Yeah. That's why I don't take +12 dps for 2 healer party. But, I do have +12 alts. If there is +15 imp ninja with 2 healers, I don't want to join the party with +12 zerker alt. People still share dps result.
As a DPS it is also just fine with me, I am not really much for speed runs unless I forgot they were doing maintenance today and had 30-20 mins to finish a raid. Poor priest, some dps practically just face tanked the damage.
P.S.: As a mystic, I have yet to encounter a mystic/priest that just focused on dps.The only times I did have a dps healer was as a dps.
i understand dps like big numbers which is why i don't complain a lot, but there's no challenge in having another person help you out when you only need to keep 4 other people alive. especially because i'm a priest main and can wipe my [filtered] on the keyboard and still have all my aoes hit
Ultimately, new players who are learning the dungeon get crippled by it. I can't tell you how many people I've met that CANNOT solo heal. I've even had tanks and DPS that refuse to run without double healer. I don't think it positively impacts the healers. The DPS? Sure, you get to do crazy high numbers, but the healer's lose out on valuable experience.
Having double heals isn't necessarily a problem but relying on it is. If you cannot solo heal content, then you are not up to par in terms of skill. Unfortunately, some people that fall into this aren't to blame. I know a lot of healer friends that WANT to solo heal and learn, but parties won't let them. The pressure from the community, in my opinion, restricts the growth of at least a few healers.
I've played Priest and Mystic since ABHM.
Basically i like the challenge of solo healing and take pride in that °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
To answer this id say YES it hinders their growth as a healer! i think its ok to duo heal through a dungeon if the healer is new and still learning. but after awhile its time to cut the safety lines and let them experience healing all on their own. ive come across quite a few healers who cant or refuse to solo heal, which is probably because they're so use to duo healing that they arent confident in healing solo.
I dont think its worth to have 2 healers in a 5man party unless you have 3 extremely high dps and oyu have priest+mystic, only then i think its worth it.
On my tank or dps i prefer running with double healer for mana or at least with a mystic though, so I can understand dps asking for double.
I don't think this meta hinders the growth of new players to the role, it actually gives more opportunity to witness and learn from others. This also promotes new healers to tackle down harder content. I know from experience that it's somewhat intimidating to jump into harder dungeons during the pure solo healing days. Even in training runs, the run becomes 100x more difficult if the healer was just as confused and inexperienced as the dps in the party. It can be somewhat demotivating. So having an additional healer in the party would ease up the pressure of being the sole reason your party wipes and increase the likelihood of clearing.
In terms of skill, I honestly believe its up to the individual to decide if they want to improve. Rather than blaming duo healing for incompetent healers, I would say it is purely up to the player to decide if they would use this meta as a stepping stone to improve oneself or to stay mediocre. The same can be said for other classes; there are some who seek to master their skills and others who stay stagnant with somewhat decent or dare I say low-grade skills.
Personally, I've never really encountered a problem with the option to solo or duo heal. Usually the party leader would ask if you preferred solo or duo and recruit accordingly. If not, become the party leader and recruit what you prefer. Technically solo healing doesn't determine skill level, just preference. Same goes for duo healing
A lot of healers are ONLY doing duo heals and only if the other healer is able to carry them. A lot of people also like to skip the initial learning phase of the dungeons where all dps/healers are unexperienced and wait few weeks till friends can invite them to exp runs as well~
Example, you cannot be lazy duo healing on queen while taking two debuffs each stand. I think taking two debuffs is harder than letting the healer skip and let each DPS take. SSHM has mobs that spawn, you can't just ignore these.
I've been playing Tera as a Mystic only since January, and it was hard getting into the endgame dungeons. Virtually all of my runs up until KDHM and FIHM were IMS, so I was solo healing for most of my early experience in endgame dungeons. One thing that definitely would have made those early runs easier to handle woulda been having a priest. Every little mistake (and OF COURSE newbies will make mistakes) I made carried significantly more weight as a solo healer, and something as simple as having a priest woulda made those times a lot less stressful and uninviting.
I encourage healers less experienced to go on double healer runs for dungeons they're new to before attempting to solo heal that dungeon, WITH THE GOAL of eventually being able to confidently solo heal that dungeon, and I encourage experienced healers to not be adverse to running double heal so that less experienced healers can have a chance to learn the dungeon, or so that other healers can have an easier time finding parties (it's a really distasteful thing for me personally to be told no simply because the healer that's already in the party wants to solo heal, and I'm sure it is distasteful for others who have had this happen to them, too).
