    ^Right there, on that page.
"Weekly server maintenance occurs on Tuesday mornings from 7–9 a.m. Pacific."

And since it's 9:50 AM, that page announces absolutely nothing. Or does the difference between 9 am and 9:50 am confuse you somehow?
However, in-game it was announced that today's maintenance would take 3 hours instead of the regularly scheduled two.

Don't care what was announced in game, I wasn't there, didn't see it, you are currently proving OP's point that information is mostly given by players instead of the staff.
Just keep an eye on the server status page to know when everything's green.

I don't really want to play the F5 mini-game for 1h. If only they could do something...like...I don't know...maybe...could it possibly be...an announcement?

    Don't want to play it?
    The don't.
Check back in an hour and see if the hamster is running.

The other MMOs I play don't post anything on their forums about their regular maintenance times and only update if it's going to take longer if something's gone catastrophic (except EVE, because we like to take any opportunity to demand free SP). I'll admit, it'd be helpful to have a "Servers Online" function on the launcher at the very least.

Any chance we could get server maintenance in its own category under 'Official TERA news' or maybe a link.

I can't find the patch notes though I did find out about an emergency server maintenance that I wasn't on for. I didn't need to know about that, just want the patch notes for this week or at least something saying they aren't up so I can stop looking. Everything is jumbled together under news and it is kind of annoying.

Most of my awareness about the game changes comes from player posts which is BAD!

server maintenance is every tuesday 7-9 AM PDT, unless it's been announced differently.

It's 9:40 AM right now, can you find me the announcement?

Which is how it should be done. Routine maintenance ends at 9 AM. If it's going to take longer, there should be some sort of information. Preferably before 9 AM...not over 1 hour after it was supposed to end....

Unfortunately, script kiddie was the cause of the delay. :expressionless:
  • Instead of complaining you should be glad that they took a few minutes from fixing the issue so we can play, to inform us that there is a delay. They could have just ignored the community all together.

    Not complaining, mostly joking.

Just saying it would be nice to have a post that says: "Starting maintenance now, estimated time 3hrs."

Its just not a nice thing to do in general, keeping people in the dark that is and its really REALLY simple to avoid.

You can justify it against other games all you like but the effort to avoid all confusion is so little, I don't see why."

Allot of people wouldn't know the servers were going down for 3hrs instead of two because they weren't there this morning when it closed. They have no idea what that extra hour means, serious or not.
  • Normally, there's an announcement for any "atypical" maintenance, which could include being on a day other than Tuesday, or being for an extended time. (There normally is no forum announcement for maintenance at the regular schedule.) But in this case, they didn't post one; most likely, the decision it would take longer was by the technicians working on it this morning and wasn't communicated to the Community Team (etc.) yesterday, so they didn't know to get the word out. At least it seems they did get the message out on the servers themselves, and posted on the forum once it was extended further.

It was directed at TWM, not you. Sorry for the confusion!

OMG, you are so right. I shouldn't complain about anything, ever. I mean, they publish this game and accept payments. That's, like, all we need them to do. I'm sure all the GMs were hard at work, under the table, fixing the servers and just got so carried away, they didn't realise how late it was. One of them crawled out from under the table, covered in oil, to catch his breath. He saw the clock and, while screwing something loose with his toe, made a post on the forum to inform us that they are running late. I'm sure that's exactly what happened. And not something trivial like "they forgot". Asking for better quality of service is never a good thing to do. I have learned my lesson and will make sure to remind you of it the next time you decide to complain about anything.
