Questions From A New Player
Hi everyone!
After doing a fair bit of research on different MMORPGs I've decided to try out Tera, mainly because it has the holy trinity (from what I've read anyway...). I've downloaded the game and had a quick look at the different classes, but before I create a character there's a few questions I hope to get answered:
1. Is it possible to have characters on multiple servers? Or do I have to stick with the first server I pick?
2. Is there a limit to the number of characters I can have (per server or account)?
And a question that requires a bit more insight:
3. How would you describe the community/atmosphere on the different servers? (I'm a PvE-player by nature, but I'm open to try both the PvP and PvE Roleplaying servers)
Finally, I've read the class descriptions, but I'm still not sure which class to play. Several years ago I used to play WoW (I quit before the release of Cata), and my main class was a priest specced for healing in raids.
4. What's the main difference between a Mystic and a Priest when doing raids/instances? Which would you say is better and/or more fun to play as a healer?
EDIT: I just realized that I'm equally interested in playing a class that's in minority. Final question:
5. Which classes are the most and least played? Is there a need for more healers, or are there too many already?
Thanks for reading!

2. Don't remember the exact amount but it's above 10 per server
3. PVP isn't that important in tera. You can queue for the light stuff, like fraywind and corsair's stronghold, but if you want to get involved in us vs them drama you'll probably want to pick a major pvp guild on mount tyrannus where there is open world pvp. Other than that PvE is pretty much the focus across all servers and if you're a decent human being you'll get treated right.
4. Priests have access to greater burst healing (healing immersion resets are 100% if you spam the skill) and mystics have access to more combat based utility and dps if they are skilled enough. I would say priests are your boring safe healers that can keep a party from wiping, while mystics are more risky and fun.
5. From my perspective least to greatest: Sorcerer, Berserker, Archer, Slayer, Warrior, Lancer, Brawler, Mystic, Priest, Reaper, Gunner, Ninja. There really aren't a lot of tanks in my opinion. Healers and DPS far outnumber them.
As for community, you will find a lot of friendly players and the usual toxic stuff as well. Not different than any other mmo. If you played healer, both healer offer similar but different approaches. Of the two healer classes, Priest is the more direct and classical, while Mystic is a sort of hybrid healer who can summon thralls and have a different kind of support.
As for classes, after the mystic buff, there's a good amount of healers, but healers are still a more welcome sight than another DPS. As for classes, you will notice that some of them are race and gender locked. Those classes were made to attract casuals so they are easier to play. Those are Reaper (elin only) Gunner (female elf and castanic) Brawler (female human) and Ninja (elin). You could try the game as one of these easier classes if you just want to see how tings go, then create a healer as main.
2. 16 is the limit I believe. However, note that you start with only 2 (or 3, I can't remember) at first and then must purchase more character slots with EMP or off the trade broker with gold to increase your character limit.
3. Certain servers tend to be more hardcore than others. Mount Tyrannas, for example, is much much more hardcore than Celestial Hills which seems to be the most casual server due to its roleplay nature.
PVP can be done in battlegrounds queued on any server but if you want open-world PVP, you must roll a PVP server.
4. I currently main a mystic. The simplest way to put it is that Priest is the safer healer, allowing parties more cushion with more heals, faster resses, and other party benefits like Kaia's Shield which give party members a 50k shield and is your basic healer. It is recommended to try Priest before you play a Mystic to get used to TERA's healing system.
Mystics are a different healer and use different heal skills and provide more utility.
People tend to find it best to learn dungeons with a Priest then once you are skilled in it, bring a Mystic. The two are obviously different healers and each both have seperate weaknesses and strengths. Some people will prefer Mystics for faster clears and others will prefer Priests for safer clears.
I say Mystic is more fun as I find that it provides more of a challenge but I may just be biased on that part.
5. I find either Beserker or Sorcerer to be pretty much nonexistent on my server. Tanks can be pretty hard to find too and we could always use more of those.
In my experience, there are too many healers as I find it hard for myself to even find a party despite being +15 and skilled in all dungeons. With the upcoming update to get rid of double-healer party composition (parties that contain both Priest and Mystic), it may be even harder to find one.
More input is still welcome, especially concerning points 3 and 5
Also, wrong subforum.
Thank you!
And yes, I noticed that there was a "New & Returning Player Help" section shortly after posting my last thread...
I started on a PvP server. I was new to Tera and wasn't paying attention when I read server descriptions and ended up just picking my server because I liked the name, lol. The community was incredibly [filtered], plus I didn't know how to change channels back then so I would level/quest on channel one and was constantly killed by level 65's every minute or two. However, as far as I've heard, the community has chilled out a little bit (it's been more than a year since I switched) and the PKing isn't as bad. Plus, again, you can always change channels if you want to be safe. Also know that we're about to have a server merge between Highwatch (PvE), Lake of Tears (PvP), and Valley of Titans (PvP). This will become a hybrid server that only allows open world killing at level 65. So the only 'true' PvP server left will be MT.
-One thing to know about MT: currently they have some of the top PvE guilds/players in all of NA. They have incredible PvPers too, don't get me wrong, but their PvE community is surprisingly strong given that you'd expect it would be more PvP focused-
Back when I started I also made alts on almost every server and leveled them to 60-65. That being said, it's been more than a year for that too, and I currently play exclusively on Tempest Reach, so it's what I know the most about. Our community is in a pretty good place right now. We have a lot of people, usually the majority of the LFG, running HM dungeons. Yes, a large portion of parties won't accept you unless you have great gear or skilled, but every server is like that. All the guilds I've been in have been really nice. There are always a few assholes but that's to be expected. After OntarioGuy was IP banned, global has been pretty tame. Also, if you ask questions in global, there's actually a good 80-90% chance people will answer you and help you instead of tease you/ignore you/give you advice that makes it worse, lol. Currently I wouldn't imagine changing from TR to any other server. I really like it here.
As a rule of thumb though, PvE servers tend to be friendlier than PvP ones. I've heard that CH is actually the server with the nicest community, but that is an RP server so if you don't want that, you may not want to go there.
People already answered what classes are least played so... Don't really need to. Pretty much, you NEVER see Berserkers, Archers, Lancers, Sorcerers, and Warriors. Personally I love playing all of those classes with the exception of zerk, hah. I've mained priest for about a year and now also co-main gunner, mystic, and sorc. I have every class in the game at level 65 so... if you have any general questions let me know. Can't give you detailed expert answers but can provide you with some common knowledge ones.
Healers are still needed, yes. Currently the highest demand is for tanks, but healers are right behind them. A few months ago, Mystics were very, very rare, but after the buffs that came in for them, I actually see more Mystics than Priests. People will prefer Priests to Mystics if they need 'safety' or are worried about a run being hard, but if people want a high score run or a faster run, they tend to prefer Mystics. Both are fun for different reasons, although Mystics are arguably more fun.
Also know that warrior and archer are the only non tank/healer class that can add a debufff to the boss, so those are nice to have in parties because they can increase everyone else's dps. Hopefully this helps, and let me know if it doesn't!
we are cute elin and professional erper
mystic is skittle, cuddle and critic and sometime dps
now the most it is ninja, the least, 2016 is bad year for lancer
