Priest and Mystic Difficulty?

I'm currently leveling a Berserker and have a Reaper, Archer, Gunner, Lancer, Brawler. Fan of melee classes, but I've been looking to try something different. For someone new to Mystic and or Priest, how difficult are they party wise? I've been in parties with some solid mystics and priests, and it seems like a lot to juggle healing wise.

They are not hard. ATM, there are too many healers, and harder for finding a group. In my guild, I do either tanking or dps instead of healing. Just too many healers.

Priest Iframe - you need to turn around camera angle before iframe. Iframe feels slightly longer than mystic.
Mystic iframe - it just teleport mystic and distance is much longer than priest.

Priest - priest buff/ debuff skill put the priest in combat mode. and priest walk slow with limp.
Mystic - most of buff, debuff, mana regain skill.. dont' put mystic in combat mode. Mystic runs around the boss and can evade most of boss boss attack without using iframe.

DPS geared Mystic can solo alot easy and faster than priest.
  • Make a Priest first, you have more support buff and healing kit. Kinda easier to learn the basic as a Priest.
After that make a Mystic for pvp experince.

Considering the amazing buffs it's gotten recently, I can tell you it's now a lot more fun, and way more efficient to play. I don't like being a priest anymore, but I was a priest BEFORE I was a mystic.

I agree with @Laoshang . Make a priest first to familiarize yourself with healing, since basically all you need to do is heal others and don't die. With mystic a lot more is expected of you (healing, debuffing, summoning) it can be a lot to keep track of. I personally find mystic easier because you have healing skills that you can just drop (motes, totem, thrall of life) while you can work on something else (mana regen, debuffing, attacking), especially if your party mates are good and don't require constant heal-carrying, allows you to DPS and move things a lot quicker.

I just don't like priest anymore because I dislike babysitting bad players that refuse to dodge at all, but it's good to get your feet wet.

Ty everyone for the input. I'll try a priest first then. I have no qualms with being the support guy, the healer(or helping bad players as you said). Just don't want a party to wipe because of inexperience.
  • and be ready to listen to some [filtered]... some will help you, some will curse you.... ppl usually dont know that when ure new to the dungeon, you need to learn the mechanics AND keep everyone alive at the same time... not that easy as it seems... but dont be afraid... if ure not feeling like u can do it, try to find a double healing pt.. easier to learn

Like what BusinessCat said, there will many *nice* guys out there that will make your dungeon experience rather miserable, especially if you're new to the class and dungeon. As one that only have one character, a priest at that, I would say that the class isn't easy as what most people think. While you need to keep both yourself and the party alive, you need to know when to iframe, debuff, cleanse, resurrect and buff your party with E.S, etc, especially so for the infants that don't bother/dont know how to dodge attacks. I would recommend reading the Healer Fundamentals on EssentialMana (http://www.essentialmana.com/basic-healer-guide/) to get you started on gear and builds, and other stuff you need to know. Good luck :D

Anyone can point and click on someone to heal, what makes a bigger difference is buff uptime, debuff uptime, mana management and most of all how well you hold your cool in dire situations.

Well, with glyphed Shakan for combat movement speed and swift niveot, priests are the fastest class in combat in terms of just running. It's not so bad at all, enough to get out of the way of many attacks and mechanics without having to dodge. Mystics will move faster because if not DPSing they can be out of combat, but they don't always have that luxury (like SS Imperator cages forcing you to be in combat).
  • Healing isn't so much hard as it is stressful. Your job is easy...heal, buff, debuff. mana charge. The key is learning how to be as hyper-aware as possible. You must efficiently balance a structured rotation with the unpredictable nature of healing. Everyone else in the party gets to kind of zero in on one element of the fight whereas the healer must quickly resolve problems so they may move on to the next.

I switch to aura of swift during the cage. It's easy and fast enough to change aura. Corruption ring is still decent dps skill and it doesn't put mystic in combat mode.
  • Mystic is stand around throw motes.
Priest is interact with boss and party.

    I am not biased.

You got every heavy geared class. Try priest. I guess it will suits the gameplay you already have really fine. ^^

OMG I was crying watching that. And coming from a healer in WoW and EQ I can say this is spot on!
  • Healing: abusive relationship. :D
