Male classes

Hey, I am sick and tired of females only getting new classes. As many others are as well. Also i do not like the fact that we are copying ideals of Ktera we are an american server so lets create our own [filtered]. If you complain about how females will draw more money ect ect. then do a kick starter event and allow us to donate for the male classes that we want, nothing is impossible. It's not that i don't mind female classes being released i just want a simple change and do away with female locks.

So ive been wondering if they do finally do a male class what are your guy's idea's and i am sorry for my ranting. I was just tired of people trying to find excuses to support tera decision not to do male classes. The only possible way that they are not allowed to do it is if it reaches some sort of violation within an agreement. but i do not hope that is not the case anyways. Post your idea's below i am interested.
  • I agree with you. I am female. But I think males should have equal locked classes. ~Moonpelt
  • Complaining to En Masse about the gender/race lock on classes won't do you any good as EME does not own Tera and cannot make/influence the classes we get, they're just a publisher. Learn korean and go complain to Bluehole Studios. This is a korean game, not an american game so yes, the developers, who are korean, are going to listen to the players that are guess what? Korean. Eventually we may get male classes if the koreans ask for it, which they have. Just be patient or just don't play lol

This has been said 1000's of times on the forums and yet there's a new post everyday about "wahhhhhhh female characters make me lose my masculinity eme please make only male classes now wahhhhhhhhhh"
  • Hm.. even tho I'd love to see some class that would be available for male as well..
    it wont sell as good.
Truth be told the majority of players do choose to play as females, both guys and girls do.
Girls wanna look cute, and males want sometime to look at.
Aaaand... females are the ones with all the customs so if you want to make up epic looks it's easier with a female avatar.
Male avatars usually just get to look random or 'funny'.

Elin class, of course it's female only, since elins are female only, that's in the lore (which you should respect of the game)
But gunner/brawler.. there are opportunities but it wont sell as good.
Tho I did believe brawler would be for both human f and m in the beginning since all the brawler npcs were males.

oh well.. we just have to wait and see.

Well your frustrations are justified... for other reasons.

Having an NA server, hence an NA publisher, does not mean we have our own developer team and act independently from BHS our Korean developers. this is the same for all the other regions as well. much of the publisher's role is to localize content, not develop new ones. we therefore are not simply copying the ideals of kTera, the game is built on the same principles as kTera. there are some things that EME can do, which we have seen through mwa boxes and the recent bc/ks credit merchant changes but it's definitely a limited power. in the last few q&as, etc (with interim senior producer and others) people were trying to figure out what exactly EME can do but it ended up with a long paragraph of 'tl;dr: just a bit but not much'.

I find this to be another rank thread and not really much more. come up with a robust plan to get our voice across to BHS than simply 'let's start a kickstarter'.

If I could speak Korean. I would recommend a Male Any Race Druid Class.

I've said this before and hopefully the staff won't be offended by this, but, if you want a game that caters mainly to the NA people, play an NA game instead of a Korean one. Here we are just guests, even if we pay money we do so knowing none of our money has any power whatsoever to change anything in the game. Don't know how much of what we say here ends up in BHS's ears, but my guess is that it's not much, if anything at all. Heck, I wonder why these forums even have a suggestions section... And before we start with the whole "But they will lose money" no. They won't. They have already milked a lot of money from us guests and maintaining is on EME's shoulders. If we all decided one day to stop playing and let the servers close, they will just close it off and keep selling somewhere else. The only we could manage is to make EME poorer, not BHS.

As for what you want, it's the exact same I want. And even what I just said won't prevent me from at least voicing it, even if just to the wind. Equal love to all races/genders. Nobody will convince me that BHS didn't take the lazy route by gender locking. This would be a different story if the game had gender/race locks from the start. But of course, no elin lancers or zerkers back then would have been disastrous. So everyone was given every class. Though would have been interesting to see how this game could have sold if elins were limited to only the cloth classes and maybe archer, because it's ranged.
  • i think if your going to gender lock there need be a reason for it. i mean if you think about girl are naturally more nimble and flexible because of there muscle development and tendons which would make ninja a perfect class for female. testosterone in boys promotes muscle making them heavy hitters. I think a lot people forget that males and female are biology different. each should treated fairly not the same. similar to cat and dogs

personally besides the feelings of my sexes male feelings of hurt locked classes. I think we should get over that crap. Unless of course you can't handle the idea of the change in culture. In the past games mainly focused male themed characters..never female themed characters..We are in a new era of life in general. I say get over your wanting to be gender locked classes. There is a financial reason, a logical reason and a story reason as to why there are gender locked classes. You get upset about new classes.. because you won't play a female class. Your loss. I am perfectly confident in myself to be able to play a gender of any class. I'm not so pig headed and sexest that I would refuse to play a game because of it's gender locks. There will in time be a change in the game in which you will eventually see a male only class. Reaper, Brawler, Gunner, Ninja Are the only Gender locked classes. These are the new ones ofcourse. So what. Sorceror, Mystic, Priest, Lancer, Bezerker, Warrior, Archer not Gender locked. Just because new classes are locked does not mean you can't still enjoy the game. Suck it up and play a female for once. Or are you afraid that you would be googling over it too much?

I want a new popo class. I don't care if it's shared with another race or not. Until then, I'm done with Tera. There are too many elins to deal with.

@ZebNiko I agree. New Popo class, please. I need moar Popos!

@Mythril I don't disagree with you that people should suck it up and play classes they like regardless of gender lock (or simply not make one and call it a day), but I find it funny how many people say it's 'sexist' or 'threatening one's masculinity' when they don't want to make a gender-locked character. There are plenty of reasons why someone might not want to but those are always the go-to responses. It's silly to make such broad accusations for no reason. Personally, I just don't have as much fun with female characters.

Now on to the OP: We aren't "copying the ideals of KTera." We are playing basically the same game Korea has but localized. EME doesn't develop any content for this game, BHS does. Obviously they are going to stick to what they know and to what will make them money, which is big *word for female chest parts* and borderline-ped.o-but-not-quite-because-lore costumes and classes. If you want more male things, feel free to make a considerable donation to BHS. That would be the best and quickest way to get them.

What upsets me is that en masse has told bluehole several times that players would like for male characters to be more included. I guess they just don't care about it's western players.
But again I'm not korean so I don't know what korean players want.

    It's a popo fox~
  • Simple more need to play males and Bluehole will shift it's stance.
