What to do about surplus characters

I have a lot of characters across all servers, and I was unable to afford more character slots on HW before the merge to ensure I wouldn't lose any of my characters. How am I supposed to retain these characters when I do get money if it's going to force me to delete characters before I can log in to buy more? I don't understand why they can't just give us the additional slots for free to retain these characters that I've worked so hard on. Is there going to be any way around this? or am I going to have to delete characters regardless of whether or not I'm willing to spend the money for character slots?

    All characters over level 40 require 24 hours to be deleted. So you are going to have to put your characters into the deletion phase before you can log in. However, once you are able to log in Enmasse is giving us 4 free character slots to use on the new server so you can log in and use those and then go back to your character select screen and cancel the deletion phase.

    I am assuming you have the scenario of something like:

    HW has 9 characters
    LoT and VoT have 3 characters each.

    When the new server merges, you will have 9 slots on the server (highest of the 3).

    You will have a total of 15 characters.

    You will need to put 6 characters into deletion phase to enter the game to claim the character slots.

    You will then undelete 4 characters.

    You will STILL need to buy 2 more character slots to undelete the rest.

    Okay, thanks for the information. At least they're doing it better than EU did and not just forcing everyone to buy character slots.
