How would TERA run on my PC?

Hey, so I'm currently building a new PC, and I was wondering how TERA will run on it, the specs are as follows:
i5 6600k 3.5ghz quad-core,
Geforce GTX 1070,
16gb DDR4 ram clocked at 3000mhz

Tera is not optimized, at least not very well. You'll get great framerate standing alone out in the wilderness somewhere, but anywhere else the framerate will be noticeably worse. Even if you have a super computer from the future, you won't be able to brute force the potato performance of Tera. Having said that and to answer your question, Tera will run great on your machine, but not as well as it should, especially in populated areas. Your machine isn't at fault.

Search for this term to find how to help your issue. 'Bernkastel's TERA Optimization Guide'
  • What sort of FPS do you think I can expect while running end-game dungeons? And do you think TERA would run alright if I had all the settings maxed out?
  • Beastly computer but Tera will run it like every other comps. Kinda [filtered] and no amount of hardwares thrown at it will help. But even with that being said, you should be able to run smoothly as long as you can accept that there will be some dips here and there and the game will bugged at some point.

There's a few issues I think have not yet been fixed for max settings. Lurid display and Aerial should stay at 1 (from a max of 2). People reported lots of frame rate issues that were solved by keeping those two at 1. Other things to do are to go with liquid cooling for your CPU. A sealed solution is a good choice, like Corsair's Hydro series. Also playing the game in full screen has given people some boosts in performance. The game can throttle to your monitor's refresh rate that way as well, avoiding extra heat by removing unnecessary high frame rate.

@Nopi have a 144hz monitor, so perhaps I should add an FPS cap of like 60 for TERA?

I'm on an old monitor so all I get is 60 fps. In your case you'd have to test how it runs best. Just make sure to monitor your cpu and gpu heat.

You'll get 30~100 fps max settings between combat and being idle. I have a 6600k, half your ram set to 2,700 and a gtx 960 and that's what I get. You might drop lower for some things, such as for me, not sure why, but if I play Brawler and start Growing Fury my fps is really bad for the entire duration. I do get some freezes and other issues, but I believe that's an issue with my gpu anyways.

    Terable!
  • It will probably run a lot better on yours than it does on mine.

I play on an i3 @ 3.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM and *cringe* integrated graphics.

At 0 graphics preset, I average about 10-15 fps in open world and low single digits in dungeons / populated areas.

I'm not an expert on computers by any stretch of the imagination, but based on most of what I've read, TERA runs best on overclocked i5's with NVIDIA graphics cards, so you should be pretty good with that setup. :+1:
  • @WolfieYu At what settings do you play on and what's your min, max, and average FPS in the wilderness, in populated areas, and in dungeons?
  • @WolfieYu Oh, that does sound pretty good. I'm not sure how my CPU/GPU compare to yours, though.
  • My Specs:

    CPU:i7 6700
    Ram:32 Gb DDR4 2666 Mhz
VGA: Asus strix GTX 1080 O8G

    Velika fps: 45-60
    Highwatch fps: 40-50
    5 person dungeon: 40-70 fps
