New player seeking guidance

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this game and was hoping you can help me by answering some questions:

Server choice:
I'm from the eu but after some reading I have decided to play here instead.
So which Server has the better eu population?
PvP or PvE server doesn’t matter, as long as there are enough people around to play with when I am online.

Class Choice:
I usually enjoy playing a support type class, so I will probably pick a Mystic or Priest.
So to help me decide:
Is one of these 2 strictly superior to the other at the moment? (I have read about some upcoming changes to buff “old?” classes)
How is the demand for these two classes in endgame? / How easy is it to find a group as one of these?
How is the general attitude towards them on the server? Will I just get spammed with “buff me” from everyone or are players willing to actually party up and lvl/grind/farm together?
How do they perform in the initial lvling/questing phase to max lvl?
Are they able to do some things alone or do they have to tag along with some other class 24/7?

In case you strongly recommend against playing a support type class as a new player:
What other class would you recommend?

Avoiding mistakes:
Is it possible to “ruin” my character by investing points into bad stats/skills/talents?
In other words: Should I lvlup with a guide or can I just plunge into it?
Any common mistakes that I should avoid from the start or some general purpose guide that I should read?

Buddy Up Codes:
I have seen that I can get some nice gifts if I use one of these buddy codes on my char.
However I have to reach lvl 65 in 30 days. Would you say that I have to rush the lvling process to achieve that or can I normally progress through the game and still reach it in time?
Also if you have gone through all my questions, I'll gladly use one of your buddy codes instead of getting a random one from the thread next door.

Jolly Cooperation:
Last Point, but maybe the most important one: Want to play with me?
Doesn't matter if are already playing for years or started recently. I'm just looking for some company ingame and maybe a guild further down the line. For me an MMO lives and dies with the People playing together with me so I’d rather have strong start in that matter to keep me motivated.

Thanks for your help.

No idea about EU people in servers but there are a few healthy servers. The servers with lower population are valley of titans and lake of tears. The rest are in between fine and full healthy.

Priest is easier than mystic to stay alive and to keep others alive. But mystic has a lot of fun things it can do at max level.

As for mistakes building the character, nonw. Everything is editable at will. Glyphs, crystal setups. All of it can be edited on the spot, so long as you are not in combat.

Getting a character to 65 is a matter of wanting to see the story and locales, or rushing. With the current level up game you can get to level 65 very fast. I'd say a very casual player playing a few hours a night can get to 65 in less than a week without hurries.

As for playing with you. I'm currently not logging much but if you do make a character in Tempest Reach, my archer name is Noipi (note the extra i in the middle).

    Server choice:

I don't know regards to EU player base population but your best bet is to pick a high population server so you aren't alone during your play times. Mount Tyrannas and Tempest Reach are most populated.

    Class Choice:

Mystic is actually very nice right now after their recent buffs and changes. They are an offensive healer as they can do damage and heal for quite a bit with their lock ons. They can also summon "thralls" who can aid you with healing or help you attack your foes. You also don't get put into combat as much due to their skills not putting them in combat, so you are very mobile.1 downside is that you have 1 teleport which is your only i-frame but you get used to it as you play the class.

Priests are more of a defensive support healing class with their AoE heals, shielding, buffs, and movement relocation skills. They are like the helping hand who can babysit you more but then again that can be debatable. Definitely check out streams who play mystic and priests and you can see their point of view. You also are in combat most of the time and have to deal with the standard in combat movement speed but you have 1 i-frame (invincibility frame) and 1 movement skill to make up for the lack of movement speed.

If I have to be honest Mystics are "flavor of the month" due to their buffs, priests are kind of pushed aside and only useful for their "buffs". You can either solo or party up since both classes got a damage buff against monsters so you don't have much trouble in that department. Healers are ALWAYS wanted so if you stick around and learn the class, you can be a very wanted person in parties. A skilled healer is rare to find and most of them are in tight knit groups so if that is what you want to do then go for it! Oh and another thing is that healers have a very good idea of what is happening during a boss fight so if you transition to a DPS or a tank class you as a healer will have a pretty good idea on what to expect since you are always on the side line observing the fight and correcting mistakes of others.

    Avoiding mistakes:

There is no penalty for skills due to a system where you can change your glyphs anytime you want without having any resources to spend. It's not like other games where you increase your STR, AGI, DEF, every level up. It's very simple and easy to understand glyph wise. Tera is all about gear so you will learn as you go so ask other healers for their advice on glyphs and setups when you are 65. Healer also don't need the best gear as well to complete dungeons so they save you some money gear wise :waving:

    Common healer mistakes would be...

    - Dying (which applies to everyone)
    - Not supplying mana to party members frequently
    - Not debuffing the monsters during a boss fight
    - Not healing your members when they have been low HP for more than 5 seconds
    - Incorrect crystal setups and gear choice (you will learn as you go)
    - Not understanding mechanics ( You are new so you need to experience the world first! - )

    Buddy Up Codes:

Go to the buddy up thread in the forums and you can find a lot of buddy up codes depending on which server you choose. I believe once you enter it, you have 1 month to get the mount and costume, but you still get rewards for achieving certain levels while the buddy up code is active. If you want mine just message if you pick Tempest Reach as a server :awesome:

    Jolly Cooperation:

I can help you with basic understanding of the game if you are on the same server as me or just shoot me a message via PM on forums. I'm limited on time so I won't be able to level with you since I hate leveling alts haha. But I am open to whispers and PMs.
  • I agree with everything Starbuzz said. I played healer a lot and I like it, but now from 65 point of view mystics are more preferable. You can level up a char very fast. I can even say too fast. So enjoy and read quests and see the world. One month is more than enough. I play on CH. There is a pretty friendly end-game community. I'm also an EU player, so I am online at 12 pm (UTC+3) and 11-12 am. Will be glad if you join me. I have a main char reaper and here is my buddy up code Frozen.Fraya#2362

It would be great if you join my guild Heartbeat. We have very supportive members and often run dungeons with voice call via discourd. PM me at Frozen.Fraya and I will be glad to play together with someone from my time zone o:)
