Texting and driving for me was never a problem, but now catching Pokemon and driving is a VERY SERIOUS ISSUE.

I almost crashed catching a Zubat near Toys R Us on my way home from work the other day.

Aw geez. Mang I already have enough things to worry about. Can you dang kids just put down your phones, at least while you're driving, please?

Similar reason why I take it personally as well. I work as police on a base in the states, and have seen a few bad accidents (involving vehicles of course and pedestrians because some kid or some busy person can't put the phone down while they're driving). Had some issues personally as well with myself being rear-ended (younger sister in the passenger seat), pushed us out into traffic, because some soccer mom wanted to text and drive when we came up to a stop sign into a busy road. Luckily drivers coming at my left had good reaction.

I don't expect everyone to be safe with it (I personally may find myself parking at some Walmart or fast food joint to catch a good find), but while you are driving? Remember who could be around you (and I don't mean police either). Trying to catch some 30 CP Zubat could be the reason you put another person in the hospital, much less a child (I don't mean a non-200-year-old Elin either - I mean a human child).

Already hearing stories about people getting into accidents, trespassing, breaking and entering, reports of people "wandering aimlessly like a horde of zombies" to try to catch imaginary creatures in the real world... it really does sound like a neat idea, a fun diversion to get people off the couch, and obviously a very popular one... but I really have to wonder if it's worth all the trouble it's going to (and has already) caused.

Sorry, maybe I'm just being a grumpy old man here. I don't mean to knock your kids' games, I admire the uniqueness and ingenuity behind it. But it does seem a tad bit dangerous. Can't you kids just climb trees and ride bikes without helmets and play on metal playground equipment like we did when I was a kid? Those things are much safer.

You forgot to add that our bikes had no brakes. Who needed those when you had good sneakers to grind the pavement with?

Actually most of my bikes did have brakes (I guess I was spoiled). Brakes didn't matter though because we spent most of our time riding recklessly, down steep hills, up curbs or over ramps, to the point that the pavement stopped us long before the brakes did. Skinned knees and elbows were just par for the course.
  • Pokemon Go back in the day was the original 150 base set from the original starter packs LOL.
Get up at like 8 AM on a Saturday (which for me was sleeping in), get some cereal, watch cartoons on Kids WB, Cartoon Network, or Nickelodeon (because back then, Nick Jr didn't play on the Weekends LOL), then go outside at around 10 or 11 AM, hop on the bike, cruise around to multiple friends' houses and hope they were up. When we got some people at the playground, we'd trade and battle each other with Pokemon cards, or go inside and play some Super Smash Bros (during the late 1990s) or Super Smash Bros Melee (during the early 2000s).

90s kids had it made. We had the technology for gaming that was perfect at the time, and we went outside and exposed ourselves to the elements.

Well to be honest I was more of an 80s kid... by the 90s I was already a teenager. And teenagers tend to get into... other stuff that might not be appropriate to discuss. =)

But yeah, the 80s and 90s were great times for going outside and exploring... without cell phones.

Yeah yeah. We got into fights often. Bloody noses, black eyes and missing teeth were 'fashion'. Now media and government doesn't want us talking about how we took it on in the streets and all that because it's a 'bad example'. meh' I said it so you don't have to. Now sue me for dirtying the minds of the new generation of kids.

Anyway. That game is up in the caribbean, and as expected, all sorts of crazy stuff started happening right off the bat. And now I see all sorts of strangers snooping around the house like it's zombie apocalypse.... When the internet said the world wasn't going to end with a bang but with a whimper,.... well let's say nothing prepared me for this.

Oh yeah, back in our day, you didn't get bullied on social media. You got bullied right in your face. Nice thing about that was that you could punch the bully right in the face. Then he'd hit you back, etc., until eventually you both ended up in the principal's office and spending the next week in detention, covered in scabs. Then afterwards you guys bonded over it and laughed the whole thing off. It really was a better time in many ways.

Hah! So now you see what I was saying. People dun lost their damn minds, wandering out in the middle of the street staring at their phones. Maybe someone should make an app, "Road Rage GO!" where you get points for every Pokémon Go player you run over*

    * - I'm kidding of course O.o I don't advocate running people over. But I also don't advocate walking in the middle of the street while not paying attention. That's how people get hurt. So stop it!

Been there done that. It's called Carmagedon. And it's now on Steam.

Yeah I remember that game

But I was thinking more of like a real life app... O.o
Perhaps I shouldn't joke about that. Considering some of the crazy [filtered] going on in real life right now.

But I'll still joke about Pokémon GO. How about a Pokémon GO!: EXTREME Edition... catch super rare Pokémon in the most unexpected of places... like 100 meters below the surface in shark-infested waters... or the depths of an active volcano... the tops of precarious rock formations... the middle of an uninhabited desert... or try Pokémon GO!: Parkour Edition! Catch Pokémon 500 feet in the air by doing jumping flips across the rooftops of your local metropolitan skyscrapers! Climb cell phone towers, high voltage power lines, and shimmy your way to the edge of construction cranes to capture those elusive creatures that most people don't have the guts or physical prowess to ever attempt. Show everyone how crazy you are! And snap a duckface selfie while you're up there to prove that you're hardcore and you don't give a damn. Everyone will be super impressed with your leet skillz. Except for your life insurance agent, he might want to have a word with you.

Current version is actually quite up there. Saw in the news that there's a gym in the middle of a lake.
