Transmog Replacement!

I know a lot of newer players won't know about this feature we once had. So for those who don't know about this. Previously in Tera. We had the Transmogrification system. Which allowed you to reskin an item with the model of another item of the same time. It was an integral part of the previous costume system.

When I first started playing. This system was in place, and I loved it. Unfortunately, after a long absence. I came back to Tera to find the costuming system was changed and Transmog had been removed. I'm assuming this was done when the costuming system was changed from a 'Per-slot' system, to a 'One-piece' outfit system. I understand that with gear still using multiple slots, and outfit costumes only using one slot to cover all 3 gear pieces. Transmog is no longer viable for this.

However, the previously mentioned limitation due to slot differences does NOT apply to Weapon skins. There are a LOT of really awesome looking weapons in Tera. Especially for the older classes. Unfortunately, due to the removal of Transmog. These skins can no longer be enjoyed to their fullest. Which I find a shame, especially since most of them look a lot more awesome than most of the weapon skins available currently. Not to mention, all the time that someone put into modeling all those items.

For this reason, I think some form of replacement for the Transmog system should be reintroduced into Tera. Now, I'm aware that EME probably makes a good amount from the sale of EMP due to people wanting to buy costumes. So I can understand if they would be hesitant to reintroduce a system that only required in-game currency.

So what I propose is an item in the cash shop (for a reasonable price). Which when used will convert an item into a costume piece. The item should be usable on ONLY weapons. And the resulting costume item would retain it's soulbound status. In other words, If it's a soulbound, or otherwise non-tradeable weapon that's converted into a weapon skin. It remains soulbound / non-tradeable. But if it's unbound / tradeable. It remains unbound and tradeable.

I think an item like this would be a win-win for everyone involved. It would give players a much wider selection of weapon skins to choose from. The players who have been saving a ton of their old gear they worked hard for in the past. Would once again be able to proudly display the gear they worked so hard to obtain. And EME continues to make money related to costuming. :)

Well, mixing the cash shop into returning of something that was good would make it an incentive to BHS to actually return it. Also, that I remember, nobody really mentioned (not even a canned reason as to) why they removed such a nice system that allowed people to wear exactly what they wanted. Asset lag is not an excuse because right now people without a costume can still wear mis matches of gear. There's also still a LOT of gear piece models around so bloating is also not an excuse. So that made people (me included) think that it was just a way to force people into the cash shop, even though said cash shop was doing as well as it's doing now. I do believe that it would have created a similar or worse outrage back then if they simply moved the system into a cash shop item. Though they could have done it when the game moved to f2p, with said f2p being a more or less fair excuse to the change.

I originally started shortly after the game went f2p. So I can't speak for the atmosphere this would have caused then. But I think now it would be generally accepted and appreciated. As for my suggestion for it to be a Cash Shop item. Like you said, that's probably the best bet to get this actually added to the game. However, I could see them also adding it to the Federation Bill merchant, or more likely. Rewards Emporium.

Oh believe me, I would spam the system if it was re-added no matter what way they would add it. Sure, I'd be a bit more controlled if the made it through cash shop, unless it's vouchers that could also be traded, which for me would be a perfect all inclusive way.

Another item that would benefit from a return to this system would be the perma dyes, since a current outfit uses only one, where the old versions used three.
