Is Corsair's Stronghold still the only pvp map that gets played?

Thinking about returning to the game. Is CS still the only map that gets played at all?

back in may or something they changed the minimum level req to queue for cs to 65, and that alone made cs queues pretty bad

but then a few months later they introduced what was supposed to be the spiritual successor of kumasylum, "kumas royale". it can be queued at level 20 onwards and requires zero pvp gear or knowledge to play. this basically killed off cs and made it the second most unplayed bg, just ahead of grid now that crusades are gone

in terms of popularity, i would say the order is something like kumas > fwc > skyring (3s) > cs > grid nowadays. cs still pops daily i believe, but queue times look like 30 mins plus for a single game
  • That's good news to me. I played for two months straight and not ONCE, not even one single time was I ever able to get into a single other battleground. I don't even know what the others look like.

CS is not only killed off cuz of Kumas, CS sometimes glitch queues, making it even harder for players to get into the match.

Kuma's Royale is honestly only popping at high rates because of high xp returns for lowbies and lack of need to even understand how PvP works, which is honestly not a good thing at all, considering it made it so boring. It is now also the go-to for people to farm credits very mindlessly.

I rather CS being the only battleground than Kuma's Royale really.
  • I agree with metagame its like: Kumas > FWC > 3's > CS > Grid.
So basically there wasnt even a single Grid goin on since the removal of cursade. (At least for MT players)
FWC basically pops 24/7 now, which is just awesome af. For CS, it only pops at certain times. But at least if ur playin on MT, u could basically force-pop it in under 5 mins by lfg'in and "spammin" global for ppl to q cs. (At least dats what I'm doin^^ and it works :awesome: )
  • LoL. I remember the community crying because FWC was not popping. Now its popping a lot. Kumas, well, its the new CS.

Basically Kumas and FWC are the best options for grinding credits at this point.

Con on all this, prices on Sea Chest and Strongbox keys have never been higher. Except during JE, or the time, where there was a delay in FIHM release. In which you could farm Desolarus heats only from boxes basically.
  • What they really need to do is get a random queue going for all of the BGs like every other MMO, so all of the maps can be played.
  • To be honest, it really doesn't make sense to go with Kumas when you can do FWC for both credits.
If you do the dailies with elite status. 1 win + dailies will net you at least 9K KS & 6k Bellacarium Credits. Kumas give out 50% of the credits that Fraywind nets you plus way less killing spree since dailies don't help out with KS credits.

I only do Kumas for lvling and that's basically it, but que times are pretty tempting especially if we just want to get to a battleground quickly.

That's my main thing. I'm in a multiplayer mode and hopping around a bunch of different games to get my fix. I loved TERA's pvp (I find the pve boring but I rarely care for pve), but was pretty sick of CS being literally the only BG I ever played.

Wow, just tried out Kuma's Royale. I'm genuinely offended at how [filtered] awful this is. It feels like some creepy [filtered] [filtered].

Kumas also guarantee much greater reward.

It only show how bad decision was made in the past (separated mechanics CC in PvP from PvE). The game should should be easy to learn, but give very wide area of possibilities. Right now the game is hard, and even unplayable for new players (try find info how exactly skills act in PvP - it is completly different from PvE) and offer no variations. I mean It is all about repeat the same combo all the time.

    Uh... not quite.

PvP's difficulty never rose, PvE's difficulty dropped too much. That's why most people feel the non-existent difficulty spike on PvP

We have always depended on duels and testing to figure out what combos work and what doesn't. Tooltips give some idea as well on what staggers, what knockups, what stuns and whatnot.

PvP had always required time invested to learn and a huge portion about it is understanding your own class and its limitations inside out. Speeding up levelling through easy content and content that doesn't even use your character skills will never help you understand PvP.

The concept made in the past is not the best, but is deemed by players as one of the top (Pre-Reaper). Core-concept for pvp: knowledge, reaction and map awareness was taught from just learning the game. PvE may seem long, but the amount of time spent learning how to play is enough for any decent player to outshine most of the newer players who are learning now.

Tera was NEVER meant to be easy to learn, because the difficulty was meant to be part of the fun of the game. If anything, blame the new publisher for only wanting simpler and mindless content.

If you are pure PvE farming Kumas made a little sense because you don't really need KS credits for stuff other than the bonanza box.

But still I will be facepalming at the fact if you just said you are doing x content just for reward even though the game mode itself is horrible.

Bad games are not meant to be easy to learn. And you are wrong, Tera at release was much more based on common sense than just remember combos and repeat, thanks to RNG at CC and fact all skills had the same effect in PvP and PvE.

In PvP a thing what make it dificult should be only opponent. Nothing else. And as proff I send you to look at classic games:
    - football/soccer
    - poker
    - chess
    - dominoes
    - quake
    - starctaft
    - dota
(yes, I intentionally choose games from completely different genres)

All of this games are classic games that passed the time trial. All of them have at last one common point - easy to learn ruleset, and very wide range of opportunities. And the only difficulty in this games is the opponent, not absurd game system.[/quote]

  • Tera was always casual even by korean standards... they honestly complained about lack of grind at one point
