PvP65: Any tips or advice for the PvE players moved to Fey Forest?

For those of us who have only ever done PvE, what should we expect when we're merged into the new Fey Forest PvP65 server?

Do characters attack each other randomly?

Does being in a guild make us less likely to be attacked, or is it more like gangs where different guilds attack on sight?

Do characters have to intentionally initiate an attack, or can we end up accidentally attacking someone with something like an out of control combo chain?

Are there scrolls, charms, or other methods of opting out of PvP if we're having trouble when we just want to do daily quests or material gathering?

1: No, you use a "skill" that puts you in pvp mode where you can attack or be attacked, unless in safe zone i.e Velika, IoD etc

    2: That's called GvG

3: If you or they are PvP flagged, anything in range that can hit you, will hit you

4: Switching channels, stick to safe zones. IIRC IoD has everything you need.

If you're in mid grade or BiS gears then just use a crit power scroll and power charm to one-shot your assailant with a few skills.

I only attack those slowing me down in Northern Arun dailies such as mobbing and maybe gathering. I usually change channels for gathering to avoid PK'ing people. If you reject a party invite for a mobbing vanguard, then I'll just kill you if you were there already or ask you to change channels if I was the only one mobbing in the area or I'll kill anyone trying to kill steal mobs from me. So if you see me in a mobbing zone and you get a party invite, you will be better off accepting it unless you're almost done with the vanguard for that particular area.
  • Stay within Velika or other major cities to stay safe. You'll be given a skill at 65 called Outlaw. It can be flipped on or off at your leisure. If someone is flagged up they can attack you but you can hit back. Same if you're flagged up also.

The only time you will probably be attacked it this new server will be when you are doing something like tera mongo and two big parties spot a legendary mongo.

Gvg is dead since the crusade season is gone... No one gvg's unless its prearranged anymore...

(This does not mean they wont try to gvg the new guilds immediately to see if they can gank someone.)
Be a fast learner and see that canceling gvg is on guild tab ( page 1, tab4 I think ) .
*Also be sure to give people you trust the ability to cancel or start GVG ASAP, and tell them how. (Guild officers that are online the most)

Everyone cancels gvg, and even if you accept gvg and form a party the other guild usually sees the party and then decides not to battle. ("I wanted to gank people not battle! Im scared!!!")

Pvp outside the world? Not really, unless someone sets something up.

Pvp was always killing low-levels and killing people for stealing vanguard areas. They stoped the killing of low levels which helps greatly. And doing vanguard the old way is dead. EM started a system that randomly gives people vg quests, preventing people from grouping because they cant always have the same quests. This means that vanguard the old way is 5 times slower than it used to be. (party of 5) Then they raised vg points for certain dungens and battle grounds. This means that now you can spam a battle ground or dungen for 180 to 210 points, instead of doing the old vanguard for 120points.

This means that everyone is in the dungens and battlegrounds unless they are doing achievements. Killing people doing a world boss achievment?
Nope, world bosses are done in parties and ganking is done solo. I'd love to see a single ganker take on a party ready for a world boss. (they would have a healer, and probably a party of 5)

One question I don't see asked around. Can someone on your black list kill you in owpvp? Can you defend against such? I DO assume the answer is yes because of logic and stuff. But still clarification is welcome.

You mean a player in your block list? Yeah, you can still attack them and they can attack you.

Blacklisting only prevents chat not PvP. Yes they can hunt you down and kill you if they can find you on multiple chanels, flying around or know where you are at because they put a false char in your guild just to track your movements.

(Even if it could block a single person from attacking you, it wouldnt stop a group from attacking and if they are in that group they could still hit you. So if one person was obsessesed with you and could not find someone to group with he could just make a seprate account and group with a "standby char" Then attack you solo while keeping the other account in a town nearby" (duel screening)

Probably wont happen though, and you can always group up if you think it will. (I have gone 4 months without being attacked except for durring the tera mongo event)
  • You'll be ok, no one PVPs.

I'm curious about this as well... I'm 65 on FF. If I don't flag myself (turn on Outlaw) does that mean I am safe from attacks outside of the safe zones? Or is it that you can be attacked at 65 no matter what once outside of the safe zone? Thanks for any clarity anyone might have one this. Also, I've already noticed some people in Highwatch, with their character names in red - does this mean they are flagged as Outlaw?
  • @hellomynameis

I wouldn't be so sure. Some of us might make alts on FF incase we're lacking on our current servers :)

So many PvErs are spazzing out lol. Most places that matter are safezones. IoD is a safezone. All camps, outposts, cities, etc are safezones. Areas just outside dungeons are safezones. Festival areas are safezones. Most instanced areas are safezones.

You can play 99% of Teras endgame never leaving any safezone.

  • In all honesty, from the perspective of me and my guild, Unlucky, just don't [filtered] anyone off. Usually salt-wars will happen and people will go red to kill you, if you are an [filtered]. If you're some chill dude, people like us will literally go red to HELP you, or just help you against the people already red.

I don't know, the response seems pretty chill so far. Some of us just wanted to know what to expect.

It sounds like it's no big deal at level 65, and the only major problem was in the past. That was when people could pound on people who were below their level back before Tera was updated to prevent that.

I'll be mindful of my combo chains when grinding out my dailies though. When I'm zoning out and listening to tunes, I'm just clumsy enough to start a war with an errant shuriken.
