A lot of camps and areas were just renamed, there is a village out of Lumbertown that became unfinished and unused when NPCs were once there, and I know that there were whole areas removed after CBT (there was a argon ship/castle that was removed access from the map, and all that's left is the dungeon under the map around kanstia or something)... there were a couple of cities/camps that was scraped and became enemy territories... I can't really recall anything right now, but what are you looking into finding in particular?

Mostly a timeline for when during the beta Davarn's Refuge was removed and Unyielding Bastion renamed. I think the dungeon you mentioned is the one under the map a bit north of the Queen portal? Been in there.. somewhat confusing place without a map lol Sad to see it unused. Given the floating spear in the middle, I had always figured it was intended for after Queen as something to do with Manahan, but if it existed open way back then.. probably not.

For the OP, Davarn's Refuge is now called Zulfikar Fortress, and as the story we known today as Fraya's Fury: Kaidun, it became the replacement of the original hero's legacy (*which was shortened and many key features of his battle was removed, ex: In 'Fraya's Fury'). There was so many changes made that you probably won't ever find the original story about Davarn anymore, since overtime the remainder of his story was patched and removed around 2011 and 2012. In a short form, Kaidun is Davarn in a way, but most of his story has been lost forever after Beta.
As for the Refuge of the Lost, this is actually just the music title, not a place. Unyielding Bastion was the direct translation from CBT KTERA which we now know as Bastion in Southern Shara.
Any other questions about this, let me know. It's hard to recall data but I have some notes of TERA from that time period.

Zulfikar? That's a bit surprising. The NPC data mentions Val Kaeli a few times (the province Kanstria is in). Did the look change much? I don't remember there being a graveyard there..
Wasn't sure about Refuge of the Lost. The track said "Wayward Souls (Theme For Refuge of the Lost)" which made it seem like it was a place, so went with that. So little English info from that time. Unyielding Bastion being Bastion makes sense and already figured as much. Never hurts to confirm.

Hmm.. so that means no characters from that period are "alive", eh? Not sure how the character wiping rules were back during the CBTs/OBT. Secondary goal was trying to find someone who might have a char from the time and tele scrolls to those areas (I'm the nutty collector who posted a couple days ago).

This is only from I remember, and what I do remember is that a lot of map names were doubled/place holders at the time, so it was expected to be around there. There is a open graveyard somewhere outside of the area, and another removed one which I can't grab for you right now. The track you are talking about would be the title, I have the sound file in my... special folder...
I don't have anything from that time though, I jumped accounts a lot, but I recently decided to settle with one character, instead of a bunch.
    Good luck, though!

CBT was wiped everytime. OBT is when we finally got to stay and keep names...at least until the first merge then you had to be fast or lose. the only thing that transferred up until this time is some of the bonuses for being in CBT gold weapon skins.

Davarn and Kaidun are two different identies

Davarn was around during the end of the Holy Empire, long before we came into the story

    - Amidst such adversity and misery rose one Aman warrior, enraged by the endless brutality suffered by his people at the hands of the Giants, named Davarn. Davarn traveled to the Altar of the Deities and set himself on fire in an extreme plea for an end to the terrible subjugation of the Aman.

-The pain and cries of this young Aman warrior moved the patron deity Kaia, the only God to hear him

-The Amans have a strong sense of pride. Davarn did not wish for Kaia's direct assistance to the Amans, but rather giving them an opportunity to fight the Giants on a leveled playing field. Therefore Kaia went and look for Lok.

-With the help of Castanic master craftsmen, Kaia succeeded in nullifying the seal of subjugation. Liberated from the shackles of the seal, the Aman revolted against the Giants, finally winning their freedom after a long and hard fought campaign.

-Davarn, the young warrior who served as the key to opening the door to the Aman's freedom, was thereafter revered as the Liberator, and statues commemorating him can easily be found throughout territories inhabited by the Aman.

Oh, hmm... I must remember differently then. I remember him being axe'd out for Kaidun's story.
Edit: In my orginal post, I know they were two different people, but I meant was that the original lore for this character was shortened, then removed, then almost merged to add to Kaidun's story. The second round of CBT I was able to get to level 48 with a group of players, and I remember seeing the cut scene and story for this character... But not to long after it was removed, and over the P2P era of TERA, parts slowly ended up in Kaiduns, and Davarn's Story is no where to be seen. But I'm surprised you still have lore on this character. I wouldn't of.
  • one of the things i what to know is about the helmet and mask slots they are never used and then they added belt and brooch as if the gave up on them

Note that there is a lot of areas in TERA that are empty. You have for example the area behind Bastion, where the ghost city is. Next the "Unfinished" area, then you have the huge underground Argon Dungeon, Velika Wilds, The Pora Elinu Desert, The secret Beach next to Chebika and Tulufan, and the Argon Forest south of Pathfinder Post. These are just the ones i remember, but with so many areas that are huge in size, you could say BHS either just did those areas on a whim to fill empty spaces, or they planned ahead of time and will use those areas in the near future.

Fun Fact 2: TERA also was suppose to have a more in depth gathering system, where you could literally catch butterflies. Also, it was supposed to have a night cycle for Velika.

Pora Elinu Desert? Secret beach? The Argon forest.. Tirkai Forest? Or do you mean the place west of Scythera? O_o

  • A huge problem with TERA lore is that it has been changed so much since the betas and post launch that it is hard to keep track of it.

@NPU That is one of the unique things about TERA and the community, due to how the lore is handled a lot of people developed their own, which it starts to mimic our own worlds history, has it varies from region to region. On one hand yes it would be nice to have a defined story line that we can refer to quickly and then on the other its nice seeing all the different perceptions on the TERAs history. Just have fun with it and remember this is a chance to make your own story as well.
