Sometimes I wonder how bored I am if I'd even deal with people like you. If you reroll to ninja, nobody will decline your party requests due to playing a suboptimal class(I don't think anyone is stupid enough to look at the currently most OP class and say "dat's underpowered"). That doesn't mean they won't decline because, for example, they read this topic and wouldn't touch you with a 10 ft pole.
I'm not the one sitting here demanding you play with me because I'm such a special snowflake and you are a whiny baby if you don't agree with me. That'd be you. I've said, repeatedly, that you have the right to play however you like and I have the right to walk away(or kick you, if the rest of the party agrees with me). You are the one saying that you have the right to play however you like but I don't have the same right if I'm not willing to put up with your demands.
Is it slightly more annoying/tedious to clear the trash mobs on the paths? Yes.
Do I have to pretty much go full aggro and forgo my DPS build due to lack of scythes if we bring another warrior in the party? Yes.
However, we still cleared, we still finished the dungeon, no one particularly struggled except for playing marginally better in order to ensure a clear rather than going through the motions like a robot if we were in a regular lancer/brawler tank/duo heals party.
And honestly, I find it fun to play outside of the meta; if it's not your style, all the same, we play what we like. After a while though, it gets boring having fast, easy, stressless clears with only lancer/brawlers/duo heal compositions. I like a challenge from time to time.
Actually...I don't. And I love the irony. You, talking about somebody else sitting in their high chair when you barely managed to make a post without bragging about how famous you are and mocking people who don't think you are the king of Tera.
PS: I keep coming because you keep pinging my name and now you even started PMing me.
Your statement was only about new classes, Brawler, with old classes being nerfed, Lancer/Zerk/Warrior. However, Lancer has been the biggest issue in preventing any other tank from being used on a mass scale. Lancer has received nothing but buffs, and it had already been the tank before Brawler's release, and is already back to being better than Brawler. All Brawler did was compete with Lancer, it wasn't competing with War/Zerk. Even if you delete Brawler now, why would an average person bother with Warrior tanking? Lancer deals far more damage, generates more aggro and Lancer tanking is much easier than Warrior tanking as a whole. Of course though, even though Lancer is an op tank, and Warrior is an op dps it's acceptable. After all, it's only a problem when a class is op if it's a "new class", other than that, let the old classes be as imbalanced as they can.
Didn't miss anything, you are simply ignoring my right to challenge opinions and false information as long as I do so respectfully. By the way, just because a statement is just an opinion, doesn't mean you don't have to defend the opinion. AN opinion that is an opinion with a foundation of 'cuz I said so' is not worth stating in a discussion, because at that point the whole purpose of the opinion is to simply cause harm. Also, just because Ninja is popular doesn't mean Gunner/Reaper is too. You have no numbers to back up your claim beyond "new classes". Not only that, but 2 of the 3 top dps classes aren't even "new classes". Again, the performance of "new classes" has never been backed up by any numbers, people say Gunner/Reaper are still op "cuz new classes". Ninja is the only "new class" that is doing well. Although, it seems some people are apparently stuck in the past where Gunner/Reaper haven't been nerfed. Not that any of this matters, the point of these posts aren't to discuss opinions/facts, but it's really to what people call circlejerk. You only want people who agree with you to reinforce the bias and don't want anyone challenging the opinions, especially with facts. Just look at how I challenged your misuse of a 'big word', you chose to completely ignore it.
I personally don't understand what's with people maining classes and then needing to convince everyone their class is worthless. Maybe someday you'll understand the perspective the community has on these classes is actually why on average they do pretty poorly.
Because of choices? Because people should still have the freedom to choose what to play as? See, I agree in a few things and disagree in a few others. I completely disagree in that people should move/force/nudge others into only playing FOTM. BUT, I agree, because of that freedom thing I just talked about, that some people will want to go for FOTM because it's their choice. It's also the choice of people to accept or reject others who play classes deemed inferior. So in this, my message is a bit different from OP's. I'm not forcing anything into anyone. A lightning bolt strike me right this minute if I ever try that. My message instead is to advice people to look beyond the FOTM (because maybe they will find something actually fun), and to those who are faithful to the 'inferior' classes, to also understand not everyone will agree with them. My other advice is to not force anything into anyone. Again. Advice.
As for the whole other side argument about my opinion, as I stated, it was my opinion. I still stand by it though I do understand your points and reasons why you don't agree with me.
No one forces anyone to play any classes. Only min-maxers are forced to play certain ways because they are focused on getting the fastest clear times. However, 99% of the player base is not impacted by this because those people would not invite any of them to speed runs even if they are playing the "right class". You're more likely to be rejected from a group for being considered trap regardless of your class, so, if anything, you're asked to play each class to a specific way and not play a class specifically. Taking a single negative experience and acting like it is a common thing is actually wrong, out of all the times I have ever received rage or any form of negative comment it was when I played Brawler or Lancer, never when I tanked as Zerk or War. In fact, I once had a group all die intentionally and respawned outside, came back in, to make me solo dps the first boss as Lancer all while trying to kick me. I guess based on my experiences people don't like Lancer/Brawler and prefer Warrior tanking, right?
-I hardly see Archers on TR
-I hardly see zerks on TR
-I hardly see Wars on TR, but enough to know not dead
-I mostly see Brawlers then Lancers on TR, but enough Lancers exist so they aren't dead
-I hardly see Sorc
-What is the most common DPS I see though Ninja Ninja Ninja Ninja Ninja Ninja Ninja
People in Tera and in general any MMO bandwagon hop to the next fotm class precisely because they are OP and precisely because they will have an easier time getting in statics or raids/ dungeons. The same applies to pvp. The balance devs create directly affects the community. If you choose to pick an inferior class your experience both with guild and LFGs undoubtedly will be affected in most cases. People give a pass for Ninjas and overlook their gear. I mean a +9 Slaughter Ninja can do >1m/s on DFNM. A Zerk applies to the party its OK man what gear you have, crystals, rolls, are you skilled, etc.
Which I find hilarious because my friends and I just came back to the game, we've been playing from launch... and we're Warrior Tank, Sorc, and Archer. The 3 classes I could say are pretty much the worst right now, but it's the classes we've played and we're good at what we do so it works out.
I'm not talking about single experiences. Sure, a single experience can have an impact in the person who experiences it, and said person can go around talking stuff about that single experience. So of course and as you just said, that's pretty wrong. Heck, this whole thread is about what OP has perceived because of his own experiences. And that's exactly why my two cents are not completely with him. I only advice or in this case, invite people to try things outside of the norm. Yes. They won't have the same experience. Yes, a lower dps class will give you slower clear times. But maybe the people involved in those runs had a more fun experience and may feel prouder to complete challenging content using a more challenging class for it. But that's just part of choices. At the core, I agree with him in the part about being able to clear the content with his chosen class and in offering people to look beyond FOTM for their runs. But in the end, from me it's just an offer.
Also, I personally don't know how many of the player base are currently shunning or rejecting 'inferior' classes. Not gonna go into numbers and fall in derp territory. But if OP is posting about it, at least in his experience, the number is significant.
A Lancer does the same thing, I actually have 2 setups on my Lancer, one being when I'm lazy or multitasking so I get to hold aggro without really focusing on Tera, unfortunately can't do that on other tanks.
Warrior tank is meh, not a big fan but it's better than zerker. I'll stick with lancer and brawler as tanks.
When I queue for a dungeon and end up with a good zerker / warri tank I don't leave the raid, but it's still annoying for me.
In the end everyone can play whatever they want so tzk.
