    I enjoyed GW2's heart system.

guild war quest to level up
  • I really like the story quest of DragonNest, it has a lot animation, better than read words.
  • For minor quests I would like thousands of them throughout the world and make them automatically scale to your power
Skyrim uses this system, and GW2 has something similar.
The advantage is you never run out of content or things to do once you reach "endgame" as the whole world becomes your endgame.

Over the years Tera has been systematically removing minor quests in an attempt to get people to max level as fast as possible.
I think they should put them all back and make them scale.

I like having a billion different quests available, some repeatable, some essential storyline, some side storyline (faction type stuffs), some just randomly spawning stuff... quests for loot, quests for xp, quests for advancing in a faction, quests just for the sake of questing, unlocking new skills, etc. The more the better. I'd also like them to be more creative than just "gather 10 of this" or "kill 20 of that" or "talk to this guy over here", etc. And I'd like most if not all of them to be completely optional. That way people who want to quest can quest, and those who don't, don't have to.

In my opinion, RuneScape has the best quests, more similar to something you'd find in an Elder Scrolls or Fallout title. The higher your levels and quest progression, the more complex and epic storylines you'll find yourself in. The rewards also tend to be really unique stuff that allow you to do things in-game that otherwise you can't, for example items that make you teleport around easier, discounts in certain places, new contents and skills, plain useless but fun stuff, etc. They are very immersive, and way more than the average MMO of just "collect X, kill Y, talk to Z". Overall, they can be very interesting, something most MMOs lack.

That kind of quests absolutely wouldn't work in a game like Tera though, for one because it's a different genre of MMO. That kind of quests also require very dedicated people working on writing, graphics, sound, etc, it's a huge time and money investment, and Bluehole has other priorities and game design philosophy.

Runescape absolutely had the most interesting and rewarding questlines I've seen in an MMO. They rarely felt like a chore and the rewards generally matched the effort needed to complete them. Most of the quests were story driven and, as Banim said, not the typical "kill x of y" quests in most MMOs. It's a shame there aren't more MMOs with quest systems like that.

I noticed this when I came back about three month's ago.

And my god, and the xp events. I swear, there's so many happening in succession (and lasting so long) that it should just become the default amount.

P.S. Are we in an XP event right now? I've kinda lost track, but it did feel like one of my newer characters hit level 20 a little too fast..

P.S.S RIP Island of Dawn tutorial. I really enjoyed the Bomb-trainer NPC.
"YES, I AM THE TRAINING INSTRUCTOR FOR BOMBS! HOW DID YOU KNOW?"
Just a feeling, friend. Just a feeling.
