Question about Classes

So I've played numerous MMOs like Shaiya, WoW, ESO and now I am looking to get into TERA.

So far I have 3 classes:
Brawler - 15
Berserker - 14
Gunner - 19

I spent about two hours on each class and I am wondering what people here recommend.

A lot of people are saying "Oww.. Just play the class you like :pleased: " which seems reasonable. But that is what I plan todo in the future.

Should I try to level up my gunner to 60+ for farming purposes or just leave my gunner at level 40 so I can try out reaper.

I've always wanted to play priest or mystic, but from level 1 they seem so weak and finding a party is crazy difficult. So should I try to make a priest or mystic and level up slowly?

Thanks.

  • Hi! I play reaper and I LOVE IT! I wasn't that good but I've practiced and gotten better. Attack animations are epic, and the overall flow of it is satisfying. You have a stun move and a big move that knocks down. I also have a 50 archer which I enjoy, but not nearly as much. I also played gunner at one point. It's pretty good. Almost too good it's boring. I've never played brawler, but I've had much experience with it in PvP. Very annoying at times. So if you like over powering people with your combos, go ahead. Berserk I know nothing about besides it is very difficult to play, but rewards greatly if you learn how to play it well. Cheers!
  • Thanks I'll try out reaper once I hit 40 :)
  • Priest and mystic are not that weak now, all classes are pretty weak from level 1 to 11-12. With healer you'll get pretty much insta ques for when it comes to dungeons and finding parties when your levelling to 20 isnt needed anyway because of the avatar weapons you get that are OP as [filtered].

Once you get to 20, just grind dungeons and you should be good to level 60.

For farming (solo or easy content) I would level a brawler, since the block and dealing constant damage can be very useful, and they deal a decent amount of dmg. you can que up for dungeons to lvl or do 5-man dungeons alone. (dont forget charms)

Healers usually level by Instance Matching all the way up to lvl 65, and moderately following the lvl 60-65 quest line. While DPS classes can do Instance matching and doing 5-man dungeons alone.

And fyi the main guide and good-to-know compilation site for Tera is Essentialmana.

    Hi,

As a person that levelled 3 priests to level 65, I would say that levelling a support in the first few levels will be a little more frustrating due to the need to spend more time killing compared to classes like gunner. However, after level 20 you probably won't need to solo another mob until IoD (and even then I rather do PvP/Dungeons on my priests)

Regardless, it is a good decision to focus a character to level 65 before trying out another class, even if reaper is unlocked at level 40. This lets you get the general feel of the game, despite the nerfs making levelling too easy.

    Well common question..
I see Brawler/Warrior/Ninja as a behind the frontline defending the healer while looking for the right opportunity to charge in.
Berserker/Slayer makes me think of a some badass two hander that can just whirlwind and cross there fingers thinking they do enough damage.
Gunner/Archer being the long range , they could easily snipe off the healer and possible Area of Effect damage some of the other things in the way.

    Choose what's best for you

Uh that is for PvP and even then it is largely incorrect.
  • Gunner used to be great for farming but it's my understanding that the class has been significantly nerfed... brawler is still a good choice for solo farming. As is reaper, reaper does okay (and is obviously much quicker to level than any other class). Don't sell mystic short, though. Mystic is actually deceptively effective at endgame farming in the current build. Brawler or mystic will likely have easier times finding parties in later game, because tanks and healers are generally in higher demand than common dps. Just... remember that if you're queuing as a tank or a healer, the rest of the party will probably expect you to fill the role you applied for... very few people appreciate tanks and healers trying to be dps.
  • Brawler is a tank, if you level it, do it because you want to tank and tank well. Tera is saturated by [filtered] brawlers who cant tank, but good brawlers are [filtered] amazing and you will be loved by all. Gunner is a lot of fun. I have a 65 and shes a bad [filtered]. They were nerfed as @TheGreyWolf said, but just like 10% less damage off their main DPS skill. and priest/mystic are a lot of fun but there is a lot of turmoil surrounding upcoming revamps to both classes so personally id let it all stabilize before seting one up and leveling it. I main a priest and they cant farm [filtered] and any solo content is a chore with them. So....yeah, follow your heart.
  • Thanks for all the advice :)

Now I have a reaper at level 65 and I am trying to build a Ninja up for PvP. Both classes seem a lot more active and fast paced and I am loving them. I might try some new classes too, when I get a new chat slot.
