Total noob question

Hey, I've been working my butt off trying to get enough gold to buy myself an extra character slot, but just today my friend (lvl48) said that he had an untradeable one from somewhere. I haven't done most of the events and do have access to endgame stuff, how the hell do you get this "free character slot"?

Comments

  • As far as I know, when a new class is released we get one as free, other ways to get it is with EMP or on broker

The game provides 2 free character slots from the start. Right now, the game is balanced in a way that you will need ~20k ingame gold or $5 to buy a character slot (https://store.enmasse.com/tera/item/charslot/additional-character-slot).

To earn 20k gold ingame, the common way is to get both your characters to lvl 65 and start earning a bit gold additionally. Even if you dont have Elite subscritpion, you should yield slightly below 10k gold upon hitting lvl 65.

and there isn't any other event nor questline to be able to receive an untradeable character slot item? My friend had just made his new character a couple weeks ago, and he has somehow received an untradeable additional server character slot item. He has no idea how he got it, as he's pretty new to the game himself, so i'm just v confused that there may be a way to receive one currently
  • I would say to check your item claim. When the ninja class was released, all accounts received an additional character slot.
  • Your friend may have had the ACCOUNT made by the time the ninja was released. Creating a CHARACTER did never get us any free character slot with new classes releasing.

And yes, there is and was no other way we got a free character slot. No promotion code from external companies, no twitch stream code, no ingame GM event.

If you're a highlevel, just do your dailies. Find (basing on Pareto's principle) those 20% of your activities that gives you the most profit and work on them. Atm these are the BAM quests and DFNM. Concerning pvp you may want to spam Kumas and FWC cause gold out of them is real. Next one thing I can say is that elite revenue is around 4x higher than of an non-elite player. In case you want moar gold get elite, then everything else.

In case you're not lvl65 yet, you have to become one. Once you have lvl60, buy atleast a 30% quester gold boost for 5 hours and do all your lvl60+ storyline.

Also, concerning character slots. As far as I know, those who have an account before a class release get one account binded char slot.

P.S. When you reach 30k gold in a few hours just by doing the stuff written above, then you're on the right way.
  • *cough* That's not Pareto as it aims at the most efficiently but not the highest profit. However, in Tera, Pareto has been balanced nearly out as the base principle is not to force players into monotonous grinding. On the other hand, Tera offers many ways to make gold ingame. You're supposed to find a way that is the easiest for you but yields sufficient gold.

Example: I could decide to kill giant BAMs. These are hard hitters (as far as Tera as hard hitters) and you really have to concentrate on killing them. They give the highest rewards. Or you could kill Basilisks, which is very, very easy but only gives the smallest IoD reward. In this scenario, I decided to go for the Basilisks as I simultaneously can watch TV, listen to music, talk with other people or read news. The Basilisks do little damage, die quite fast and need very low attention.
