Stun locks

I really think a nerf to stun duration is needed for some classes. Why in a game that requires skill based decisions do we have unbreakable 8-10 second locks? This is from the CS perspective with no option for jewelry or anything. It's incredibly irritating dealing with archer and warrior stun locks that just take in earnest no skill to use. Chaining skills through a single key doesn't really make for anything to be proud of. Then again, this is the company who has left Brawler in such s broken state for how long now? Guess I'm just venting and waiting for a new game to come out who will actually ask their players to think during combat. Till then, I guess the Tera community will just live with kids mashing a single button for their jollies.

Archer has to put itself at quite a risk coming to melee range to stunlock, and warrior can do it from ~15m away. Logic.
  • So you evade the actual issue of stun length and how it dilutes the ability of timing skills and not just spamming a single button? It ends up making the game far less enjoyable, as I think that warriors and archers should have higher damage outputs and shorter stuns to compensate for that return. There is no risk in a stun locked opponent and you're not addressing that. You logic is tenuous at best.

I see nothing wrong with the stun locks for warrior or archer in all my years of CS. Sure they can combo wombo you, but it isn't enough to 100-0% anyone. Sorcs have been nerfed for this specific reason. Even the tankiest classes with the best crystals can get killed by a sorc's combo if uninterrupted. Luckily that has changed. With even 3 relentless niveots, one can withstand any archer or warrior combo, escape, and return fire while they are in cooldown.

Different classes have different combo wombos, just got to learn them. Example Berserkers and Slayers can KD lock healers, Lancers can Stun lock combo also. Sorcs have multiple utility. Gunners have a combo wombo that can, if all crit, 100-0% a cloth class. Reapers can spacebar stagger you to death.

My point being, each class has their own combos. Unnerfed Sorcs were the only broken ones.

if you are stunlocked there are only 2 options.

    1) Hope someone can peel him off you.
    2) Wait for the split second between staggers and stuns to run off or counterattack.

But as what FaunBait said, unnerfed sorcs (and iirc really old patch slayers) were the only class capable of 100-0ing any class the second they land the first hit.

Note: Most perma stun combos can't be done by mashing spacebar.

    was a joke. hurhurhur. XD
  • Well with zerkers spamming a kd, I don't really feel that they're too op given their charge requirements. Lancers, sure if they have a really low ping. You also say that no stun lock can wipe you out completely. I think that's a little absurd to assume that if you've played enough CS. I can do that myself with my archer and enough room to move back after stunning someone. It takes a little luck and practice, but you certainly can 100-0 players in one combo chain. I understand that this game is built around controlling your opponents, but the case that I am talking about is the use of hard stuns which give you zero opportunity to recover and take minimal effort to set-up.

Classes other than warriors and arches to some extent, will have a lot more effort they have to put into locking you down. Those of these other classes you can break and getting stuck in one comes typically from a goof on your part. With warriors, it's one button to begin a hard stun and with the right crystal set-up, they can hit extremely hard. With archers, you have three stuns to keep someone immobile during the entire encounter. Yeah, it doesn't happen all of the time. However, some players are so well practiced with these classes and it makes them very difficult to mount any kind of counter.

Tera is not built around any kind of balance and that is something that I can live with, but these hard stuns which leave you unable to break the chain at any point makes for a very poor player experience in CS. So if they're going to insist on long stuns, then I think a spell like Retaliate should be tried out for stun effects, that or combine the two debilitations under the same counter-spell for Retaliate which then gives you a choice to make on when to use it.

So while I know that nothing is really ever likely to change, it's just kind of my beef with some of the spells in Tera. Since Slayer combos, Reaper combos, Gunner combos, hell even Brawler combos are not nearly as obnoxiously irritating as those of the Warriors and Archers. I get an opportunity to react with everyone else.

Stun duration has already been nerfed significantly on all classes. Tera has simply changed to a knockdown game. Only thing different is that you're getting knocked down consecutively for huge damage until Retaliate is up (9s if you have cdr and you're knocked down immediately after Retaliate buff is gone... or 5-6s if you're a healer). Stuns can still be stacked off of one another and still be peeled just as easily. If it's 1v1, no classes are capable of 100>0 with the same gear in a single stun.

Since you mentioned CS, do remember that CS gear is garbage enough without the stun duration. Everyone hits hard as hell and it's pretty unfair. If they gave CS earrings stun reduction, they'd have to give everybody more attack speed to compensate or it would make several classes virtually useless. But that still won't stop every class from doing massive amounts of damage as it is. Just consider the stun-time-for-attack-speed exchange a realistic choice considering the mechanics of the battleground (such as climbing ladders). Otherwise everyone would just kill you faster and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.

I don't worry to much about stuns in CS Its all the aoe sorcs reapers gunners and archers and friends lagging things and murdering me huehuehuehuehue
  • Sounds like a case of git gud. Archers aren't even a spacebar class breh. Warriors have it easy but they should. They are pretty much almost completely ineffective in mass pvp so they deserve being a threat small-scale. On top of that, if you're fighting a spacebar warrior and you lose, you really do need to git gud. The backstab spacebar combo does pathetic damage.

You also have a problem with players being too good at their class? Oooooook.

You also dont mean what you said about other class combos. Using the classes you mentioned, both reaper and brawler can 100-0, and slayer can too but less reliably.
  • At least the Archer has to aim and can easily miss. You can tell when they're going to come up to you an stun you, because they can only do it from a close-mid range.

Warrior, on the other hand, has a long range, instant stun with no wind up animation. It doesn't go on CD until you have a guaranteed target. They're always in close range so there isn't particularly a range indicator on that too. The only thing that makes it balanced is that they're not supposed to have the same level of capability in largers BGs, but rather specialize on pick-offs.

    This ^^

My advice for OP, get some nice relentless niveots, get dyads if you really need them. and 1 warding or resolute. This will help you survive longer in CS, or in any BG.

  • I like the "git gud' morons of the internet. I'd post my collection of CS outcomes, but I honestly don't care to go through all that. This was mostly me venting about something that I felt was genuinely an issue. Trust me, I can play my preferred classes quite well. I just find some players can be irritating with having freebe skills, and that was all. Most of my CS will go 10-20 kb and no deaths, so when I have some irritating run-ins, yeah I was curious about what others felt. So if you're incapable of having an input other than sounding like a kid, then this is the only post you can refer to for a response. <3

That said, I already know my crystals. You guys can stop assuming this is the issue. Most of the time, warriors are indeed just little gnats who don't bother me too much. However, there are the few warriors which if played as well as I can on my preferred classes will easily have the advantage. I can fight back, but it takes far more set-up than other classes. I don't really mind having to do that, but this was of course just another post about how 1 v 1 fights are pretty garbage sometimes.

So I was looking to drop this issue, since again it was mostly just me venting about having a rough couple matches with other experienced players, but idiots keep trying to keep this post alive since you know, stupids be stupid. In essence this could all be solved if I had people to run with, but I am extremely casual with Tera now, and just looking for a couple hours every so often to kill some time. So when faced against people that are likely on an even skill level, but have a ganky class, you can expect for people to be annoyed. Tera will never be balance, no [filtered]. But that doesn't mean people will not complain about it in the forums.

Having 20 kills and no deaths feels so good though.

Although winning with first place in FWC using fod gear feels better.
