Island of Dawn Lore with Guilded Age Patch

Since Alliance is being removed with the Guilded Age patch, what will happen to the storyline of the Island of Dawn, which revolves around the strife of the three Alliance factions? Are the Alliance factions still going to be existing in-game and we, as the players, simply cannot participate in it? Will their activities be moved to more of a background/clandestine operation rather than a full-out Conflict as shown in the Alliance content? *All these rhetorical questions are lore-wise, by the way. Clearly it's just going to be dead and inoperable content in-game.

I'm just curious about the lore continuity since, if Alliance no longer exists as playable content in-game, it may be confusing for the new players (and the minority of said new players who actually read the lore) to do the Island of Dawn quests for the beginning 65 gear, only to have absolutely no idea or concept of what the Free Traders Collective/Enlightened Union/Iron Order are. That'd be pretty weird to have important-looking NPCs with no relevancy in-game anymore (looking at you, Glyphmasters and Skill Instructors and the Practicum/Dire Badge merchants and the Molten Token and Argon Essence exchange NPCs.)

*I'm also highly aware that BHS sucks at lore consistency. I'd like to know if EME has anything to say about it, however.

I personally believe the IoD story will remain the same for now, so alliances will technically still be around lore-wise.

So do you think EME will remove said Alliance NPCs? What about the storyline then? Who's gonna be giving the player instructions to figure out why the [filtered] the tree is on fire? (I'm talking about the actual IoD storyline, NOT the gearing quest that takes place in IoD.)

If my guess is right, the 3 alliances will be disbanded due to their involvement to the destruction of the world tree. With the alliances gone, former guilds who used to stand under the same banner now fight for their own glory, bringing back the conflicts that the Valkyon federation tried to prevent, and push Velika into the vortex of chaos.

Most of the npc might be removed after the guild patch, and maybe they'll add a cinematic to explain the transition from alliance conflict to guild war.

Uh. Is this what will happen or is this just an assumption? Have you seen any hints in the other regions about the IoD story changing or moving forwards? Cuz I'd really love it if they finally gave IoD it's blue sky back, you know.
  • Keep in mind that the traitor dude still refers to what you did on IoD rather than stepstone Isle when you hit reach velika for the first time in the story

Chances that anything about this will change is very slim
  • Keep in mind when you do this new GvG you are sent to the past when Velika wasn't so peaceful.

On the note of alliances given how the new GvG system will work it is safe to say along the lore lines that the Federation finally put down the hammer and disbanned the alliances by force.

Don't forget that new player characters have fake credentials/reports saying you're from island of dawn as a soldier, so traitor guy still thinks you were there even though you weren't.

The Samael story was either changed a lil bit to fit him into Stepstone Isle, or the stories where meshed together. When Tera was released, we could 'preview' our characters at level 20. That was Elleon's First Expedition. That meant that characters made in that time were by lore, personally known by Elleon as his soldiers.

The second Expedition (Tera's original level 1 to level 11 zone) saw at first those same characters recovering from the First expedition, and volunteering into the second one to find their boss Elleon. When the level 20 preview was removed, all mention of your character being part of the First Expedition was also removed, and instead they were just plain new recruits assigned there by Samael (he assigned recruits and not pros hoping the expedition would fail, of course).

Now, Samael is part of Stepstone Isle's plot as the one commanding the argon forces into removing the ability for the Federation to foresee the future, so the argon war could go on without problems. When speaking to him for the first time, he will mention he doesn't remember the player, but because rookies all look the same he probably forgot the player's face. Its odd he doesn't remember the player from when he saw him pretty much face to face at the invasion with the argon bam on the village. Plot holes i suppose.

As for IoD, there seems to be no influence from Samael or the argons there. it all was an internal plot by the alliances to plainly gain power over the others. The castanic rogue fooled the three alliances by telling them the tree had a sap that could grant them immense power, prompting the iron order aman to actually destroy the tree to look for that sap.

As for guilded age, ys, it's stated in the front page that it's a story that happened in the past. Not sure if time travel will actually be involved, or a rift, or whatever. Any time someone decides to create a story that happens in the past or in the future in an mmo, risks a LOT of plot holes anyway. And tera may already have enough of those scattered about. :/

I wish I could find a full plot for TERA so I could know the lore without being overly confused and reading into the stuff being said because honestly I hate reading that stuff... I wish they would add voiceovers to this like SWTOR started up. First game I ever knew the story for lol.

Probably made to shut up. We will miss that guy who says "I want to join a guild but my wife won't let me." He's a hero of all men and an example for generations to come. :3
