Get better graphic options.. and fix resolution with 1920x1080

Let me start by saying.. I have this issue on tera I can have ALL the graphic options on max and have a smooth game IF I don't have the lightning enrichment option on at all, but without that on, the terrain in the game has no depth and looks like paper little bit. I started testing everything.. the problem is, the game cant handle that high resolution it seems, ANY(any below the last 2 option of 16:9 wide) res lower than that one, can run smoothly with the enrichment option on max.. but on max enrichment with a lower setting of resolution than my default(1920x1080) makes the game look like I'm a old man trying to squint to see something, that's how blurry it looks with low resolution and max enrichment. (the picture is showing the settings with max everything on 1920x1080 res with 0 enrichment)

Now the suggestion: ADD more graphic option.. even with the enrichment on, the game doesn't look that much better. Also add more customization to the character creation.. I like playing as animal characters.. but(unless I didn't see it) you have only options with CERTAIN hairs that choose your ears and tails.. I want to be able to choose a hair WITH a CHOOSING ears and tail :(.

Tera.. the mmorpg is great. I feel as you made a great game, but the story in the game is boring to me, I think it needs more spice into the flavor, and maybe add more voices to some NPC's.

Tera is awesome, but with more advanced graphics, story, character customs(when you make your character) it would be better.

Also maybe add a gamepad option where you can hook up a controller and start playing it? I've always been more of a controller fan than a mouse and keyboard.

I'm not good at suggesting stuff, nor know what systems or graphic program type stuff you use on games, but the other pictures are from a game called Blade And(&) Soul. Also add a freakin upload option to the forums..

Yeah. Tera is known as being very poorly optimized, or in my opinion, not optimized at all to run on a computer made on Earth. Much of the pain is having to run both the raw visuals with a raw UI and both struggling to squeeze the CPU while using the GPU to make things a little bit prettier (it heats up the GPU to insane levels even if it doesn't even fully utilize it), so people have learned to accept it and run in lower settings or go for optimization tweaks. You may have to google for the more delicate edits as those deal with editing a .ini file.

I personally run at 1080p on a GTX 680 and already got used to the fps drops on crowded places and dungeons, and are ready to drop everything to completely lowest (even low performance dimming) if I'm to go to places with many folks around like boss spawn events like those spacecats is so fond on doing. He seems to have a computer not made on Earth since he can spawn 300 bosses on an area with 100 players. :3

Can I also have the ability to choose horns and hair separate, I really wanted the horns I currently have, but they came with an ugly hairdo and now I wear a hat because I can't live with my decision.

Would love to see better optimization for Tera, I run an older gaming computer and get like 40fps so it's nice, but I feel like it could be better.

I think bhs gave up on running a coherent story. The story is maybe supposed to be like we're just doing whatever we're told, but then why the subterfuge in the beginning as if we're an independent minded "Hero" and now we're "just following orders" and there's no reason to what we do.. unless I missed something along the way, which is possible.

There's a gamepad option, they put it in quite a while ago, I'll update this post when i remember how to do it.
**Edit** So it looks like you just make sure the box in (while in game) Options>Game>Gamepad Setup is ticked off (no checkmark) and then you exit game and hook up your gamepad, then just restart game and set your skills to the ui that shows up it looks like a controller.
Here's all the cool stuff because I'm lazy and someone else already typed it out. teratoday.com/content/tera-guide/tera-general-guide/tera-game-controller-guide-deekin

I think BHS already stated that there will be such a large scale optimization.

As far as I know, BHS said large scale optimization for Tera is almost equals to re - making the whole game it selves. Tera was made to run in 32 - bit, not 64 - bit.

Also, the cost of such optimization is too expensive, due to the amount of work. Unless the game proves it still has the potential to attract more players than the current amount of active players, re - making it is out of the question.

Last and not least, Tera is an old game, yes, it has aged well, but still an old game. BHS will rather put more investment to create new content for the game to get as much money as they can ( WOW is a perfect example of that, but Tera is still lesser in term of population), or just make another Tera 2.0.

I feel your frustration, really, but if I put my POV as a game developer, it's unlikely (not impossible) to happen soon

Games with similar to smaller population have updated their engines in the past, even redoing the game from a graphical standpoint. It's just BHS realizes they can continue to have us play with low frame rates and still continue making money. Tera has no competition in the Action Combat genre, as other "Action Combat" games are actually hybrids and not like Tera. WHen you lack competition then you get to pretty much slack off. It's like this anytime there are no competition. Just look at Intel... they still make duo and quad core CPUs for the vast majority of consumers for a high price and it's almost 2017, because they lack competition. Tera will most likely stay the way it is, with poor experiments after another unless another game tries to take Tera's place, but the thing is, a lot of people honestly aren't interested in full action combat.

An assumption about why not many want an action combat mmo is that they may find that way of gaming more suitable for pvp games like mobas. If Tera focused much more in balancing pvp, and into making pvp it's most prominent feature, I bet we would see a surge of players and a possibility for BHS realizing they need to update their game for more computer configurations. Again, an assumption on how I see the numbers and from talks I've had with friends and such.

MMORPGs aren't really a genre people play strictly for pvp. Other genres will always be better for a complete focus on pvp. Considering even pvpers were competitive in pve where as many pvers either don't care for pvp or only do it for rewards since at times pvp rewards far more items for pve than pve itself, making pvp the focus would just make the game worse. There are far better options for pvp focused games, even for MMORPGs. You don't need pvp to have competition, which is why many people are fine with pve as they continue to push for the highest dps and fastest runs. There's a reason why in MMORPGs pvp have to be rewarding, where as in other genres you don't have to make rewards a big focus... especially considering after a point you receive no rewards; such as in LoL, if you unlock everything after that any match you play you're not actually receiving any rewards beyond the enjoyment of playing the game.
