Character slots - server merge question

Hello, I have some questions about server merge

"To help with this, all players who log on to Fey Forest will receive 4 Additional Character Slot items (not tradable) to use, after the merge happens. This bonus for Fey Forest will last for 30 days – until October 7, 2016."
- Can we claim a character slot before delete a character (a character who exceed my limit of 9 characters) ? Or I really need to buy a character slot before the merge, then I will earn 4 slots that I wont use.?

"*Characters only need to be in a deletion state, and not fully deleted, for you to enter the server."
- So I can pretend I'm gonna delete a lvl65 character, enter the server and take that free character slot, use it, back to character selection and cancel the delection?
- If not, what is this "delection state" ?

    Low level characters delete instantly, characters above Lv40 will delete in 24 hours. The 24 hour would be deletion state and I guess you can take advantage of it to be able to login to claim and use Character Slots.

    Deletion state happens for characters level 40 and above. It's the period of 24 hours where a character gets marked for deletion before actual deletion happens. So if you have 13 characters total, and your new limit is 10, I suppose through what I understood from the read, that you can mark 3 characters for deletion, enter the server, claim the character slots to raise your characters to 14, and then unmark the 3 characters you set for deletion before. IF that's how it is, then no damage will be done.

    To get the character slots you MUST enter the new server anyway.

    Now, if you have less characters than your limit and wish to transfer to AV, I suppose you can enter the server, grab the character slot items and transfer them to AV with one of your characters.

    Make sure any characters you do not want deleted instantly are level 40 or above. Level 40 can be reached very easily.

    Yup, I dont want to delete my character lvl 65 on VoT, so I don't know if I spend gold buying a char slot or I can use the free slot.

    (I have 9 lvl65 chars on LoT, and a lvl65 and lvl1 on VoT "I dont care about this low lvl one")

    I THINK, you can then delete the level 1, mark any other character 40+ for deletion, enter the new server to claim the 4 character slot items and use one of them so you can reclaim the character on deletion status. You will then have 3 character slot items you can move with you for free for AV if you want (if those are allowed to be transferred), or add those to the new server as well.
