Basically I just read....
That Fireblast, your big one shot skill, has been nerfed... yet it still one shots people...
That 2 skills you have, one that has anti kd/stagger and one that has a naturally high crit chance, dont do as much dmg as their tool tips say... yet still does enough dmg that they are go to skills in combos....
That your lock on silence, lock on root, stagger into stun, stagger into resetting sleep, 3 slows and 2 kds are all "useless"...
That having 2 moves that take mana from enemies, eventually preventing them from fighting back, is not enough.....
that one of the CDs on one of your 4 escape skills is 11 secs....
That when you have used 2 of your 4 escapes and you are waiting for that 8 sec cd on the 2 second invincibility, you still have another iframe and distancing skill to fall back on....
That you have ANOTHER invincible skill that, though might not be used often, is still available in stone skin....
That your fillers can A) stagger at melee range(into a stun), or
And that you have to rely on a self buff with a whole whopping 5 seconds of downtime(believe it or not people get the correct gear for PvP)....
I'm pretty sure I read that all correctly.
Now add to it that you have a skill that makes you invulnerable for 25% of the time. And during this 25% of time you can cast any skill you want and not have to worry about being disrupted.
Now add that because the ktera sorcs whined enough, any small nerfs that they got from the revamp have been reverted and you basically have a 100% uptime on the self buff that you rely on. Making it a VERY noticeable buff.
I'm not saying sorcs are easy, because they aren't at all. I'm sure it would take me forever just to be a passable sorc and not complete fodder. But warp barrier being the thing that is keeping your class as a strong pick in any scenario? Not even close.
You're right that Sorcerer is not complete garbage because they've reversed the changes. However, I say they're gutted without it because they've essentially lost 44% a-speed on non-CC without Overchannel (14% with for 15s out of 2 minutes), essentially can't do Sleep -> FB with Overchannel because of multihit (and lack of Overchannel), losing Magma Bomb (therefore losing Magma Sleep and Magma -> LT combos), AND losing their OP win-everything trump card.
Again, because we have utility (especially in 3s), we're not useless. Of course, I don't know what Lightning Strike has to offer (obviously not much since it had to be changed off the bat,) but losing so much just to dumb down Sorc PvE is definitely what I'd call gutting.
Also I agree, Warp Barrier is no fun. Back when Sorcerer was OP, I was hoping to see Warp Barrier, Lightning Trap duration and speed, Nerve duration, and Time Gyre projectile nerfed because that's what made it so low-skill. But instead, they chose to nerf Sorc in unnecessary ways while leaving the elephant in the room to stampede.
1. Fireblast "could" one shots now if you have high enough power or if you're against another cloth dps class. I have yet to one shot any class that isn't cloth with the same or better gear. Of course, it's possible to one shot if the enemy HP is low, and the FB power creep is high enough.
2. Which skill has a naturally high crit chance? Nova? It doesn't crit as much as you think. Even with 2.5x crit rate, both Nova and Void won't crit as much as you make it to be, unless you're running full crit. Also, the cast time and speed for both skills are quite slow even during BoC. To make of these skills
3. Our CC useless, yes, because of how with one touch, Silence can be dispelled. Our root has a delay that most can escape from, and our sleep reset....really? Sleep hardly resets when it needs to reset with a 25% chance and high cooldown. Our slows? Hailstorm doesn't slow like it used to, and glacial only slows for so long, and leaves us vulnerable to any attack. Ice needle? Have you seen how slow it travels? Also, hardly anyone glyphs pain blast for slowing effect when it doesn't slow 100% at times.
4. Our mana drains hardly have an impact in pvp against opponents with consumables, unless the opponent is already low on mana. The only time it may have a better impact is during 1v1 duels.
5. My jaunt has 11sec cooldown because of my build. Otherwise it would be 13 seconds. Backstep and glacial can only get us so far, and even with warp barrier as a back up safety, that doesn't always ensure a clean get away. Also, like I said, stone skin has a high cooldown, and has a small window in which people can take advantage of.
6. Our filler resets aren't always dependable. Even with 40% reset on magma bomb, it doesn't reset nearly as much. Once again, sleep doesn't reset almost at all, especially when it's needed. Sure, the reset percentage numbers sounds great in paper, but in a fast paced match, it hardly procs when it calls for it.
7. 25% invincibility sounds great in paper, but those 2 seconds go by really fast, and a lot can happen within that 5-6 seconds. If you're talking about duels, of free cast without interruption, then point taken. Though, like I've said, you of all should know that, like any other iframe, can be pressured prematurely.
8. I would like to suggest for you to try Sorc just a bit. You will see that with our squishy pvp defense, warp barrier is one of the many main reasons that Sorc is a strong pick in most scenarios. Reason? It keeps our squishy cloth butts alive to be able to land our long time cast and high mana consuming burst skills that can be negated with a stagger/stun/kd.

Given the current PvP status right now. Warp Barrier is negligible especially if you get jumped on by a brawler/reaper or worse a warrior who can break down your warp barrier and go into a backstab combo. If you ask me the class needs a thorough re vamp rather than some minor adjustments. If I'm not mistaken the re vamp returns you to your origional status : Glass Cannon. You'll hit hard again but you'll be prone to damage.
Though one must actually speak up for the class that's pretty much forgotten. Archers.
Doesn't the lightning that replaced magma bomb stagger just the same?
And from what we have been told and what ktera forums allude to, the new lightning doesn't stagger. Not 100% on that though.
Traps and Sleep are 6% faster, Flaming Barrage 14% slower. After watching a video of Sorc in 3s post revamp (pre tweak), I'm not particularly impressed, but I think we'll have to wait and see. It staggers, but I don't know if it staggers the same way, comes out as fast, or has the same ez-radius as Magma Bomb has. But according to the notes, it didn't:

Not to bring up a dead beaten horse up from the ground, but you're barking a nerf at the wrong class. As MorningCoffee said: "An Elephant is left to stampede the room."
Also, yes, I defended warp barrier, but if it would to have its cooldown increased and it's duration descreased, I won't mind. Though, we should get something minor in return, such as our silence skill pre nerfed with less duration, or something similar.
The reason Warp Barrier is as strong as it is now is because of Sorcerers defense being the worst in the game. They have the lowest defense of any class in the game. Which means they can be one comboed by any class in the game very very very easily (when caught), the reason you can't catch a Sorc is because of Warp Barrier and being able to self-peel during it. If Sorcerers didn't have Warp Barrier or if it didnt function like it does in todays game after all the nerfs Sorc has seen to most of its abilities it would simply be a target.
The Sorc has seen numerous nerfs to our PvP Endurance, Ability CDs (Jaunt increased, Gyre increased), Ability duration (aka Stun Trap), Numerous Nerfs to our damage, has probably the lowest Crit Chance of any DPS class on their main damaging abilities (especially with bad crit glyphs in comparison to other classes especially in todays game where Crit Resist is so easy to obtain), CC being nerfed into oblivion, etc.
The revamp to the Sorcerer class is not going over well for Sorcerer PvP players. I am not looking forward to it after seeing the complete rework in action.
I can't wait to experiment with the revamp post tweaked changes on Sorc. I already have a bit of insight on what to change and adjust for pvp from my current build. :chuffed:
