You are arguing that it is not P2W because it doesn't match your personal definition of P2W by virtue of the strength of the boost.

My opinion is that you need to have set of rules which govern what you cannot do, an MMO selling stat boosting gear on the cash shop is wrong even if the boost is of no particular significance. The reason why is that if you allow small stat boosts then the boost will get stronger and stronger over time until the game can hardly be viewed as no longer P2W.

The stat boost from the dragon mount is hardly significant but they are possibly the strongest cash shop stat booster that the game has ever had and people are already running dragon only SSHM runs on TR. This is likely to lead to stronger and stronger cash shop stat boosters and may one day result in the game being unplayable without massive cash shop purchases. This is future state of the game that I would prefer to avoid and we won't avoid it if we don't oppose the tiny steps towards P2W now.

My opinion is that an MMO should never sell any stat boosting cash shop only items irrespective of how tiny the boost is.

This is a policy most MMO's start out with but change the policy as the game gets older and fewer people play it, in 2012 when I started playing, you could only buy non-tradeable costumes and nothing else. Later they made costumes tradeable, then they added consumable's and finally they added stat boosting innerwear which could be farmed with great effort in game. The next step toward P2W would be to add cash shop only stat boosters and I am certain that a loyal inner circle of players will claim they are not P2W.
  • Dragon mounts should sell pretty good without the crit passives just like the fashionable innerwear would without their attached stat bonuses. Not sure why the brilliant minds at BHS keep bundling cosmetics and stat boosting elements together instead of using those perks as incentives for playing the game or through ingame achievements.

Also, down with RNG loot boxes.
  • teras always been p2w fantards.......go look at BDO and now look at Tera

u sell cash shop items with real money to buy gold to buy BIS gear or mats.
Thats not p2w ok fanboys virtually almost every f2p game have p2w elements.

    DCUO
    Tera
    Vindictus
    Elsword

list goes on its not uncommon the one who pays typically ends up better off its how game designed.
Only reason Tera can possibly lable itself as f2p is because freemium which is their business model falls under the f2p category but I digress look up what freemium means.
