This server merge was a terrible mistake

Many people of both the PvP and PvE side of this are disappointed. Myself and countless others left the PvP servers because we just want to hang out and have fun without constantly looking over our shoulder. And I know very well that many of the PvP players love the thrill of living in a world of chaos. Although I have no respect for the thought, many players from PvP servers have fun slaughtering lower levels or even levels equal to their own while they themselves aren't yet 65. Its a matter of preference.
But this merge was like cutting up your steak and mixing it in your bowl of ice cream. They're completely different experiences. Mixing the two only makes one bad taste. And while we've been given the option to transfer to AV, its still a one-sided "solution". The people of HW have their roots too deep to just leave. And even if we do, there's no way we'd be able to take everything with us. Its not right. Why would it ever be a good idea to put the people who kill others for minding their own business and having fun in the home of the people who want to mind their own business and have fun? I really wish this could be undone. Because this isn't progress. It's just madness.

The new server is what the community makes of it. I personally visited yesterday and as far as I could see, it was lively. If it doesn't work out you have nobody to blame but yourselves. EME did the right thing.
  • I actually like the new server. I actually lagged and have people/NPCs not render in HW, LFG looked lovely, and I had no trouble getting into groups.

From what else I've gathered, the PvP is up and running in their usual areas while my friends and I (carebears) port from sz to sz as usual.

OMG you guys are lucky you get to transfer to a PVP server for free. I think enmasse should just stop being gracious and stuff. We dont deserve these stuff and yet they give them.

EME did not take the best choice, it was the right thing, but this would be best if they merged PvE servers between them and PvP servers between them, and not PvE+PvP merge.

    That was the mistake.

I still do not think the PvE+PvP merge into a PvP server is a big deal, but that's just my opinion. And for the record I'm on a PvE server. I wouldn't mind if I got merged into a PvP one, and I'm not a PvP player.

You can go hang out in velika outskirts or any other location and be untouched for hours. We are just that civil, shocking I know. And we've known that it's a pvp65 server for how long now?

Its unfair to be given a multiple choice scenario where you don't like either
A: Stay and not enjoy the game.
    or
B: leave but not get to have all your character slots, bank slots or bank inventory.

It's entirely one-sided. Its a lose lose scenario. At least give us the option to transfer all we worked hard for when you force us out.

If you want to be on a PvP server why aren't you on one? Most people who choose a server know the server type they want before they choose it.

It would have been a far smarter decision to merge the pvp servers into a full pvp server not just level 65, and merge highwatch onto one of the other pve servers. That way everyone would get the server type they chose. Now no one of the merged servers does.

A: You can stay and learn to enjoy your new home...
    or
    B: Move on.

Stop being so negative, En Masse has given everyone an incentive to stay. If you want to leave, take the 4 free Character Slots and free server transfer to AV.

That point WOULD have weight. However, Velika Outskirts isn't where the PKers would find easy prey. I've searched and My suspicions were correct. Red names all over areas where there are gathering dailies. And don't start with that "PvEers can just stand in a save zone and queue" cus its not true. When ppl get their gear, they need money, feedstock and credits for MWA boxes. They go out to do dailies and they get attacked.
  • To be fair, it doesn't change a lot of things. Lazy PvE dungeoneers looking me still use scrolls to get to their dungeons from a lfg, "owPvP" still happens among the level 65's in VO and other areas.

As for merging like with like there was extensive discussion done before the merge even happened.

I started out on pvp servers. I couldn't enjoy myself. That's why I switched to pve servers. And now this. Its always "go to a pve server" with pvp players. That isn't gonna sit right when you force pve players into a pvp environment!

And I only learned of this discussion today. Perhaps if a discussiion involves someone, they should know it exists. Not everyone has the kind of schedule to check forums every day. not once did I hear anyone go "BTW there's this discussion over on the forums that concerns you"
  • No, it's not. The worst part of PvP is completely avoided by restricting OWPvP to level 65 where you will only leave a safe zone for a few reasons, which include PvP.
  • @QKumber94 Then don't do gathering dailies and do IoD instead? Or just go to AV when the transfers open up. There's a ton of ways to get around the OWPvP, but you're obviously not trying hard enough to notice it.
