[Help] Advice for a new archer?

Hi Guys!

I'm posting on behalf of my boyfriend who just joined TERA about a month ago. I've been playing for about 3 years but never gotten into playing archer. He is in need of a few tips and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

"I just started playing TERA recently and hit 65 a couple weeks ago. I'm in full slaughter and have been doing decently well in dungeons like DFNM and FI. After recently hitting item level 410 and trying SSNM though, it was a different story.

With people on my team using DPS meters, I was doing only about 5-6% damage compared to the other DPS' 30-40%. I was having a lot of trouble staying behind bosses like the first one on SSNM and my rotation is likely non-optimal (trying to use radiant, rain of arrows, and rapid fire as much as I can, filling in with penetrating and thunderbolt, keeping endurance debuff and mark on).

Any tips from more experienced archers? I feel like while a good amount of this may be trouble getting around due to bad fps (around 5 in boss fights when everything kicks off) but I know I'm lacking in other departments."

Thank you!

I am not a pro or experienced archer at all, i have a mix of dreadnaught and slaughter but I can pull good dps in most dungeons (not high end like FI or SS since i generally dont do them), that guide can help your bf in the long run with gear/rolls/crystals or anything he might have missed while gearing up.
If hes getting bad fps, tell him to try Bernkastel's guide for optimizing your game and lower everything to 0. I myself play either with 0 or 1 presets, otherwise the game just gives me a big nope.
GL to you and your bf.

You need to upgrade your FPS. 5 is simply too low to throw in with the good FPS. Use optimization guides and run the dungeons in lower visual settings to try and get a bigger number there. More FPS will aid you with positioning and timings. As for skills in general, You are already running the big hitters (just make sure your glyphs are in the right place). Now, if your ping is also high (200 or so) then you may rethink about using RF because it will shoot slow. If that's the case, keep rotation to RoA, TB and the charges.
  • Not sure if you have high ping. Rapid fire makes a huge difference of DPS contribution between low and high ping.
  • His ping is normally around 50ms, so not high.

Definitely check out chunks guide, someone linked it above.
  • Like others have said, Chunt's guide is great. Specifically make sure that you are only casting the first shot of Final Salvo, as that is usually the problem I see most decent archers still do.

Talking about meter's on the Official Forums is a no-no.
Even though EME doesn't mind the meter's, They do not support mods in general.

That being Said. Archer's are a fun class to play, And with the Revamp coming along.
They are definitely going to pack more of a punch!
As for Chunt's guide. Everything look's good in aspect's of Glyphs, Rotation, Crystals.

As for 5 FPS. That's low. Like how are you playing low?
Best to turn down the graphics, Look for some Performance optimization guides or look into upgrading the PC.

That will hurt anyone's DPS, Let alone game-play in general
