Well, maybe September will yield something more substantive. It looks like here they're just trying to make them relevant in the 30 man raid... as tanks. [filtered]. These devs, man. Every time intimidation stance gets a boost while the class's true weakness remain glaringly obvious, it makes me wish they'd just scrap zerk tanking altogether.
Honestly if this is going to be BHS's continued solution to the zerktank issue, then I think they should just scrap it so they can focus on balancing the DPS issues. The class has enough weaknesses on both sides of the aisle, but the devs keep sinking their thinking into the tanking side of it, which barely anyone seriously uses anyway. Like, the next time you see an MM run or a DFHM run looking for a tank in LFG, try to apply as a zerk and see what happens. Yeah they "get the job done," but so does every other tank in the game and they're not rare enough anymore to make zerktanks worth the hassle.
Said it before and I'll say it again. These devs rarely care about balance until they have to apply zerker changes. They're scared to make zerk tanks on par with main-tank classes (which is fine) so we get a gimped tanking stance devoid of all but the most basic of tanking abilities (which is not fine). They can't even buff our thunder strike in pve without decimating its effectiveness in pvp. It's always one thing getting traded for another thing in the name of fairness when it comes to zerk. Every patch everything's crit resist gets higher when our damage relies exclusively on two skills critting often, but we don't get a passive crit boost because "that would make you too broken." Meanwhile, archer gets the passive crit boost and it lets them crit 80% of the time in subpar gear, totally okay. Or you look at reaper, who nobody really complained about except a few really bad korean players, and now they get buffs. Or you look at how zerk tanks were kept gimped so they wouldn't outdo lancers, but then brawler comes out and gets to outdo lancers AND dps classes. It really feels like the developers are terrified of making zerk too good, so they keep it gimped in every way imagineable. God help us if we didn't lose as much HP from overcharging, or if we had more HP, or if our cooldowns on our rolls were separated, or if we got a crit boost, or if our base attack was just higher on non crits to make it less devastating when we fail to crit multiple times in a row, because then we'd be just too broken. Brb though, gotta give reaper some more buffs.
I've started playing a lancer recently, and I actually have fun on it. I'm not saying I quit my zerk, but I love tanking. I originally made a zerk so I could tank and dps, but the tanking was just too messed up for me to stick with on zerk, and after brawler made tanking popular and [filtered]-easy, no one wanted a zerk tank anyway. Lancer feels like how a tank should feel. Going back to zerk tanking after lancer tanking feels like I'm tanking with no real protection. I have no personal shield, no self heal, no team buffs, no crowd controls, I have one stun but it's unreliable, and I feel so SLOW when I attack. It's like night and day. All it does well is holds aggro, and any tank with a pulse can do that right now. It's not enough to differentiate the class's tanking abilities and make it worth bringing for anything besides super easy content where the stakes are low.
I wonder how Ktera players feel about this.
