The PvP community.
Just how long have we been forgotten about by the devs?
Ok serious time.
Is there anything in KTera right now that shows signs of the PvP community getting anything new besides class adjustments revamps etc. I've been PvPing forba while now but it just seems like BHS doesn't care much for the PvP side of things. I'm not saying they're bad. I'm jus saying it'd be nice if the game didn't constantly cater to the feint of heart all the time. We're down to playing in two Battlegrounds FWC and EQ 3s. Any motivation for playing them will be non existent after the removal of crusades. Sure we're getting the GvG remake and the removal of alliance. But what's the point of putting this new GvG system on a PvE server really.

The point of the GvG in PvE server? well, It will be like going back to the old Vanarchy. Besides, PvE doesn't mean that there wont be any PvP happening or GvG. It just means that you get to decide when and where to PvP.
And Kumasylum 2.0's queue pops a lot too; its a really good BG..reel PeeVeePee <insert kappa emote>
But yeah no one knows lol..i guess the only motivation PvPers will have now is their own will to do PvP and enjoy it -specially 3's-
Tbh tho, PvP guilds exist in PvE servers and many ppl are waiting to see how it will be and already organizing for it..i personally have nothing to complain about the new GvG for Velika system because its replacing Ally lol
Lets see how it will be.
As far as ive seen only things that are really screaming to be changed are actually changed. Not too much effort put into it.
Kinda sad but if you think about it, they dont put too much effort into fixing PvE problems either lol
Well if it is not surprised community was toxic and close knit not welcoming at all.
Not to mention getting VM gear to be competitive too much dedication.
If PVP was as good as some say it is, would garner more recognition, but lets just be honest for once.
PVP in this game is subpar compared to other games and Tera only ever had one PVP BG which was 3s
I wouldn't consider FWC PVP it is after all in most cases a Zergfest/ who has most brawlers reapers yet I know plenty tryhard hardcore PVPers will say it is not. If fact I'd argue FWC doesn't test ur PVP skills per say, but rather a leaders ability to lead a large group strategy.
Right now, KTera has no pve servers anymore, but their gaming habits are not the exact same as NA gaming habits. Though I don't know what was the opinion of those KTera players who joined pve servers in order to avoid pvp and now were moved into pvp servers.
Lastly, as a personal note. I don't believe not wanting to pvp means I'm weak or "faint of heart" or afraid to lose against a live player. I already accepted I'm not a good gamer and will most likely lose most pvp matches so fear of losing is lost on acceptance of losing anyway. I don't play pvp simply because I just don't like it and that's it. I won't discuss this anymore in this thread, though, so if you want to answer me about this topic, we can make a new thread about it or I can get personal messages. I won't respond to insults or salt though. Only constructive chats.
First of all, what marketing trolol?
Unless you were into the scene and knew about F2P games nobody knew what Tera was only that it was a [filtered] infested game that flopped and went F2P to survive courtesy of lets play vids. World bigger than Tera and by large was considered a failure 2013/early 2014.
When Tera went f2p PVE was horrid and many stayed for combat or PVP.
FWC qs were dead but old timers reminiscence about good old days like always.
CS was the new hot BG and all the players who couldn't PVP flocked to it
When Kuma was release PVP community enraged
PVP tournaments hosted on a regular
3s had a growing population, but was too elitist for most
PVP threads were full of activity and duels were rampant.
Heck AV guilds did Alliance PVP....AV
On PVE side of things people completely attacked BHS, EME, whoever was in charge of making that shitfest 1hr long bugged glitch dungeon WHHM and worse make us farm it for 4-6 MONTHS. Don't even get me started on the VM grind for that patch. Then with the release of ABHM, irate even more when despite being new dungeon nowhere close to difficulty as it was just another DPS gear check. That combined with rehashed bosses reused over and over and over...no I remember and people hated PVE content. Hence explanation of why many consider Tera "boring" despite good combat. They stayed around for PVP once they obtained endgame gear and got skilled in new instances.
Least how it was for me on AV.
Right now I can't say if more current people play the game for pve or pvp. I don't have that data and I refuse to venture into assumptions on that matter. But as I already said, gaming in general has probably always been more pvp focused (heck, some the very first video games were pvp and even the single player games had scores for players to beat so, pvp has been with us in gaming since it's roots). The difference between back then and now is that now is possible to connect people around the world through the Internet. Something we old gamers didn't have before.
As for the game having a lot of issues, well, all games have issues. Some more than others. Tera isn't the game with the least issues out there but is not the one with the most. Yet this is a game that even with those issues, I believe still has a fairly committed community of players who prefer to voice their opinion to try and make the game better, rather than silently clicking the uninstall button.
If this game was doing as bad as some people say it's doing, it would have closed servers long ago. For examples of games that do really bad around here, check all Sega PSO games in the NA markets. They hardly last and I assume because of that, they refrained from even releasing it's sequel over here. Heck, take most MMOs that are not WoW. They either end up closing or with small niche communities. So in my opinion, Tera is still doing rather well considering the saturation of MMOs.
eh, we've had online play available since 1978. More years of gaming with online play than without in history.
ALL servers are pvE... its Tera. the fact that pvp is added is the extra.
on the side.
a footnote
that's what pvp is.
preach
should really be playing other games for that competitive fix
A big chunk of mmorpgs tend to have a focus on pve from its players. Even when some of them put some focus on pvp they don't get as much out of it, for instance GW2 saw a decline in profit when pvp and raids were focused over general pve and story. The thing is, when it comes to pvp, there's already plenty of games and genres dedicated strictly to pvp, and have far better design for pvp. In Tera's case, the issue worsens since gear is a factor and even if they made equalized standard it still would be an issue because you don't get to choose stats accordingly for class and play style like you could for GW2. There aren't that many people interested in playing games like Tera for pvp, and even some that pvp are only doing it strictly for the rewards anyways, because these rewards in mmorpg pvp is how you get pve players to pvp; which is also why you see these very casual battlegrounds added. If competitive pvp was ever really focused by the player base it would have surely gotten more attention from both En Masse and BHS, as ultimately developers and publishers go with what would bring in the money.
I would have loved to connect my Atari 2600 to the internet back then to play a few matches of pong or boxing. Would have loved to play some NES Contra with someone in USA. But sadly the "Internet" from back then wasn't the big world reaching thing it is now. That was more intranets and closed university connections. Stuff that you would most likely not have at home. Stuff that most countries save world powers didn't even have. Heck, I first heard the word "Internet" on the late 90s. >.<
But again, this would be a subject for another thread.
And to stay on topic and to repeat my view, even though I don't do pvp at all here, people who do it are also players and human beings, and I would like to see their issues resolved just as our pve issues.
On a slightly side note, its not that unhealthy for a game to have a bit of focus on PvE, think of whats hapening in BDO now and you'll probably see the money grabing there, reasoning is...its competitive.
The fact the most populated server is still a PVP server speaks volumes.
NA Tera definitely warmed up to PVP during WHHM era but pleas fell on death ears.
Response to their cries and issues about balance was Kuma and Reaper.
I honestly don't have to say more.
Going back to Vanarchy type days is just another way of them attempting to keep us interested it seems.
Of course it's healthy to have some focus on PvE but every patch has been primarily about PvE. The new Kuma ground is a joke in itself. Felt like a insult to me.
Guess it's time to sit back and wait for the GvG revamp patch.
