Windows 10 anniversay Update Improves Tera performance!

Anyone running windows 10, did you guys notice your framerate skyrocket after the update. I noticed mine did by a good 50-70%. Curious to see if anyone else got an improvement.

No change on mine that I've noted.
  • If anyone has any notable evidence of this change, please let me know. The only reason I'm really still on 7 is because of the terrible FPS drops it gives to Tera.
  • Only change i've noticed is now I lag like a mother effer for a moment when tabbing in and out of the game.
So I wouldn't call that an improvement on my end, haha.

My 'everyone-can-use-it' desktop was a Windows 7 and once I upgraded it to Windows 10, I noticed a greater FPS and loading time in TERA, but what I didn't like is the service hosts and cortana eatting up 29% of my CPU.

If Windows 10 could stop trying to shove in add-ons without notice, it would definitely be decent to upgrade to Windows 10... gotta turn off or delete all that extra stuff that i don't use and cut off any data leaks through whatever service they force me on.
  • Yep! I struggled to run at preset 0, hanging around 3-16 fps....now i play on Preset 4 with 30-40 fps...>:)
  • I didn't notice anything different I've been on Windows 10 since March.
  • I have to say that I have mixed feelings since upgrading to windows 10. I felt the performance was much better when I was on windows 8.1. After making some edits (like disabling the new intro vids when tera starts), that gave me a huge boost to tera on windows 10. Also keep in mind that I already have the game in the windows defender exception from before and updated video card drivers as well.

It's smooth now but I noticed that only the last boss in sshm is a total lagfest for me lately ever since the upgrade. Like when beginning of boss fight when he attacks toward me and he does the aoe outside attack, it is very slow. The cages are slow as well but not all the time, which is weird. I'm not sure did something change recently? Or is this only happening in windows 10.

I've tried everything that I could (update my video card driver, s1engine.ini edits, disabling intro vids, etc). I also know there is an edit we can do in Macromedia flash player in IE if I remember right and that it helps reduce memory leak; not sure if that carries over to windows 10 or it resets back to default and also if that would be one of the issues as well. I couldn't go back to windows 8.1 because it said the files were deleted, which weren't! Anyway that is a different story for Microsoft as I will be complaining to them about that.

If anyone else has any other tips to share on improving the smoothness in tera gameplay for windows 10, kindly please do :)
  • This is more like an issue. I did a clean install of W10 AU and that's right fps are improved but my processor reachs 85ºC as a preset 0...

Ok. So I checked to see if I actually had the anniversary update and after checking this page, I found out I didn't have the update. So I downloaded the tool, fired it up, and got my update.

First things I noted. On my computer, Tera used to throttle to 60 fps when in full screen. Not anymore after this update. I had to go check the vertical sync setting on Nvidia control panel, but to my surprise, the few settings I had there for the game were deleted. Everything was tossed back to default so I had to add FXAA and other things I had there again. Happened to all my games and applications I had custom settings for. Also noted that my custom sound settings were also deleted so I also had to remake them. I'm sure I'll find other stuff removed or returned to default. But at least for games, those two bits was what I noted.

I think I see a small fps improvement. If I remember, Highwatch with a moderate amount of players used to run at around 25 FPS. Now I get around 36-40. When alone, if not throttled via v-sync, FPS shoots up to 120

If only Microsoft wasn't shoving their dicks in my mouth if I used 10, then I might switch and bask in the glory.
8.1 without telemetry updates is bae.
  • Nice propaganda my friend, hope everyone is enjoying their botnet. Windows 7 is still god tier.

Tested anniversary update, did give a significant enough fps boost for me.

EDIT: I disabled all add-ons so maybe that helps.
