Though I make etching for a living I have to ask you...how many times a day can you run GG?
Iirc even then embers aren't guarenteed drops.
Just a correction: Embers are a guaranteed drop, and combat panacea also drop 100% of the time.
GG also gives MWA and goldfinger tokens.
If you do the math GG have the best ratio gold_from_items/time_spend

RG had everything even everything came from one spot kept prices low. Now majority of players do DSU BG's and SSHM or MM to farm materials for what they want. They do not do what is known as lower tier things like GG to get these items it doesn't yield as much to them. The only thing it yields that one of the previously listed methods doesn't have is titan's embers.
Most people find that reward not worth and find GG boring as hell as it is not challenging and doesn't give good enough rewards to be worth to them. But this makes etching 3 prices go through the roof.
Because people do other sources to make money making the price of most other materials go down and keeping etchings higher in price. To fix this you have to put titan embers in the drop table of the dungeons people do to get better gear, like SSHM and MM and Battleground boxes (all of them not just the least played battleground Gridiron) and not enough people spam FWC to be a substantial reward after vanguards to supply the market.
No matter what you say about percentages as dev's said from are supposed to be same chances between armor and weapon etching 3s. If enough titan embers are in the market the price will be lower, like in RG the price was 40k or less.
Look at it this way, the only supplier of Titan embers is EME that holds loot table rewards. They put it in one of the least run dungeons that active players do to advance to more end game content GG. GG does not drop any vm7 or vm6 materials. It does not drop feedstock, it doesn't give you vanguards.
You need to put Titan embers in loot tables that people will GET TITAN EMBERS WITHOUT AIMING FOR JUST TITAN EMBERS. So people that DON'T WANT TITAN EMBERS put them into the market while these people still advance in gear.
No, I don't think anyone expects to see 40k weapon etchings ever again, like during RG days. Our economy's too inflated for that now after years without a gold sink. But making Embers more easily obtainable certainly does drive the price of etchings down, and actually makes it feasible to craft t3 etches yourself if you have the recipe. With the shortage we have now, it's just not worth it.
But of course, neither EME nor BHS is going to do anything to fix it. They had a fix (which we waited 9+ months for because EME couldn't be hassled to come up with a solution), and removed it a few months later for whatever stupid reason they have. EME didn't bother to request a simple tweak to put them back into vanguards, so here we are. Ruined etching economy that just needs a simple fix and yet won't get one.

Etch 3 is luxury a really posh one, the only reason one wants etch 3 is to put it on current VM weapon (then gloves, then rest).
You guys don't wanna put etch 3 on Strfall now, do you? Cos that would be a huge waste.
So you are ready to spend 1.5-2.5M on Imperator weapon only and whining here about miserable 200k?
Crafting and enchanting the best gear should be where the most of your gold, time, and effort go. If I were to either farm or pay for an etching I would spend more gold/time/whatever on that then I did getting the weapon in the first place.
You are doing math wrong.
I do wonder what will happen to etchings when the alchemy-killer patch hits and gathering becomes pretty much worthless.
