Daylight Savings makes it GMT/UTC-7 rather than -8, hence right now it's 8:48am PDT. And yes, DST is a massive pain. The Server Status page used to have the current Pacific time, but it seems to be gone now.

Yeah, it would be nice. I have to count from EST across to PDT to figure it out. Annoying. Especially if in some other country they aren't using Daylight Bull [filtered] Time like we do in the US.

totally off topic but the Daylight Bull [filtered] Time change in the US was essential for America's economy to grow just awhile ago. It might be outdated now but man that's some serious aggression for something your grandparents relied on :awesome:

It was a means of rationing during one of the World Wars. Yeah, I know. I also know that it costs billions of dollars in lost productivity twice a year and the death rate jumps by about 5% for the week following a time change.

its simple method as math history, anything behind pdt you add 3 hours more but if est ahead of pdt you minus by 3 hour = easy!

who implemented those pst pdt *shrugs* use gmt+/-

Instead of referring to a GMT map every time they need to know the time. They use names that are related to their geographical locations so that it is easier to remember.
  • I don't see how EST is easier than remember -5 unless you in BS-Time.

Well, the issue is that, right now most people are in EDT, which is actually GMT/UTC-4. (It's British Summer Time -5 though, because even the U.K. is not on GMT in the summer!)

Using the numbers is a good idea, but you just have to remember to adjust it the right way for Daylight Savings (which means you have to know when Daylight Savings starts/stops in each area, which is also different in different parts of the world due to reasons (there are a few weeks when U.S. and U.K. DST is different)... and keeping in mind the Southern Hemisphere is the opposite... and not all areas even do DST at all...)
  • ummmmmm where is my tera??
  • almost +12 hour from PDT, so it sucks for me hard :D lol
  • You guys will have alot of people transfering to the other server now due to not alot of us like pvp. Also why is a pve server going to be intwine with pvp servers?

Because there were entire threads discussing this when it was proposed. It was the best proposal to improve HW's end-game community, while also providing a sustainable future for the new server that wasn't also an also-ran. Plus, the actual effective risk of OWPvP for level 65 players is nearly zero due to all key locations being safe zones (including all of Island of Dawn), so people who dislike PvP aren't at a high risk, but can still reap the benefits of being combined with extra players. There is no risk of OWPvP while leveling due to it being PvP-65 -- different than the regular PvP servers. That trait will also likely bring some extra interest in the server whenever new classes are introduced.
  • For those who complain about the timezone conversion, just check on worldtimebuddy :v
  • @Lisharon For the love of God! Who the [filtered] cares if HW is merged into a PvP65! We won't be forced to PvP! Do you people even bother reading the FAQs and announcements?

That's too much work! Why can't you do it for them? :o
