New Warrior - Class Under-Powered?

Hello folks!

I just came back to the game and thus far, I'm really enjoying every aspect. Well, questing sucks but the dungeons are fun...

Anyways, I've been toying around with a warrior as I like the quickness of the class and the overall mechanics. However, after also trying a gunner and even a priest, the warrior pretty much feels like I'm wacking the mobs with a wet noodle and the overall DPS just is, meh. At what point does the class's damage improve or this pretty much the case down the road as well? I read that they were an amazing DPS class but thus far, it sure doesn't feel like it. Granted, I'm only level 11 atm so that's probably the reason.

Sorry, I'm just trying to figure out what class I want to play and then focus on. The gunner is pretty exciting but isn't all that exciting to play. Even though I always play a ranged class, I figured I'd give a melee DPS class a shot and see how things go.

Thanks!

  • Do you have Assault Stance yet? That turns you into a real killing machine.

I actually just got it. Perhaps I need to level more before making an assessment on the class. I just don't want to get too far only to discover I really don't like it.

Warrior doesn't get its main damage dealers, Blade Draw and Scythe until very late when you compare with most other classes. BD comes at level 28 and Scythe at level 60. So yeah. It's gonna feel underwhelming at first, but warriors are pretty strong and also have good party utility in the form of the endurance debuffs you provide with Traverse Cut, making the whole party's DPS higher.
  • Well, just got mine to 24 and honestly, I don't think the class is for me. If anything, at least I have a better appreciation of them now. Thanks for all the input folks!
  • At max level (or really level 60) they are super fun. WAY more fun than the ninja, and I find the play style feels similar (fast melee that jumps all over the place).
  • I think where the warrior truly shines is the ability to make mistakes (like bad positioning or lazy) and survive. They have some of the best i-frames and they are on really short cooldowns, so you can dodge a lot of skills that other classes are going to have to run from or die.
  • First character i leveled was a warrior.
Was difficult leveling and learning their abilities at first, but as others have mentioned, at higher level's they really do shine.
Just takes patience, But it definitely is a good 1v1 class if your into pvp. Their CC / Stuns make them a great class.

proper gear+proper glyphs+proper skill rotation = killing machine. though, lot of time and practice needed to maximize your dps.
  • I really recommend playing as warrior until you get Blade Draw to play around with. You start doing as much as any other class with it. But at lvl 65 you pretty much do have to pay extra attention and put more effort if you want to catch up in DPS with other classes.
  • You dont konw what a class can really do till you are lvl 65 with decent gear.

Warriors are AWESOME. And got a buff not long ago, keep it up, its a hard class ive played it for 2 years, but men its probably the most fun. You literally have 5 iframes with no cd, and another long iframe (death from above) that can also buff you. Its a very dynamic and fast class, NEVER judge ANY class before you are max lvl, you get skills till lvl 65 included.

One thing about warriors is that you gotta love stun raping BAMs to death when you get to lv.65. Stuns make it much easier for you to fight these bosses. That's why warrior is one of the best classes to do IOD dailies with because they have so many stuns that it'll pretty much hold a boss in front of you for about at least 10 seconds. Stuns are a life-saver for me with fighting those pesky Iron Giants. I can basically 100-0 a high-tier or mid-tier BAM to death in IOD in about 10-15 seconds if I have a Keening Dawn with a +12 Slaughter weapon fully PVE-rolled.

Their DPS is pretty good, they hit really hard at lv.65. Most classes don't reveal their potential till lv.65. They are really strong in PVP. You also have to make sure you have all of your Rare Glyphs for any class especially warriors if you wanna do alot of damage. Warrior glyphs make a huge difference in DPS and how often you can use Scythe at 10 edge. Scythe at 10 edge is gonna be your main damaging move.

Warrior is the fastest class period. Warriors can't mob that well, but they can aggro mobs really well due to having battle cry covering a huge radius around you, being beat by berserkers, lancers, and brawlers.
  • Ninjas are faster. Not that I prefer ninjas. If you've read my posts, you know I hate ninjas. Still. I need to include that correction.
  • I recently just made a warrior toon and leveled him to 39 and he feels very smooth
Compared to other classes I tried he's very fast paced and just melts through mobs, even bams

I said this time and again, it's down to the player.

You played gunner, who gets their nuke skills very early on. If you like nuking things, gunner is for you.

Warrior's playstyle revolves entirely around the edge system. And edge system doesn't really fit the in-your-face idea that newbie casuals like. It also used to get the difficulty rating of 4.5/5, showing that it isn't for the average player.

At low levels very under powered but when you start getting avatar weapons as well as other skills it picks up, but not to the level of the newer classes. Warriors are unique class, they are like wind up toys, you don't do huge damage at the start, you work up to it. In the end you can do well but your main charms are supporting with debuffs and up time on the boss due to the amount of fast iFrames.

You will never be on par as far as personal dam out put of most of the other classes but you help them do more.
