It's been over a year since the first Costume Contest. Is another one planned? Could it be?

Better yet would be one to design armor IMO, since it's been a good while since we had new armor designs/fashions that were for classes other than the new one.

Given the previous costumes from community contest didn't get really popular I doubt there would be another one soon.

Right, because everyone hated the Gothic Medley on Elins, it's not like it's one of the cutest costume they ever had

Good thing it was an elin only costume, right?

The biggest problem with the last costume contest was that it had an extraordinarily narrow theme- it had to be Victorian Gothic. There's not a lot of options for design when you have a guideline that specific. A much more open-ended costume contest would be well received, I think, and potentially allow for more than one winner to have their costumes put into the game. If it's something that has a lot of support, maybe we can bring it up to EME and have them put it to BHS...

The male costume though, wasn't the original design sort of a semi-long coat? And the end product was just a regular jacket. Looked so much better in the design.

Well, not everyone likes the fashion of the 1840s, but the Victorian Gothic style was not meant to be cute or tacky like many of the elin costumes we have, which is probably why it got so much hate on it. The designs are made to be very elegant, fancy, glamorous and royal.

As for the male costume, @Acendia BHS tried to keep the design true to what the artist concept was. They did a good job at that part in my opinion, but i suppose, as this happens all the time, in order to make the costume fit into TERA and avoid any issues like the cape glitch or costume parts not rendering, they had to make small changes to the design.

Here is the initial concept of the male costumes:

And here is the final form in game:
    Large_screens_Gothic_Swagger.jpg

You could say, that the final product ended up being a trench coat instead of a semi long coat. The design however stays true to the initial concept. All they did was shorten the coat a bit.

But going back to the OP:
My idea of a new costume design contest would be something like this:
For a limited time, integrate once again the remodeling system into TERA and give the players a span of time to create a totally new Fashion Costume with the already existing armor models in game. For this event, each part of the armor (gloves, chest and boots) can be dyed individually and to add more uniqueness, make each detail of the selected armor (Glove, chest and boots) that were previously not dyable, dyable for the sake of creativity. Each player can submit their creation and a certain amount of winners will get their creation selected and added to the Fashion Coupon shop for everyone to buy, plus receive some kind of prize in the form of maybe rare items or EMP. Players will be able to keep their creations regardless if they were selected among the winners or not.

I understand that this may sound a bit crazy, considering the remodeling system is not anymore compatible with our current version of TERA, but it could be a fun event that will allow everyone to participate, not just people with artistic skill.

Additionally, EME could request to BHS to create like, a blank armor maybe? Like, you equip the armor in the Fashion Slot for costume, but nothing happens, until you combine it with different parts of armors, and Presto! you have a new fashion look! Wishful thinking again.
