Reaper Rotation

edited July 2016 in PvE Discussion
I havent been playing for a while and was wondering what the current best reaper rotation would be?
Considering Sundering gets a 20% boost after Spiral now, rotation surely changed?

Shadow Reaping rotation is still the same? Or would it be wise to use the following now : Pendulum - Whipsaw - Grim - Spiral - Sunder - Repeat?

Assuming your using Nostrum + 7,2% CDR stat on weap ofc.

    You can use Sunder after Spiral. Shear, or Grim and it will get the boost. Rotation doesn't really change.

    Rotation is still the same, the new spiral->sunder chain helps if you somehow manage to screw it up or if you get interrupted (I think it also helps the spacebar slam plebs)
  • Normal rotation is the same. I wonder about shadow reaping though, since the "slaying" rotation is stronger now (thanks to powerlinks persistenc).

    this is my rotation lJoeNhl.jpg remember to set ur powerlinks and dont use spacebar use the buttons you have assigned to ur bar

    lets say i'm going to verno, i start out with 8 (shadow reaping) and then do 1-4 over and over and once i'm getting half way thru the shadow reaping time i do 5-7 until i runs out and then once its out i do 1-4 and then mouse 5 (cable step) and f2 and f3 then rotate that back to 1-4 5-7 shadow reaping once the cd is over etc etc

    1. spiral -> sunder ->spiral ->double shear -> grim
    2. pend -> whip -> smite ->spiral -> sunder combo again.
    3. hook ->burst - not too much

    Basicially, it's 1 and 2. Pend strike and Hook for positioning.

    You don't have to chain Sundering from Spiral to get the 20% damage bonus, chain it from anything and it works. Redstrike's guide is still 99% relevant.

    There are so many things wrong with this setup.

    It's unnecessary to glyph iframes, no dungeon requires it. Whipsaw debuff only works in TSNM and pvp. Grim Strike reset is mandatory, as is Shadow burst casting speed + cooldown and pendulum cooldown. Shadow Lash cd works better than mp replenishment

    The 20% damage increase on sunder applies when you chain it from anything. Therefore, keep doing the rotations that are listed on Redstrike's Reaper guide. Be extra skeptical of any advice you get unless it comes from his guide.

    @Digivolve well, i do great with this set up. i dont need to change it once i go into pvp. there really isn't anything wrong with my set up. what you call wrong is just "waste". there isn't anything else useful to glyph. i have 55/55 and some of those things aren't for dungeons

    EDIT: i tried dreadspire lower with redstrikes guide... way less dps, i felt broken using those glyphs

    @navjack27 what is "great" to you?

    If you use his glyphs and master the skill priority system you should do more DPS than w/e you're doing now.

    Unless someone proves otherwise, redstrike's guide is optimal. Believe what you want though, ofc.
  • here i'll prove not one way or another

    @navjack27

    First I will say: You said your setup works great for you, so keep using it. I'm not trying to say what you should/shouldn't do.

    As for if your setup has more dps potential than Redstrike's, I say this:

    I noticed your jewelry, etchings and gear rolls are not optimal. Also, I noticed you used pend-whip-cable-smite twice in a row during reaping on the first boss you showed. Maybe not intentional, but also not optimal.

    I did not watch after that. I'm sorry, maybe the rest was flawless.

    Idea: I have the same weapon as you and +12 SF gloves, so our DPS potentials are not too different. We can't account for our individual skill, but we can compare parses if you'd like. Any boss with any consumables/party comp. Purely for informational purposes, no malicious intent.

    That'd be a (mostly) fair way to see which setup is more potent.
  • yeah i'd be down for that.

    about the jewelry, yeah i've been called out about that before, for now i'm just letting the RNG stay where it is instead of using what little semi i have or could buy (all my resources go into guild bank to help friends equally).

    i hear this whole optimal thing a bunch from people. what i'm running now is optimal for my style and situations. if i was given the modification toolbar that GMs have and could just spawn in things with whatever rolls i wanted of course i'd have things totally perfect... i know what perfect is but knowing and willing to take the risk just to totally screw everything up if the randomness don't go your way are two different things.

    yeah i made a couple of skill mistakes here and there and i got better with it as i played more... making that video was the first tera i played today (yesterday)

    i did about 5-8 DFNM runs that day in total by days end. some of them i used nocs and camaphora. some i didn't noc and just used bravery. each one was cross server matched in some way and i was consistently the top dps on every boss. if i was more optimized i'd start thinking the game was broken in some way ALSO i'd have more reason to keep thinking that the entirety of the tera population that instance matches is brain dead in some way... but that is off topic for this discussion. if i could just have twins of me as the dps when i run dungeons with a mystic and a lancer i'd be in my glory!

    What is it that you were trying to prove?
  • Sorry to say that but you're pretty awful at reaper.
