Note that there is a lot of areas in TERA that are empty. You have for example the area behind Bastion, where the ghost city is. Next the "Unfinished" area, then you have the huge underground Argon Dungeon, Velika Wilds, The Pora Elinu Desert, The secret Beach next to Chebika and Tulufan, and the Argon Forest south of Pathfinder Post. These are just the ones i remember, but with so many areas that are huge in size, you could say BHS either just did those areas on a whim to fill empty spaces, or they planned ahead of time and will use those areas in the near future.

Fun Fact 2: TERA also was suppose to have a more in depth gathering system, where you could literally catch butterflies. Also, it was supposed to have a night cycle for Velika.

There was much more that was to be planned, but then felt satisfied with that they have, and ended progress.

Ultimately to me it feels like BHS is taking 2 roads right now with TERA: One that leads to the current situation, and the other that feels like they are finally adding what was suppose to be in the game since day 1, at least it feels that way to me. The addition of flying mounts is just one of those things. Soon enough we might be able to see a way to actually dive in water.

I am a relic of the past too, but i wasn't that well known back then. That has not changed since then :)

Anyways, i did not got into the TERA lore so much in the CBT. It was around the OBT when i started to learn about the lore, when a lot of things got renamed, and a lot of things got changed or removed, like the personal stores. Back then, you would see those elin-like dolls with horns all over Velika Freedom Plaza, and together with them a lot of Candyspinners (they used to be a personal shop too). They were removed because they caused tons of lag, but they remain in the files still.

There are 3 places in South Arun that were useful back then: The village outside Lumbertown, nice little cozy place to afk, The farm house right outside the Mysterium post in Celestial Hills, i think it had horses back then, and the Stable outside of Velika, which still has lots of gatherable plants which were used to make food for your horse. Yes you could feed your mount back then.

Next is a place that you can no longer access unless you saved that location in your Travel Journal: What i like to call the Ghost City of South Shara. Its location is Behind Bastion and is more like a mirage, because when you climb to the top of a mountain, you can clearly see the render of what was either a town, city or outpost, but when you arrive to the location, nothing is there, only dirt and a few roads.

Too many things have changed since the CBT, a lot of things got renamed too. The things mentioned in the OP are just a few of the many that got renamed.

But you know what? I do not know if its because of the flying mounts or something else, but there was a place next to Feral Valley, a place that had written "Unfinished" In Korean. That place can no longer be entered anymore unless you have it on Travel Journal. But the update of the flying mounts in South Shara, changed it. The big "Unfinished" word was removed. Could this mean that they finally plan to use that big space for something? or BHS did not took in count that people would notice that when they added the invisible walls?

The "unfinished" in Korean was removed because players with flying mounts were able to see beyond that point. Sadly, nothing is planned to be put there from my knowledge. All I know right now is that there is a possibility a part of baldera will be open to the public in a somewhat-near future patch (next year or so) in KTERA.

That unnamed place you see behind bastion has a concept art, and during CBT/Previews before CBT, it showed that this place had a city, which all you see now is a the underlay (where to place objects), and buildings and chains that once existed, but now there is just shadows of these buildings and chains (Invisible, walkthrough-able, still existant).

    Unnamed Area
    TERA_ConceptArt_43_.jpg
    And possibly...
    TERA_ConceptArt_99_.jpg

They didn't think they needed this extra area, so it was forgotten.

Fun Fact: TERA wasn't just to have mounts that you can feed, but boats that functioned, possibly diving (underwater), a ocean (not a void), a more Sci-Fi aspect (not just fantasy) and argon ships/motorcycles.

why remove the ocean this things are so cool makes me sad that they didn't make them :( and i wonder if they have all this spots that are unfinished why aren't they finishing them its been sooo long

I would fund them. I seriously would.
I'd move in with my parents just to give them my yearly 32,000 just to see this happen.
    I'm addicted.
    I need more.

These area and feature removals are probably based on time/mechanical/resource constrains.

As for the game in general, the whole rushed leveling and the current "starts at 65" mentality makes me doubt much more might be added. Even the newer level experience is being shortened, and I assume they will eventually make the 20-60 section a lot smaller too just like they made the 1-20 stuff, making huge parts of the world useless. Though making level up story too short would render level up dungeons kind of useless as well since they are the current way to fast level for most people.

Uhh, no. They didn't end progress. They got sued.

NcSoft sued BHS because some of the people who left NcSoft to make Tera worked on Lineage 3, and lets not lie, tera is built on the corpse of Lineage 3.

If I recall correctly, the result of the lawsuit basically stopped them from using some things they had planned. It's why after we got the queen patch there was absolutely NOTHING until we got Wounded world that was actually decent and added stuff.

Over a year ago some artist who worked for them or something put some some art labeled "Zera" that looked just like tera from a long time ago. Though I'm not sure if that was 100% real or not.
  • Anybody got some old screenshots of places that use to exist? i would love to see them <3

do u know what all the things that were stopped were ?

I don't know all the details, but I do know Krakatox was in the files back in 2012, but we didn't see him till 2014, and the baby kuma's as well. I'm sure there is someone who would recall in greater details the results of it.

I didn't want to mention this because this isn't a problem anymore, they're able to work on where they left off.
This is very old news, from a very long time ago, they can't fight over it anymore.

It's old news but you said they felt satisfied. I don't think they were. I think the tera that we have is a product of that circumstance and while BHS is working now to make it better, for a while it suffered. Over time plans changed and due to what they implemented in those times it shapes what we get now.

I feel that if the lawsuit hadn't happened the game would be very different.

I want to thank you for pointing ZERA out though, it gives me more of a field to research on.

Yeah I'm not sure how much there is too it, but looking at a video from 2008, the title certainly looks pretty similar.

    ~Edit~

I found the guys artstation, https://www.artstation.com/artist/flcl38 The images say copywrite 2005. Go google search the arists name and Tera and some interesting things show up.
