Is the game terribly boring for new players?

They made the game too easy to play.
Avatar weapons made it to where you don't have to do quests to be super geared to solo most lower dungeons. There's no... push back? You can quickly level and skip areas.
I miss the IoD for that. You had to explore. Had to go around. The Stepstone Isle is too quick and it's a straight back.

Back in the day -(P2P) to Reaper patch- they had the game actually time worthy and a little difficult as you got use to playing. These days, it's handed to you as you level.
  • power lvling existed "Back in Day" too

lvling is not boring cus its fast. lvling is boring cus its boring. the dungeons you spam to get to 65 are identical even in textures. thats lame as [filtered].
who forces u to spam dunges. dont spam em. and i dont think CR is identical to LoT or ET or watever. maybe im blind idk
and i hvnt said its boring. its fast. shouldnt be that fast. must be slow

you have to do dgs even when you pick questing method, which is stupid.

Tera is not a casual game even though it advertises to be one

Second Tera is a game that only cares about endgame and not the Journey which is a common trait among most Korean grindy games.

tera is overly casual now.. you used to need to be part of a static team to get vm gears, now you can get from queing -.-
and almost every mmo focuses on endgame because NEWS FLASH thats where 98% of the players are at.. no one plays a game just to level forever..you level up to cap and then the real fun begins, that is how you mmo.

  • i played TERA recently. and TERA is my first mmorpg. trust me.. its boring. i keep playing non stop for 2 weeks. and I am level 61 now..... Im too lazy to do the story quest now because it is too easy. My friend say TERA is good. But, it just boring now. guess this game is too old now. I bet the game is much better in the old days. But not anymore. For a new player.

The original version of Tera back before F2P was a slower grind that allowed you to get a little more into the story and dungeons, etc. But now that everything is sped up so you can hit endgame fast it just passes you by. You use to be able to run dungeons in your level range multiple times while questing but now you basically get one shot or you out level the que level range. The dungeons back then were also used to get better weapons and gear while now you just make an Avatar weapon and bam, pretty much faceroll everything in your level range. Being from back when it launched I prefer the old way but Tera, like everything, evolves and changes and I either have to like it and stick with it or hate it and leave. Combat is too good for me to leave for long so I just put up with Tera and the changes I don't like.

As a new player I was glad leveling had so many options, Kumas, quest areas and dungs. Bc I'm on my 3rd character trying to get a feel for which I like best.
I liked to explore the landscape and fight the different mods, but I really liked that I could skip frustrating areas, like those cave ones at lvl 45 to 50ish. Anyway my 2 cents

Remember there was/is an NPC named "cute kid/child" in Crescentia, somewhere down there on the farm... on those areas that used to be so fun to quest? With the hyenas and noruks?
Yeah, this kid NPC looked just like Anya.

Yes. I still remember the non whinny crying all the second version of Anya.

and I wish people would meet her there.

I'm not gonna lie, making alts was too slow back then, and still not worth spending on a Lv 60/58 scroll in my opinion, but I can't say I prefer it now. Sure, you rush fast to the end game but... like said, the journey is lost, it's just like "yeah. You're already half way to the cap. Grats bud".

If the intention was to make a rushing route to make alts or a fast way to reach endgame, I think an alternative path instead of a substitutive one would be better.

I believe the best course of action for a new player in TERA is...

...to really learn your class and get into the action-style combat. It's one of the things I love most about this game. Find a rotation of skills that works best for you & get to know your enemies (BAMs/bosses) really well. Don't be so concerned with rushing to max level. If you get there too fast, you will be clueless with being an effective end-game combatant / tank / healer.
