    Best solution would be cheat the scammers: make all castanicas sold perma versions. Just to you know, I didn't buy one.

    That's great for people to read now, but if you don't read the forums regularly or if you haven't even in the last day, you wouldn't have any idea what the difference is and it's incredibly unfair to those who have lost gold because of such a slight difference that they wouldn't even know to look for :/

    Breaking News: people scammed other people on the internet. Who knew some people could be so cold? And why would a reputable gaming company allow this to happen? Who is ultimately responsible? More details to come.

    So, the problem was that it wasn't unreasonable to believe that the boxes were permanent costumes if you didn't frequent the forums often. Here was my thought process:
    - When the box showed up on the calendar, "Oh hey! Must be one last bang after the Mongo event. Guess I'll hop on later and grab it..."
    - I log out and go do stuff for several hours.
    - Later after the item was changed to Spellbind, I log in only to be greeted by Spellbind, "Wot. I missed it? Maybe a bunch of them ended up on the broker?"
    - Which then I proceeded to immediately scoop up the cheapest one and open it on the character I wanted it on, only to realize that it was a 7-day.
    - I then double check the item description and there is no mention of it being a 7-day costume.
    - Then I come to the forums and see this shitstorm.

    So, what do we do now? I genuinely believe that it was an honest mistake, but I don't think Spacecats has the authority to give out permanent costumes as compensation. I don't think it's a reasonable use of man-hours to have support comb through the logs and do guesswork to determine which transactions were intentional scams. Running a sale on the loot box for the costume would only serve to benefit the scammers more than the victims.

    I think a good way to handle this would be to make the permanent costume available for purchase at the normal price of 995 EMP, hype it up as a promotion + apology, and tidy up the tooltips of the 7-day boxes.

    I wasn't actually blaming the players here. This was EME's fault, no question. I was actually just amazed at the fact that some people were surprised that other people would capitalize on a mistake for their own benefit. Like... no [filtered] Sherlock? Welcome to Reality! Here in Reality, some people are [filtered] and these people lie. And 99% of the time, selfish evilness prevails and good honest people are left holding the bag. There is no such thing as karma, so don't bother comforting yourself with this false sense of "they'll get what's coming to them". Because Real Life doesn't come with a Justice Clause. Which is why most crimes go unsolved. Bad people roam the streets enjoying the fruits of other peoples' labor while innocent people suffer. This is Reality. You don't get compensated for being ripped off, and 9 times out of 10 you don't get to see the person who ripped you off brought to justice. Unless you have insurance, in which case you might qualify for the very rare opportunity to get compensated by the insurance company that has been ripping you off for X number of years.

    Whoa... maybe I need to take a break from Reality. It's making me jaded. :(
