Imperator Gear

Hi, I have my Brawler, finally with +12 Slaughter set, and I see so little improvement in terms of power with the Dreadnought set, maybe it's just me, or I'm not so good, I don't know, the numbers seem higher than before that's for sure but for some reason BAMs dying very slow, and I see other players with Dread set to actually beat them faster than me. = mathematically this is not possible at all =, and yes, I do all of my skills, I stun them occasionally with the kick, and I keep hitting them hard with no room to let them escape or hit me and I block 95% of the time very good with perfect defense. I can solo Hydraths very easy and it won't take too long, but I still see people - different classes though - beating them faster than me. So, what gives? Are they using infusions or something like that? I only use buffs from TR bot guy.

And I was wondering, is there any place instead of Sanguinary to farm or get at least the Imperator Weapon? Though, for a tier 10, it's stats are pretty low imo. Even as +15 it gives roughly around 12k atk, is it even worth to bother with Imp gear?

VM series weapons ussually are useful for more than one patch, from that point od view farming imperator gear little by little is a good move in the long run, they only thing you might find difficult to get is the design for your weapon since the drop rates are rather low (in some servers this is partly because of how few groups capable of clearing SSHM and DSU there are).

However, if you wonder if getting the imperator set is a "must" then no, slaughter +12 is enough for everything (except, perhaps for DSU), but if you want to surpass its performance then getting a +15 starfall weapon and gloves if a far cheaper option right now. Regarding your "clear" times with IoD BAMS, to help we would need to know your gear stats, whether you're keeping Growing Fury on and other stuff.
  • My gear is a full +12 Slaughter set, Blood earrings/rings, fine hardy niveots x4, fine wrathful, fine focused, fine pounding, fine threatening niveots, and 2 keen vyrsks and 2 pristine powerful zyrk. Basically I'm trying hard to follow this guide up. http://www.essentialmana.com/brawler-pve/#glyphs

I see. If you're going with the standard rolls mentioned in the guide the first thing you can do is removing the threatening niveot from your weapon, contrary to what its effect migh sound like, it doesn's help you to keep monsters enraged, the purpose of threatening crystals is to help you keep bosses' attention on you whenever you're in a party (and for a brawler it's mostly a safety net in case you have a DPS player in the party constantly taking aggro away from you). Instead, as you're solo'ing BAMs in IoD then you can replace it with either a second pounding or a carving niveot, depending on how high is your crit rate (check your character's profile window).

Dungeon/PvE hunting parties = threatening crystals can be helpful (only if you have aggro problems).
Solo PvE hunting = damage crystals.

Now, while brawlers have an innately high crit chance built it, IoD monsters are also incredibly resistant to critical hits, to compensate this you should try getting the 4 keen vyrsks and consider using either 3 shadowvain + 2 bloodvain accesories, or 3 shadowvain + 2 corvette accesories, this should help you get crits landing more consistently and reduce the time it takes you to finish the fight.

These are measures you can try for a start, you can also check the type of consumables you're using and perhaps getting cheap etchings (any ephemeral atching would do for IoD). Give it a shot and see if there's an inprovement!

First. It's a combination of gear, rolls, crystals, glyphs, and what you do in a fight. As a brawler soloing, you will want damage and crits. Crit jewelry and crystals. You have slaughter so you can add keen etch 2's there too for weapon and glove. And, as many people say around, keep growing fury up as much as you can.

And yeah. Threatening is just for aggro, not to enrage. Bams enrage naturally or through a specific enrage skill. So as crystals go, 4 keen, a focused, a wrathful, a carving and a pounding since you are a tank class and brawlers I suppose have a hard time getting to the back of a bam. BUT if you can go behind a bam easily, go for back crit crystals Savage and Bitter instead of wrathful and pounding.

The reason why you see people even in DN killing faster than you is because of their back crit setups and approach. IoD bams have greater front crit resist and are weak to back crits.

Get some crit around 200 + and use slaying, furious, wrathful, focused.
  • Everyone pretty well covered what you should change out as far as crystals and accessories are concerned. Something that just caught my eye was playing down the VM weapons. Even if the attack values are similar, there's a 4th bottom enchant slot and the 13-15 +6% PvE damage bonus. Minimally it's 12% extra damage for having that weapon, which isn't small. VM gloves additionally provide a % damage increase, but I can't remember what it is at the moment.

As far as buffs go, there are Nostrums and Onslaught scrolls that elite players get basically for free in addition to free charms (You can buy them as well). Nostrums reduce your CD's by 15% and the onslaught scrolls make your crits hit 1.42 times harder, which is another good reason to invest heavier into crit builds.

Done right Brawler should kill IoD bams among the fastest, if not the fastest, of all the classes on average just on account of not really having to avoid anything and being able to block the aggravating "road kill" BAM running us over BS.
  • Thank you all so much, I'll try to keep these in mind then and do what I can to improve my build better.
