Let's Talk About Guilded Age

so far eme has revealed guild quests, guild levels, and guild skills and how they work. gvg is going to work like territory wars from pwi in a battle royal setting. this weekly event will reward guild members with a cut of the taxes collected on all merchant sales throughout the world of tera until the next civil unrest event.
that's awesome and great for people who are in guilds, but what about someone who aren't?
no one ever lets me in their guild, nor wants me. i have been guildless in all MMO's for 4 years because of it. do i get to enjoy all these nice things on september 20? probably not.
so basically this system will only be accessible by all the chads and staceys and will be used to circle-[filtered] eachother for gold while being used as ego fuel drama. the cycle will repeat for days months years.
why did bh have to make MORE exclusive content? i won't even be allowed in my system guild anymore because eme/bh whoever couldn't leave that alone and took it away too for the sake of their clique mindset which they force on us. NO, YOU HAVE TO BE IN A GUILD LIKE ALL THE OTHER KIDS TO PLAY NOW!
patch is in 4 days though, it's probably way too late to complain now. oh well.
i hope you all enjoy reading about my sad life on here and opinion on this while laughing at how pathetic it seems to you in the safety of your guild chat. it will give you another topic to talk about and laugh at someone's expense. please upvote and subscribe with all your friends,

I get where you are coming from. I've been a solo player as well for a while now. No need to get bent tho, man. I know there are social and PvX guilds that will give you a shot and help you learn, no matter which server you play on. You just have to spend a little time socializing and getting to know more people. In the past couple weeks of actually hanging out and chatting, instead of just farming and PvP, I've made lots of friends and even rejected a few invites. Will probably be joining one this weekend, as a matter of fact. If you are on MT server shoot me a message in game and I will introduce you to some hella cool people.

Go to the guild recruitment section here in this forum and create a thread there, state exactly how you play (and what you play, pvp, pve, end game, DSL or DSU), what you expect from a guild, and what a guild should expect from you.

I myself are still a foreveralone, and will have to decide if to take it slower with this game or finally try to break myself from my social stigma in game and TRY to be less shy, if the content does heavily impact solo players.

Though, even I, a foreveralone, know that mmos are meant to be eventually played with others, even if they facilitate some solo play.

There's enough solo content for players that want to. If you want to participate on the new GvG content... Well, you'll just have to make more of an effort to join a guild. :p
  • I don't think gvg will be that similar to pwi's territory war... If anything it might be more similar to ToS's gvg.

You shouldn't have to isolate yourself if you want to participate in these events. War aside because most casual pve guilds get waffle stomped, the other content you can do with a bunch of friends in a guild of your own!!

    Best of luck :D

The only thing that has always bothered me about tera's guild war system is that for the most part they make it so the strongest guild (aka the most capable of abusing the system) can get something from other players in the game (in this case taxes) so they can become even more powerful. This has created and continues to create a system in which instead of giving opportunity to other guilds to catch up, it extends the gap between the winning guild and the rest. It happened with Vanarchy system, happened with Alliance, it will happen here as well in my opinion. So at least in the core of gvg, do not expect fairness.

I never minded titles and e-peen associated with being on the winning guild, but when I am forced to pay to that winning guild if I ever have to buy a potion in game, then I feel there's some issues with fairness there. And yes, I may be mistaken in a few things (when not? <.<) and from what I understand, the tax doesn't mean they can control the prices of things or make them higher priced, as was the problem with Vanarchy. But still, money that's supposed to go into the gold sink of the game is instead arbitrarily returned to the people who need it the least. Though I suppose it would be the same as giving them a fat lump of gold as a set price.

I can't do this, that's way too difficult for me. That's why I'm not guild material, and guilds don't want me in their guild. I've learned to accept this after the many years of solitude in which I have no friends either.

    read previous reply.
also i don't even do any of the pve pvp stuff in this game, so i can't even be good at that. dungeons require an actual group to do and the last time i ran a dungeon was bathysmal rise pre hard mode through instance matching. no one says anything in chat and just leaves even though i have right crystals and everything. happened 3 times in a row before i just stopped bothering.

as i said before that's impossible, that is only good advice for the not completely hopeless player like me.

exactly, i wish it would work like nexus where an invite would send itself during the event if you were standing in the area so you wouldn't have to be in a guild to participate.
also this and tw are pretty much the same, both guilds defend their crystal (except replace crystal with guild tower).
i'm not in a guild, so i won't get to "do other content" either or this civil unrest thing.

....uh, Sorry to sound bad. I don't mean to sound rude or like a douche, but, you should evaluate then what are you doing in an mmo at all. If you haven't realized yet, each and every mmo out there, no matter how much solo content it comes with, will have some part of it, usually end game, walled into group only stuff. So you will need a group. Instance matching can only go so far. To mmo you have to also socialize at some point. This is simply 100% meant to be in mmos. I have been soloing at it pretty much all my time, but I also know I'm extremely limited in my end game, and since I'm also time strapped nowadays I preferred to help a bit here on the forums.

Know what I spend most of my in game time nowadays? Leveling new alts through dungeons. As in, random group content. I log in for an hour or two once every few days, helping newbies when I can in those dungeons using my knowledge of them, and having a laugh or two with random people (because the toxics are usually at top end game and most people before that are very friendly). So in essence, me, the forevelalone, is socializing in some way at least. You should try it man, not everyone is out there to hate you. :3

Not too much into joining a guild either, mainly becasue I don't like talking to people and I kinda feel pressured to play every day if I join one. But with this patch you just gotta live with it.

There's a guild for everyone out there, some don't need you to be there 24/7 or do like 20 dungeons a day. I think it'll get easy to find a fitting guild.
  • @RRTEHWMP7A that sounds a little strange for an experience...xD I highly recommend joining maybe a casual guild at least. You can benefit from the guild skill stuff while still doing your own thing. You're free to join the guild I'm in if you're on FF x3 I think we're friendly enough.
  • gvg system is replacement for alliance/crusades, which are both guild activities as well. if you didn't want to do them then you wont want to do them as well.

i'm playing this game because the only thing keeping me here are my characters and all the time invested in them. i started this game already knowing mmorpg element aspects would be impossible. that doesn't bother me so much as the fact that bh wants to remind me even more.
but it sure feels like they're all out to hate me. pre 65 dungeons were just parties of two blitzing through. that wasn't so bad as being threatened to not leave the party and stay out of the way or else they'll find my house and rape and kill my mother.

why is it strange. all the guilds get to have their fun, and all the third wheels get to hang on their coattails without being bothered.
you don't want me in you rguild trust me, the most casual guild didn't either. their officers go dead silent on me after i tell them i'm never online, too unsociable to adhere to the friendly quota, rookie in everything, bad at pvp, don't use ts, too paranoid to use other social networks and also i'm not on ff either.

Sorry that you are having such a bad experience in parties. I don't do HM end game, and I'm very shy in game as well. The kind of shy that freezes stuck when I know someone is checking out my character. I'm also kind of deaf and English is not my main language, so voice chat is a bit beyond me, and voice chat is nearly required for top end game to coordinate stuff on the spot unless all players in party are so good that they don't need to talk at all. But out of that, I have never found myself in a situation where a player, much less more than one, could go so salty as to change my whole view of how people conduct themselves in a game. So, really, you must have had quite the bad experience for that to happen.

So perhaps if you open up here in the forums first, you may get some friends who can then play with you in game. maybe that perfect friendly guild as well. I mean, humans are far from perfect, but as the only sentient race around here, we should at least give em a chance.
  • @RRTEHWMP7A I say it strange because it sounded like you let one bad run get to you.

Anyways from how you described yourself seems like you're isolating yourself from others as well because you think they wouldn't want you around. S:

As Nopi says, give us (other people) a chance, at least. XD

Guilds are like sport teams, some are great and others suck. I've played mmo's since EQ, guilds are only as good as the people in them. All these "cool" people play at either different times or on completely different servers. Guilds in a MMO are never a guarantee to end game content. Many are full of personal drama. Many self destruct and you feel more like a bystander than a guild member. Over 20 yrs not much has changed and not much has been missed. Finding that great group of people is like winning the lottery or being struck by lightning. Either stay with the game and hope for the best or just ignore the whole thing and continue doing what you have been doing.
