    Don't get too excited about gaining names you didn't have before. If they were taken prior to the merge and either of those players who had the name still play they can petition to have it taken from you.

    I know because I did this when someone took one of my highly popular names on my main server from my actual main character. I did a support ticket to petition for my name back and I got it back almost instantly. The person who was spamming global excitedly about having gained my name logged back in furious that I got my name back. It all happened in real time while online the entire time.

    Better have some backup names because the merge wasn't really meant to help anyone gain names and in name conflicts it seems to rename both people "freeing" up the name but support will then check by hand to see who it belongs to. If you never had it you won't win at all in the petition.

    You can write to support to get your names back. They don't tell anyone but in name conflicts neither person actually keeps the name. They have to petition support for their name back. If both people petition then they go down the list of criteria. If the person currently holding it never had it before the merge they lose it to the person who petitioned that they had it before the merge.

    I kept all 4 of mine, 3 of them aren't usual names. My slayer had a name that could gotten taken up. I guess I'm still "Laxin" with the names I have.

    Those who afk actually have a benefit. Holy [filtered]!!

    AFK=Longer Playtime and more likely to keep their name.

    That was true for the server merge in 2012 but not for this merge. This time, the name is automatically granted to the character who had the name on their previous server AND had the most play time. This eliminates the "name sniping" that was possible before.

    In other words, if your name was changed it means the person who kept the name was active in the past year AND had more play time on that character.

    I lost 'Yami' from HW but that's okay It was supposed to be an elin priest that I never managed to put time into. Haven't checked on 'Suzu' or 'Suzume' but I'm sure it's the same for them. Hoping for name wipe on other servers or for the user with the name 'Hanami' on TR to come back .____.
