A few suggestions from returning player.

Hiya it's been a while and I am glad to be back =3

Along with my return, I have a few suggestions that you may consider, which in my eyes could improve the game and make more people play it and enjoy the game at its best.

1> The PvE in the open world.
Tragically too easy, with Avatar weapons included to the game and easy access to innerwear even at lvl 5 and amazignly easy enchanting system allowing people to get full +9 set with no problem at all, a reasonable move would be also increasing difficulty of mobs and especially BAMs. Being able to 2-3 hit KO a huge boss with no effort is both - cheap and not fun. It may give chills of feeling so strong at first, but later it gets really boring because of no challenge at all. Remember - no challenge = no fun = boredom = less people playing. Make BAMs not only being Big... but also dangerous and rewarding..... and here goes the point number 2.
2> Rewards:
Besides some drop rates being awful, I mainly mean the quests rewards. With Avatar weapons added to the game, there is no reason of getting useless pieces of gear of quality so low that they are not even worth turning into feedstock... instead should be a feedstock reward or some boosts allowing player to fight better and make players actually want to finish the mission to acquire such boost. Also in some missons fashion coupons would be a nice idea.

Now back to drop table - there is no reason of useless gear dropping, instead would be better to have feedstock dropped in greater amounts or replacing the white gear drops with anything else. Trust me, getting white weapon as a drop is not rewarding but annoying especially when you have +9 avatar weapon in your paws.

3> Dungeons:
Dungeons, dungeons, dungeons... it's all fine that there are solo versions of the dungeons and I like the idea, but the 5men dungeons are simply... too easy... with no effort you can solo any dungeon up to late elite dungeons of lvl 65... make them harder again. Hard enough to really require the tank and healer roles in the team.

4> World Bosses, Legendaries or whatsoever:
No point into killing them at all. You get nothing great from them. They should give some special drop to make them really wanted by all players. They should drop something that no other BAM would drop. Like.... their hearts........ and here look point number 6... buuuut number 5 first =3

5> OWPvP, GvG and Alliance Battles:
Make the fallen players drop something. And I don't mean their gear... nor their pants ofc 0.0.... Make them drop some kind of resource, another kind of currency, untradable, allowing to buy stuff from a special store which would have rare stuff either very hard to get or impossible to get in any other way.

6> Elite Status:
Make people able to... and here watch out... able to craft an elite status voucher.
BUT.
There is a trick:
To craft it someone would need:
- The very rare resources only craftable by masters of all craftings (which would be tradable), yes would 1 from each crafting spec
- 50k gold
- an Elite Token from killing spree rep store which would cost, let's say, 100k rep.
- 1 Heart of each World Boss. (dropped from them)
- all the hearts would be fused into something like "Spirit Of Legends" which would require 100% of the daily crafting/gathering bar and would require maxed rep, master of any crafting.
- 50k gold would be spend for a Elite Infusion which would be purchasable ONLY from Peddler walking around Velika.
- all the rare resources would be fused into "Velik's Breath" also using 100% of the crafting/gathering bar.
- having all four - Spirit Of Legends, Velik's Breath, Elite Infusion and Elite Token - we'd finally be able to craft the scroll having learned the recipe (master level, any crafting spec) dropped by.... our old friend... Shandra.

7> Optimization, again, but... "beta files"?
Make a dynamic choice of optimized ini files made by players (or by you). They do really help many people and some are too afraid to mess up the file structure to even try and hence they cannot enjoy the game with us.
I see it in a few possible ways:
During installation - you can ask a player whether they want to use 'beta optimization files - this decission can be changed later". If they do - the Installer will detect their Hardware and try to justify the optimized file best fitting to their hardware.
In launcher - add an option - beta optimization files with an option of "manual choice or auto detection" with manual choice - player would be able to choose alone from a few files which would be later on dynamically downloaded to their game folder. With autodetection - the launcher would choose which file would be improving their game experience the best.

8> Textures:
Under this point I mainly mean some of armors for Elin which I play the most, but if you have any other armors or weapons on your mind, feel free to add it.

So, I understand that you have censored some of Elin armors seeing it would be an appropriate thing to do because of their childish look and so on... but it was both - a mistake and simply ugly. Tera being a game targetted to mature players does not require censoreship.
Some of the censored armors look not bad, but some are simply terrible. With the fashions in the game and with Castanics running around naked, ninjas having no censoreship some fashions being even more 'body-showing', I suggest bringing back the original textures of armors, which are simply better-looking. It requires no effort from you, just copy-paste.

I see two possible ways to deal with it:
Either bring back the original to the game for all players, server-wise texture replacement
OR
Allow people to choose with some kind of "family filter" between 'censored and not censored" textures <- but here, mind you'd need to censore all remaining fashions, armors, for Elin and Castanics...
As for me, I see no reason to 'censore' toon or content in a game for mature people.

9> Skills Visual effects:
With all the new classes added to the game, the old classes look so poor and indeed old... make them flashy to fit the 'special classes'. There is tons of effects you could add or enhance to make them fit the old classes yet making them as eyecandy as the new ones. Don't let the new classes put veterans to shame.

10> Make the world evolve.
I thought it would be obvious since reaper has appeared - Pora Elinu being destroyed, many important people killed there, ruins and so on. Make the world evolve along the story.
How about making "the past vs the future"?
Make the normal Pora Elinu destroyed, would make sense of Reaper existance. BUT allow players to visit the old, untouched Pora Elinu where they could make quests, just like before. Along with the time travel (or maybe memories exploring, make it what you want), the Popolion and surroundings would be untouched too, green, pretty and so on. While the future, normal ones, would be as destroyed as the story suggests.

If a world evolves along with the story, lore starts making sense, and lore is the Achilles' Heel of TERA.
Focus on lore and make it one of the strongest features of the game.

aaaaand finally
11> Fashions like the Old Good Remodelling NPC could give us:
Make players able to create own ingame-armors-based fashions - make it even cost 1k... 2k... fashion coupons.

How it would work:
it would require the 'Fashion Link" bought with the fashion coupons and three pieces of a gear (does not have to be the same set) and the fashion link would combine them making an unique fashion, just like it was with our beloved, old NPC remodelling our gear. (or even maybe make us able to mix-match cloth/leather/metal armors for even more customization? maybe, but not necessary)

So... waiting your comments xD

Hello. I like reading ideas from others. Here's a few things you may want to consider about some of your ideas.

    1. I agree with open world being too easy, but it seems BHS fell into the "Game starts at 65" thing. A guy who posts around here often, called counterpoint, explained in short that games that grow old tend to lose the aspect of level progression and shift to fast leveling and end game gear progression instead. Something about the lines of not wanting to bog down new players wanting to catch up to end game, or people with alts. Level up dungeons and all open world has fallen into this. I believe AT LEAST something to have the game try to teach players should be implemented, but so far people are getting by, by learning their classes after reaching max level and being kicked from end game. Also, hard bams put in a corner, just for the brave and just for bragging rights, wouldn't hurt anyone.

    2. The rewads should be changed indeed, and non endgame feedsock should be plenty, but if there's way too much, a way for end gamers to not abuse of it should also be implemented. I mean, sure, you won't get much T10 feeds from combining T5s, unless there's a sure fire way to grab millions of those. So limits must still be put in place. Still, more meaningful rewards would be good.

    3. Same as number 1.

    4. Making world bosses way too wanted is open to abuse by the big, overwhelming guilds, preventing everyone else from benefiting.

    5. Sort of like 4, too open for abuse by people letting themselves be killed in turns to generate a resource.

    6. And again, too much power for the wealthy and the powerful guilds, able to get these in an instant, when your average small guild or solo player wouldn't be able to ever produce such a thing.

    7. The optimization part , I assume, is the responsibility of BHS. The game COULD use more options, and to fix some memory leaks and other derps. But not sure if adding even more intricate choices in the faces of people who know next to nothing about computers would be too beneficial. Sure, for those with the knowledge? Yes. Those with with a computer skill ranked as potato? They are actually better off with less options.

    8. What I'd like from elin censors is to actually make the censored parts re-colorable, not gone. Why? Quite a few of the uncensored models have HORRIBLE seams and even some have clipping and polygon separation problems (where you can actually see INSIDE the models). If you want uncensored, Google is your friend. Ways and methods about it cannot be talked about in these forums though, as they count as mods. But back to the idea, I would love it if they made the current shorts dyeable.

    9. Sorcerer will have a revamp soon, with different looking skills. For example, fireblast will become meteor shower, and magma bomb will be replaced by lightning. BHS said they will revamp old classes, though other than sorc and some stuff for archer, they have not shown anything else.

    10. Fate of arun as a new stage and the currently destroyed Island of Dawn mark something like this. I would like now that IoD gets it's blue sky back, in a sort of healing period where you'd still see the broken stuff, but AT LEAST the sky is not Mordor anymore.

    11. And nobody really knows for sure why the old remodeling was removed in favor of full outfits and the FC shop. Thing is, many people would LOVE to have the old remodel back.

Anyway, hope I covered most of it. Keep up with the imagination and ideas. That's wha the game suggestions section is for. :)
  • Remember - no challenge = no fun = boredom = less people playing

I do agree 100% with you on the game being too easy. but I think I know why BHS is doing this...

I love high execution challenges in several games such as RTS like Warcraft 3 and several fighting games like Street Fighter. I personally prefer RTS and fighting games, but what do these have in common?.. Very little player base compare to easier execution games like LoL or Hearthstone which currently have massive playerbase.
When the game is too hard, most people don't play.

Tera was(still is?) a harder skill execution MMORPG compare to several big names. But from what I see, the new classes bring back players and attract a lot more casual players that doesn't like hard mode. I have full cast of old classes(frustrating, challenging, but hella fun) and deleted the new classes I've tried. I'd be playing Seal Online if I ever want to spend time on the new classes.

So yeah, I'm quite disappointed on the game being too easy compare to older version of the game which I've never experienced. But I guess majority of the players does not like challenges. To them, easy mode + cute elins = fun XD. Majority of players defines the game, not us T.T

  • @Nopi ;

First of all, thankies for your reply and your thoughts about my suggestions~!! =D
Glad to see players who still care about this game and what could be changed to make it even better~ ^w^

I thought about your reply and came out with a few 'fixes?' 'clarifications?' .. those.. things.. to my suggestions to make them better... XD
    here they go:

as for the 4> indeed, it would make respawn points being abused... but there is a few ways to make it fair for all =3
my fav idea to deal with the problem is:
"instanced world bosses" - would be something like... you walk around and see a trace (which would be around a safe area) or w/e... which would last for a few minutes and would trigger a single time daily mission (so could be used only once a day) after getting the mission it would teleport you to 'instance' - same place but instanced with only the world boss there. Just like some of the 'defense missions' are. This way it would not be abused and still available for solo players.
The trace would respawn every two weeks, in one day of the week - let's say saturday only - once an hour - at random of four locations of a particular map.
That way any solo player having at least one lvl65 toon could also get them all. =3

    as for the 5>
    > lvl gapping up to 3 levels would help a lot - if a player who kills other is same level or up to 3 lvls higher they would get the drop from other player, if the pray is much lower level, nothing would drop.
    > Also there could be added a 'mark of death':
    > that mark would signal a PKer that a particular player has already been killed by him (only the PKer and the prey can see it, noone else)
    > the killed player having that sign is safe for 2 hours on all account toons from dropping the resource being killed by any toon of the account of the killer. So it would be account vs account.
    > killing the PKer back while having the 'mark of death' on self would result in - destroying the drop he just got from you and dropping his own resource which you can pickup
This would result of the player having one drop, the PKer none and they both are unable to get any drop from eachother anymore for 2h.
This way it would prevent - overflow of the resource, farming on own alts, killing lowbies.

    as for the 6>
putting the point number 4 in, the only thing a rich guild definitely would have easier would be the 50k gold, but I believe there are ways of getting it even being a solo player - myself got that amount within two weeks, playing solo. It is possible. The rest is all about using alts for other unique crafting goods, trading them (they would be tradable, as I mentioned) for other or buying them from other players, friends or whatsoever. Everything is possible and worth effort, I guess, having in mind you can craft something so worthy. =3

    @YellowGem ;
    Thankies for your reply~ ^w^

Indeed, the game used to be much more challenging back there and people were still playing it. And maybe majority is like easy = fun, but to be honest I've never seen a single player saying 'tera is too hard.. I quit...". The only thing I can see is "booooooooriiiiing..." all over the world chat... the 'boring' means there is nothing to do - nothing to do is because everything is too easy to kill, run and achieve. =3

waiting for more replies and your opinions guys~ ^w^

Good fixes. Right now my mind is pretty much somewhere else (thanks to life for that) so I'm unable to give a much proper response to these one. But they look like fairer versions of the above. This game is veering a bit more towards guild content on next patch but it's really not by much. In fact, pure solo players will not have an impact from the changes and small guilds will just be required to focus a bit more and do their homework. But other than that, the game stays pretty much the same. I say this because I believe the game must remain fair for solo players and group players if they want to keep both demographics.
