How To Make Cut Outs
1. Find a good program that captures screen shots in BMP formatt. There are several out there, myself I use Fraps
2. I use Adobe CS2 to do this and you can DL it for free ( Google it ). Yes you can use Gimp, no I won't go into how because I refuse to use that program there for do not know it well.
3. Find an area in game where the background contrast your character and the colors in their outfit. Myself I use the Sky Castle.
.4. Take a serious of Screen shots in different poses where you can later on go through them all and chooose which you like best
5. Time to work in CS2, open it up and drag the pic you want to edit over
Step one

-In the pic you will see which tool I am using as well my preferences in the settings highlighted in yellow
-Go around clicking on the colors that contrast your character while watching for signs of colors inside the character being deleted, so you can reverse the effect.
-This should be the out come

Step Two
-Crop it

Step Three
-Take out the fragments of the colors that remain around the body. To do this I just fade them out by by editing the Blues and Cyans in the pic as shown below.

Step Four
-This isn't needed but I like to sharpen the image as seen in the pics below

Step Five
-Using the Blur and Smudge Tool you can blend in the rough areas on the body, giving the skin a softer appearance

Step Six

Once you done just save as a PNG and poof a cut out. I wouold suggest though playing with other option as well, just have fun and learn how all the tools work

Gimp is fine as well as other software out there, I just us Adobe because it is what I am used to and I tend to go manic when working on any sort of art. Yes I will curse at inanimate objects when I get frustrated and gimp frustrates me.
Nice to see somebody else who enjoys doing this.
I've personally never used gimp, but i've heard good things.
