  • Indeed such a great event. I was AFK and idk why I resolved to take part on this event, but wow, it was amazing.
  • I don't think Spacecats should be restricted from doing impromptu events, given that there are also announced events as well. Impromptu events have the benefit of being able to experiment with new things to see if they'll work on a smaller and less-expectant audience than if something was formally announced. If everything has to be announced in advance, it increases the pressure, and when too many people show up with larger expectations, so does the lag and subsequent disappointment. Plus, with impromptu events, he can do it any time he has some free time, whereas if he's not allowed to do that, he would have the time to do something but can't due to perceived unfairness.

So anyway, I say impromptu events are good and should stay, so long as there continue to be regularly-scheduled events as well.

The impromptu events aren't the issue, it is the large amount of rewards that they are giving out during these events. I was able to take part in the mongo event and made out like a bandit; others that were not able to take part not only feel cheated because they missed out on an event, but also feel screwed because of the massive rewards. My guild missed out on the impromptu guild quest that gave guilds 4 levels for participating in 1 world boss kill; not only did I not get to kill the world boss and have a chance at imperator box drop.. but now my guild is also behind by 4 levels. Seems pretty fair that we have been busting our [filtered] to do guild quests and other guilds gain 10x the experience we did because they were on at the right time.
  • Earthlings have a habit. Every year, around march/april, the large earthlings hide chocolate and eggs somewhere outside and the small earthlings are searching for them. Every year, some small earthlings find more chocolate than other small earthlings. This results in an earthling emotion, called "jealousy". The earthlings start to fight each other.

We believe the same is going on here. We have the happy earthlings here. And the unhappy. But since they can't fight physically in a forum, they start to rant. Ayy lmao
  • Another missed out Mongo event. But i had to work...
Just like the last Mongo event....
RL sucks, let me tell you :(
Grats to the people who got to participate. More materials for you!
  • Stopped logging in due to lag only to get screwed over even more.......come on

Is this supposed to be some sort of compensation or will it be ongoing? At least make people aware that 'surprise events' are a thing again, been so long I probably wouldn't even notice if I was logged in
  • I only made it for the last quarter of the event since I just got home from work.

Was pretty cool watching everyone fail queen mechanics and wiping out half the channel via insufficient royal fffffrrrrrrrt waves of death.

That's worth more than the alk drops if I may say so myself.
  • @Spacecats do you look at the estimated player peak when you do these events or is it random? (Given im assuming there during the day in NA or at least when enmasse is open for the day)

A few of my guildmates and myself were in a dungeon when the event started, but we were able to make the last 45 minutes of it. Was actually pretty fun. Thanks for hosting it!
  • I am glad I have a puppy I have to let out in the morning, otherwise I would not have been up at 6am. It's fun being in a raid and res'ing the dead with my mystic. And it almost got the lowest FPS, I had ever had. 4 FPS. Still has yet to beat Forsaken Island's last boss which is 1 FPS.

unannounced events seems more like a private server, sadly this is not a private server please take the time to host these kinds of events dont make events when you feel like it this isnt how it works and by doing so this creates unbalance on in game economy i though this was a serious company with a serious staff again please then again announce the events with time and on forums and ingame

Well, on this front, they really can't win. When there's any sort of event with bad rewards, people complain that they wasted their time. When there's an event with good rewards, but other miss out for whatever reason (whether it's announced or unannounced), people complain that it's not fair they missed out. We can imagine that there's some sort of magical "just right" point, but it's really hard to have that be implemented in-game and apply equally only to those who participate; they've tried to do rewards that distribute to all those who get one hit, but even that's not fair to healers. When they do codes that are only supposed to be for people who participate, they get leaked. When they create long-term open events with good rewards, people find ways to exploit it. If they cut back the rewards in light of that, people who weren't exploiting say it's unfair. They schedule events in North American prime time, people in Europe and Asia complain that they're left out. They schedule weekly events on Saturday and people who work on Saturday complain. And on and on and on...

I honestly think you'd drive yourself crazy if you tried to reconcile all this stuff; you'd be better off to not do anything, because then it's not "unfair" to anyone. Except then people would complain you're not doing events; one of the most common community requests for the last few years was more impromptu GM events...

Specifically, in the grand scheme of things, these four early levels are not that much and there'll presumably be other activities. There's no way to run an event like of this style and make it "fair" to everyone, and if you gimp the rewards people will complain. So I think the answer is still: stay the course.

stay the course of the current garbage? you know you used to actually present valid points and stuff but since the player council thing all you do is basically side with eme on any and everything. acknowledging the dragon mount passive issue but saying hey you can still get one by paying money, come on be real they did that to push cash shop sales. and these insanely stupid events, i play and i mean actually play the game every single day once i have time, i lost all the time i had yesterday to farm my stuff, what do i get 3 vet reset scrolls, how great, people who afk around and do little to nothing but are just logged in for long periods guess what some of them or rather most of them got? 2k+ of each premium and ext alkahests, 600-800 gf tokens, hundreds of spellbinds etc. alot of these events are just bug f u's to people who really play the game and just free hand outs to those who mainly do nothing and are just there logged in for the sake of being online at the specific time and joining the event. honestly the stupidity running through the minds of the people at eme with these last set of events is mind boggling and thats something you cannot deny no matter how eloquently you try to phrase it.
