This server merge was a terrible mistake

And of course there was the occasional pvp enthusiasts on high watch who you must really worry about their intelligence for choosing a pve server if they wanted pvp.
It's been said before, the incoming content "requirements" and the QoL changes it brings can outweight the negative aspects. The main complaint about OWPvP, for example, was that lvl 65 could slaughter lowbies, that problem is solved now. VoT and LoT were small and needed population in general, but the one thing the 3 servers needed was players willing to run top end game content and now I see the chance of improvement; also, don't forget the next couple of patches will need servers to have a good amount of active players since they're focused on mass PvP (the guilded age siege) and raids (30-man wyvern raid), it wasn't a joke whenever someone said it would take the whole end game community on each of the 3 servers to clear the 30-man dungeon.
Economy also got a boost, +12 crit innerwear costed 60k before the merge, now, thanks to it and the release of the new innerwear, the price is around 15-20k. About players who didn't get the memo, well, I have a few friends who also play only 1 or 2 hours a day, some of them play a whole week and don't login at all in the next one, and even them managed to hear about the merge. The truth is, this was announced in twitter, in facebook, in reddit, in the forums, via e-mail, the GMs visited the merged servers... the one thing they missed was, perhaps, making a video in the YT channel and making an in-game announcement... and even then some will stay say they were never informed about.
I won't try to convince you, I'm not going to tell you that I've never ran across PK'ers at max level, because there are, but just because you found 2 or 3 in a party doesn't mean FF is a 24-hour battle royale. Those guys you saw will eventually realize almost no one does those quests and will conclude (like every other single PvP'er) that camping the vanguard zones is a waste of time.
Ahem... that is incorrect. We have the option to transfer characters and 200,000 gold. We don't get to take our extra character slots, extra bank slots and bank inventory with us.
Plenty of PvP enthusiasts have chosen PvE servers as their home for their own reasons, I'd worry about you for not understanding their choice.
200k gold limit is per character. If you have extra slots, I recommend placing extra slots in the inventory of the first character you plan to server transfer to AV.
If you look at the game systems, the safe zones, the actual likelihood of encountering OWPvP at 65, the risk is negligible and most people will avoid it entirely (or can easily do so by choosing to do dailies and gathering on IoD). So that's why this combination makes sense. The issue is really that some people feel so strongly about this regardless of the tangible risk, and that's why the option to go to AV was opened in the first place. But it is intentionally the less preferable of the options because most people will be fine staying on FF and should be encouraged to do so in order to deliver the benefits of the merge.
Yeah. But that isn't gonna be everything. I have 12 chars on what used to be HW. the 5 I have on AV + the 4 is still not 12. Its not a real solution if it doesn't actually solve the problem.
The solution you're seeking to your problem isn't real either, in fact I don't think there will ever be a real solution to someone that complains about every little single thing.
Nothing will fully solve your problem, and it's by design. The system is intended to encourage you to stay on FF to minimize your own cost and to maximize the overall benefit of the merger by retaining a high/active population. It is specifically appealing to your self-interest to encourage you to compromise by sticking around. If they did not have this leverage, a lot of PvE players would move to AV simply based on their prejudice/preconceptions without actually considering the benefits of staying put, and this would negate the entire reason for involving HW in the first place (because it needs the added population for current and on-going end-game content).
So the long and short of it is that people who will not/cannot compromise on this PvP-65 design will have to bear the cost of their preference, as applicable, although the free transfer will reduce the cost to some degree. It sucks because you're in that demographic, but it was necessary to achieve the overall objective. It's like being in a boardroom meeting and your opinion gets out-voted, no matter how good you think it was. It wasn't possible to accomplish the objectives of the merger and make everyone happy.
Its an unfortunate bussiness decision that its the ones who spend money (large numbers of character/bank slots so they cannot move) that are the ones treated worst.
Hoping the majority of these spending players will magically decide they like pvp even though they signed up for a pve server is naive.
It might be a good idea to allow elite players and those who have spent above a certain amount of real world money in total to move everything to av if they choose.
