Server Merge

having read the details about the server merge I decide that I have no interest in being on a pvp server so I was considering the free move until I noticed the last bit at the bottom of the post .extra character slots ,wardrobe tabs and extra bank tabs will not be moved with your account during the free transfer period so basically you are penalising us the players for something that you the have decided to do regardless of the fact we have paid money for these items , your saying we cant have them if we move during the free transfer period , how is this fair to us ? and does that mean that if we have to spend more money on a transfer to be able to keep these items we have paid for already

  • Short answer yes,

PVP players think it is fair so we stay in the merged server, or have to pay to get the experience we chose and paid money for when making the character back.
PVE players like myself explained why we dont like it and we get ignored or straw man arguments are used why we dont like PVP and that we should just stop being salty.
    Long

Long answer has been discussed in all the other topics the last few weeks but no answer from EME about the reason for it (except maybe they already expect a lot of PVE players using the transfer and spend a lot of money on character tabs and bank space again.)
But go read the other topics for more info.
  • why should we lose the things we have paid for just because of a server merge that a lot of ppl probably don't want to be on in the first place if we wanted to be on a pvp server then we would have made our characters on a pvp server in the first place
  • You know, you aren't being forced into PvP so much as VoT and LoT are being forced to wait to PvP. Those of us from HW won't even notice the difference.

I really dont want to sound like a [filtered] because i am in the same situation and have voiced my opposition against the merger as it is now
(i do believe something needs to be done but not merging pve ith pvp)

However it is the fault of all the PVE people who did not speak up when the post about it came out a month ago.
The PVP side had a lot more people who where for the merger while those on the PVE side where in the minority, If a lot more PVE people would have spoken out sooner they might have made a different decision.
Even in the guild i am in a lot of people where horrified about the merging PVE and PVP but all of my attempts to have them post on the forum against it have been met with silence.

So yeah the inaction of all those who don't agree with this merger makes it seem that there are only a few who are against it.
So the decision was made and it is unlikely that they will change anything about it, now if there is a massive influx of complaining about it in the next couple of days they might try a bandage but if the same inaction of the PVE side stays the either
    1. a lot of PVE ers don't really care about the merger and stay regardless
    2. they just transfer silently and don't care that they have to spend money again (or a lot of gold)
    3. Or get pissed don't complain but just quite the game.

There were threads made by players from all three servers begging for there to be a merge. HW lacks a decent sized player base to do end game. LoT and VoT lack people overall. The pvp part of the server is going to be a non issue for anyone who just logs in to do dungeons and then afks in velika or highwatch

Also the solution for people who just cant handle being on a pvp server was posted on the end of this FAQ.

We hope that players will give the new server a chance before deciding to transfer off the new server. However, we also understand that some players would prefer to be on a server with no open world PVP. For these players, there will be a free transfer period from the new server to Ascension Valley (PVE) from September 9 to 13. Transfers will only be available FROM Fey Forest TO Ascension Valley within this time period.

Also during this time, we will raise the maximum gold that can be transferred from 50,000 to 200,000.

Character slots, wardrobe and bank tabs are all tied to the server, so the only way they could transfer that is via a merge. Even if you do paid transfers, that stuff doesn't transfer and you'd have to buy it again on your new server. It's not unfair to you, it's how the system works and it is likely EME can do little about it since they are only the publisher, not the developer.

if you are old enough to know how to download the game and use forums, you should be old enough to know that life isn't fair. btw, merge was announced month and a half ago as well as fact that you will have a chance to transfer to AV. month and a half was more than enough time to make character on AV, earn enough gold for character slots and bank expansions, find a guild and make friends. so your crying about it is kinda pointless. EME is not responsible for your laziness.
  • The only moment of the day you are outside safezones is to farm Island of Dawn, and it is a safezone in both pve and pvp servers, you cant get killed.

So the only time you MIGHT (probably wont, serioously) get killed by another player is if you are gathering materials somewere, or hunting world bosses after maint.

Theres no reason for people to leave the new server just because its PvP, when the big majority of the server PvEs...
  • Even then, I was leveling a character on LoT (or VoT, not sure). I saw a wall of 65 PvP'ers in my questing area. But guess what, I didn't just walk around them, I walked through the [filtered] storm and nothing bad happened to my lowbie [filtered].
  • months ago, I started a thread and lots of HW players which were hardcore, a bit or a lot, asked for merge, we are getting it, most of those people are happy now, and will be happy that those cry babies which was really making HW worse server of the game, leave FF.
  • I'm not sure it was the worst server, even then I'm not sure that is what would have made it the worst. I assumed the issue with end game was that everyone "knew" that HW was bad for end game and so didn't bother.

problem was, it wasn't even new player friendly, I have been in all servers and got lvl 65 in 4 of them and soon had in 5. as you can see now, their attitude is not helping and wasn't helping. EME did a good job, decided, ofc some ppl are not gonna like it, but they can't say they are forced to PVP, you can ignore it, I was pked multiple times during my lvling, my zerk was my 1st char in NA Tera and my 1st Zerk ever and we all know that Zerk is really an easy target early game for rangers, what happened to me? Nothing, absolutely nothing happened, I resurrected and started to do whatever I was doing, couple of times I even managed to fatally execute the PKer, so they are making big deal out of it for no reasons, and also it is lvl 65 pvp only, if you are afraid of couple of PVP fights, then there is not much discuss, is there?
  • It is not a fear of PvP that causes me to dislike it--it is the entire psychology that seems to go along with it in Tera. The animus and venom that are spewed by the no-lifers that spend every moment they can in the game to make sure that they can safely attack and kill 99% of the people they come across--that is what I dislike. I have no interest in putting anyone else down, so I will not invest the time and effort into gearing and training in the nuances of the character and skill mechanics to give myself a chance to survive or possibly win a PVP encounter. For those of you that get off on beating someone, that is fine and well for you, but does not align with my approach to PLAYing. To that point, I chose a PVE server to play on. And being put into a position of being penalized in order to maintain that status quo, to the extent that there may be things I cannot transfer to AV during the free transfer, is the thing that I resent about this entire undertaking.
I understand that it would have been unfair to the players on LoT and VoT to merge to a pure PVE server (even the change to PVP65 is a bit unfair to them), and nothing is perfect. But it would be easy enough for EME to support making whole the players who have to pay a penalty to take the free transfer to AV.

i just notice red people in velika B)
  • I wouldn't judge the server too early since it's only day 1 :) if the forums are to be believed, most people are eager to give carebear death hugs to the PvE only carebears.
