How do you keep the game from getting boring?

Just curious...

With the lack of new content lately and just doing the same things over and over again... I find it really easy to get bored. Especially now that Crusades and Alliance are going away I don't feel like there's much to work for as a PvE player. And the fact that new gears are coming which just makes everything even more of a grind.

So what do you do to keep the game exciting for you? I get that PvP is a big draw for some but I don't enjoy it too much personally. I really hope something comes along to make PvE feel rewarding again.

Probably sounds like a whiny post but I just really enjoyed this game and it kinda feels like it's dying just a year after I started playing. Removal of content and lack of things being added and the 'dumbing down' of certain aspects makes me worry where the game is headed, and if it's time to jump ship...

How do you guys stay invested?

After a while everyone notices that the real endgame in Tera are costumes and derping with your friends.

In MMOs, players are content. Make friends and you'll be sure to always have fun.
  • Only thing keeping me on this game is my best friend.
    Without him, haha.. bye Tera.

I enjoy wandering around while waiting for dungeon or BG queues to pop, re-reading NPC sometimes entertain me too.

The game, apparently, is being headed towards becoming a more straightforward action game, those who came to it because of the legacy MMORPG systems will need to face the fact they're being simplyfied -or outright removed- in favor of focusing in the action combat system, which always was the main selling point -other than the game visuals.

I guess the feeling that game is lacking content -and it does, I know- is perhaps magnified by the fact we have several maps that don't have any use other than finding world bosses and that's it. So, the in-game activities see themselves reduced to the gathering spots in Val Oryin and IoD and that's it. Perhaps some other systems will be implemented eventually to give those maps a good use, many users here have sugested things like fishing, player housing and such -which I find kind of silly, but that's just personal taste.
  • make friends, play other games with friends you make in tera :^)

Exploring. Even with the recent changes to the open world with the flying mounts (invisible walls everywhere totally killed exploring) i still like to find interesting places, and one of these days, ill try to break through the invi walls that hinder my exploring.

Achievements and leveling other classes, that's what i do when i get bored. Else just play other games its normal to eventually get bored of a game and then get that feeling to play again later.
  • Not burning yourself out by playing too much, and jump around on different games, even games of different genre at times.

The prize for me is never the end game in MMOs, it is about the people in it but I will confess many others will probably get stagnant once the Crusades are gone and if the only thing replacing them is a PvP venue, I will probably lose touch some friends I know as they move on. At this point I am focusing on the silly fun side, working with people to create player made content.

I'd say PvP, but you said not to say that...

  • When I got bored, I decided I wanted to complete all of the World Boss achievements. Yes it took me a long time (4-5 months) to do that but I made some very good friends that I hunted with.

Nowadays I just talk with friends and flip items on the broker, sometimes I do the odd dungeon here and there but I usually only log on to talk with friends :)
  • I take very long breaks. I have a Founders account and I've taken two "vacations" of over a year. Just started playing again about a week ago and trying out the new classes. Feels less stale.
  • I used to level alts, but now i have almost every class (missing a lancer). It's funny while it's a new class, new skills, but now what? Alts only lasts 8 hours of gameplay with the current powerlevel we have, it's sad for those who enjoy leveling. I like achievements too. Or doing dungeons i dont need to grind just to change a little.
