Highwatch - the only server wher PvE guilds go into cutthroat for easy skycastle.

The reason why LoT and VoT shouldnt merge with MT: the server is huge. They cant afford to bring even the smallest of servers to merge with the large one without causing lots of server problems (due to their saying that all characters will be moved to a new server to facilitate the merger process, which can take days.

And that because MT is already huge, no reason for MT to be even more overloaded

I dont even, so many pve players not even knowing what a pvp server is before bailing out. They dont even know what a Outlaw Declaration is and how it works
The only exposure a lot of PvE players is to the concept of a TERA PvP server is the videos and threads about people being ganked, and complaints about people not being able to complete their dailies in the TAR days when there weren't enough channels, so I don't think it's easy for people to understand how it works not having been there. Most of the objection to PvP is on principle -- "I don't want to even have to consider it happening to me" -- rather than based on the likelihood or actual mechanics. But that basically is the objection to PvP servers, and why EME split them in the first place, I think.

we could live with that if enmasse choose to made server pve and pvp together as in ktera in 2011, but they choose to split to pve and pvp server, now it is too late to back, what is do is done and it is their fault to create the highwatch problem, it was a stupid idea to gave free week transfer to mount tyranna last year, all the problem we have now it come from enmasse decision in the past and now their solution it is to create more problems

You can't change the past. If they offer transfers for HW players to AV or another PvE server, I think it would solve the main problem people are expressing in this thread. Other than that, I honestly think the solution is better than the alternatives of either a) not getting HW involved at all, or b) making the combined server a regular PvE or PvP server.

personally i prefer to give free transfer for highwatch player and merge the server

    or merge highwatch with us

Let's be honest, most of VoT and LoT players already transfered to MT and those who didn't are bound to suffer fighting same ppl every day.
  • What about banks? I have characters in LoT and VoT even though my mains are in HW. Will I get to keep my banks or will they merge?

One idea that i didnt see here but its actually what a friend thought when he saw "65 PvP" is that there would be a PvP skill like Murderous Intent but to PvP, the other person need to have it on as well..for example, if you have the PvP skill on and i dont you cant hit me; but that would be almost useless as well lol, there are Duels and Deathmatches for that.

That's how Highwatch is right now though, you have to enable the pvp when you want to

    Highwatch is a PVE server.
Lake of Tears & Valley of Titans are PVP servers.

The way Outlaw Declaration works is this: One person uses the skill, thereby declaring themselves an Outlaw. Their name turns red and they get a blue ring around their feet. This player is flagged for PVP. They can PVP and be PVPed by ANYONE (other than their party/guild) as long as they are outside of a safe zone (towns, cities, dungeon entrances, etc). This means they can PVP who are NOT flagged as Outlaws. Only one person needs to be flagged as Outlaw for PVP to happen.

In another scenario, if there are two players who are on a PVP server, and neither of them are declared as Outlaws, they CANNOT PVP each other until one or both of them declares Outlaw.

What you described is how all PVP servers currently work (LoT, VoT, MT). The new server would work the same, except Outlaw Declaration would ONLY be allowed for level 65s. The way LoT, VoT and MT currently work is that Outlaw is available from Level 11, and this means that level 65s can PK players that are lower level than them. This new system would prevent that, as it locks Outlaw and PVP to only level 65.

I hope this helps Highwatch players who do not understand how Outlaw works. I know there were 2 Highwatch players who came to LoT earlier today that did not know how it worked. For Highwatch players who are concerned about not wanting to experience PVP: You will not be forced to experience PVP with this new server. Changing channels is a very good way to avoid running into random Outlaws (they will almost always stay on CH1). You cannot PVP on Island of Dawn, at dungeon entrances, in towns, cities, etc. One thing to understand is Pacifist guilds do not exist on PVP servers. All guilds are automatically declared "ready for battle" and this tag cannot be changed. However, with the new GvG raid system, open world GvGs will be removed. So this will NOT affect you as players.

You can avoid PVP very easily if you are that against it.

cool...I guess that prevents accidental pvp then...thanks for the info

I don't really like the idea of playing on PvP server. To be honest I hate them. I like to travel open world and meet other ppl doing dailies, gathering... I don't want to constantly hide in empty channel, changing Tera into single-player mode. I don't want to learn the whole PvP glyphs/combos/strategies just to be able to do dailies.

If there is PvP on a new server, it should be allowed only in a few zones (like outskirts). If someone wants deadly no-rules pvp, they can go there and find a lot of ppl who also wants that kind of experience. If someone comes to dailies area with +15 gear just to annoy ppl harassing undergeared alts... nobody wants that kind of cancer in Tera, I'd rather LFG for 15 mins than play with them.
  • Nope!, I have no interest in having highwatch be part of this merger merge it with another PVE server... I'm not interested even as level 65 of walking about doing quests just to have myself be attacked randomly by some rage monster pvp person, sure not all pvp people are crap some recognize not everyone wants to be bothered with being dragged into some irritating fight, but again not all of them get it either. I actually did a server change for 2 of my characters on highwatch to get out of pvp server lake of tears, so I suggest this if the merger must takeplace for highwatch as well, then we should be given the option to transfer our chars to other pve servers... the majority of people on pve servers I believe are there so that they don't have to deal with pvp server issues and its all well an good that the griefing up to level 65 will be stopped in that new server but it still means that once we get to level 65 we will then have griefers at that level deciding to get a gang together and attack us randomly, again I'm not interested in that thanks but no thanks

VoT + LoT doesnt even have the size of Highwatch at the point of writing lol.

Anyways for those who think Highwatch is large enough for a server, compare the LFG of Highwatch to the LFG of MT.

Highwatch's PUG group can be counted by the fingers, and THAT is what I call dead. Also the another reason is that even some of the top PvE guilds in HW moved out, because there was zero competition. And dont tell anyone that HW has a PvP scene now, it is a complete joke with very few top players in the upper echelons getting free rank 1s.

At the rate Highwatch is going, it is going to become a non-RP version of CH, too casual and too few people doing endgame content. The (extremely) small price of turning a pve server with a pvp one, that would spice up the eventual product as a whole will attract more people, and then you will actually see the community grow.

    This. +1

When the servers merged the first time, everything went into temporary bank tabs that you can take stuff out of but cant put stuff in.

It's sad that AV PUGs on LFG is similar to HW. LFG only rise high for a month when new content release, then LFG dead for months.

yes but a lot of level 65s dont want to pvp at all, so why would players from HW be forced into being pked for nothing if they dont want to, there is a flaw in this idea and what wold solve that is if AN OUTLAW CAN ONLY ATACK ANOTHER OUTLAW, if he turned outlaw on i dont care he cant attack me unless i turn it on too, if they want pvp let them turn outlaw on get it going on for 3h i dont care but let me do my quests in open world even as level 65....

At least it even rose. Highwatch LFGs are the same regardless of occasion.

  • acutlly , yeah , why not merge AV and HW , HW is already pretty dead so AV+HW , shouldn't be a problem
