics offer:
Crit Aura = 2.1x base crit ~= +8~12% dps depending on class (rough estimate, due to different base crit factor and availability of bonus crit chance/factor glyphs that diminish the value of additional crit factor)
Titanic Wrath Power portion = 40 Power = +14% dps
Titanic Wrath Attack Speed = 6 Attack speed
Volley of Curses = 9% endurance debuff
Contagion = 5% endurance debuff @ 30% uptime ~= effectively 1.5% endurance debuff
This suggests that their ability to increase the party's damage is approximately equivalent (Priest might even be stronger), all things isolated. The thing that really shifts the balance is the fact that you can get the Shakan buff in the Mystic party. If BHS could change Titanic Wrath back to how it works originally (i.e. overwrites Shakan), they should be more balanced in terms of offensive support. Priests and Mystics could then be differentiated using the old defensive vs. offensive role defined in the past. Priests with higher protective and healing (facilitating the skipping of some mechanics too), while Mystics can act as off-dps along with their thralls.
If anything these changes are wholly beneficial 'cause it made a heck ton of people roll Mystics and actually learn how to play them/what their skills do, balancing out the bloated priest population.
Though I am looking forward to the mp changes for the Priest buffs, rezzing continually has always been a mana guzzler understandably but when you gotta rez and then pop those two buffs after as well it's like damn, where dat mp at tho... Sarberry Ice time.
so...? i still dont think priests should be out of combat all the time... but i agree with mystic being out of combat all the time...
i dont get your point... i agree with mystics being better than priests.
priest has been top healer since the beginning of the games creation. let mystic have some time in the sun
You have people whining about how crap priests are, others happy at the fact mystics out class priests for a change, the absolute dismissal of priests having problems because double healer composition is a thing and then there's the complete disregard that there's actually an imbalance between the two healers.
Each class has its pros and cons and BHS is working to reduce the gap between the two, along with the discouragement of double healer compositions; as the last patch notes have stated.
As for some of the proposed changes (mostly by dinners), I hope they never see the light of day. Move forward, don't let the solutions to a class be what were their main problems in the past. Afterall that was the cycle of things for mystic, two steps forward, one step back - for a very long time.
The only issue that exists between the two classes is the damage potential a mystic offers VS a priest. Everything else falls down to your preferred play style.
No it hasn't. It has had a monopoly on safety nets and throughput until a little while ago, but it all depended on the quality of the group and the specific dungeon mechanics as to which was preferred. In fact, the reason Priests are even remotely as good as they are offensively, right now, was because of the perceived (and realistic) view that Priests were inferior to Mystics. Ironically, the same has happened with healing and support for Mystics, mostly because of those previous changes to Priest.
If you look at the content that each change was pretty much based on, you can draw correlations (and possibly causation) to nearly every knee-[filtered] reaction BHS has had in attempting to balance the two healing classes with each other, game mechanics (like the ridiculous amount of crit and power on skills/gear) and dungeon mechanics.
The question to ask is should one class be superior to the other in different aspects, or should they both be balanced in all aspects? Should difficulty play into the possible difference and be rewarded as such?
lol. funny joke, my dudes. how long you've been playing? a month?
Since CBT4. Priest was preferred in KN, didn't matter much in FoK/BT, lost briefly in MC HM and then came back with a bang when KN20 was released. From there on, mystic was literally in the gutter to the point where priests would just drag a mystic alt through raid dungeons for auras(if they could even be bothered). Priest remained the hands-down best support until TW was buffed and fixed to overwrite Shakan at which point the two were on even ground.
A Mystic was wanted. Otherwise you usually had 2-3 Priests in KN20. From what I've seen from LFG since Mystic buff is that everyone wants a Priest and Mystic, which I don't see a problem with.
?
Mystics were always taken to raid dungeons(more or less, if one was even available) and the mote "thing" was "fixed" so very fast but what I meant was, KN20 was the patch that buffed priests massively(some needed, some a bit of an overkill). MC HM was, like, the only dungeon were, for a long time, mystics were absolutely preferred. Thrall/Totem on first boss, Queen immune to TN, Shakan being the exact same buff as TW, crit rate being significantly harder to come by than it is now while ES still had the small radius that barely reached outside the queen.
