Multiple channels and safe zones exist for a reason. Utilize them as needed.
PVE servers seem to think people are constantly pk'ing non stop everywhere you go and that they prey on lowbies who can't defend themselves, and pvp servers seem to think that literally 0 pvp happens in pve servers.
I've been in both and both sides are wrong pvpers do pk a lot but it's only in 3-4 places and we almost never go after lowbies because there's no fun in that (tho a few people do but if you say anything others will go kill them and make sure they can't continue) also 90% of people don't just pk at random they normally have very specific reasons. and pve'ers do almost as much pvp imo, it's just in duels/alliance instead of outlaw, I've seen amazing pvpers in ch that would destroy people in vot/lot, and if you happen to not like pvp.. then simply stay away from the 2-3 spots? It's not hard if you'd stop complaining and just realize there's not that much of a difference
Like I said before, EME can force us to pvp or pve, they can also implement for example a new IP ban on EU & SEA player, to ensure a quality game play and ping in milliseconds.
If you accepting a swift act and stern decision like this, you will be expecting strict game changes in near future.
I reluctantly welcome the merger as a last resort, as we cannot deny each included servers are dealing with respective burdens:
LoT/ VoT - decaying population lead to unhealthy in-game activity.
HW - unhealthy endgame activity
Most of the comments are sound and digestible, 2 out of 3 are pvp, if HW trying to fit in, she needs to submit to the majority. However, a highly accessible option of letting HW player opt out is very necessary.
I am trying to point my reason before the merger and avoid being regret in future. I do appreciate the efforts and idea of merger, just hope you guys can keep posting and clear my doubt.
Well, I think the whole reason this thread exists -- to get feedback when it's clearly not set it stone yet -- suggests it isn't really about forcing anyone to do anything. It's just a proposal. It was presented to the Player Council members and we gave feedback, but EME wanted to get even more feedback since they knew everyone would have opinions. I don't think "accepting" this proposal means we're heading down the slippery slope to IP bans or other hypothetical things. Obviously at some point a decision will have to be made, and no decision will please everyone, but this is certainly not some sort of dictatorial decision.
lvl65 PVP sounds good on paper, but there is no reason to go out and pvp - all the gear comes from dungeons and battlegrounds. Are you expecting people to fight/grief at the Island of Dawn?
Either way, get this done! Good job yall.
After reading some of the posts I have to say, Carebears just deal with the PvP in open world - It's already too easy to avoid PvP as is with all the channels + flying mounts and it does add a bit of danger/risk/excitement to the game.
but heres my thoughts:
Best option
1. Offer HW players a free transfer to another PVE server (AV/CH, since they have lower population/activity compared to TR) this gives those servers a small boost and allows the hardcore anti-pvp players to play the game as they intended. However this will come with the issue of names, in which they'd be under the same rule of a regular server transfer, name taken = change upon arrival. It's not perfect but in the end it's either sacrifice your name or your gameplay style, at least gives them a choice.
2. Offer free transfer for a limited time (1-2 weeks?) upon opening of the new server to all players and mark it as the 'recommended' server for new players. Hopefully this will counter the negative effect of HW players transferring to PVE by replacing the population with others who wish to either 'go home' or have a fresh start. (+ some additional opening events to draw players in)
3. I'm not familiar enough with PVP servers, but a definite way to turn off PVP that doesn't require too much work, making it a unique split PVP/PVE server.
Otherwise it's
-Toss VOT and LOT into MT and leave HW to cry(or split them between AV/CH?) (chaotic and unproductive)
-Merge the 3 and have a huge QQ/ragequit fest because that's not what HW signed up for. (also potentially chaotic)
Might not even be that bad in the end, but there's a lot of concern which at least deserves an alternative.
But it'd also be interesting since we'd be gaining a 3rd server type, I've heard a lot of complaints about leveling up on MT, this server might be appealing to those who are put off by low lvl PK but still want PVP.
To those saying PVP is easily avoidable, maybe so, but exclusively PVE players shouldn't even have to worry about it, it's also not a 100% guarantee without some sort of toggle/buff which isn't fair. Imagine if MT were being switched to PVE, it's not their play style or what they signed up for which would be unfair without some alternative.
