whats going on with etching craft?

hello, lets start i've collected over than 150 scarabs each over a week( yes i cant afford so much crafter's cure) to get only 13 white dendrites, of these 13 only 1 fricking permanent grounded 2, of these 1 fricking etching got 0 permanent grounded 3( yes i've used master additive, which in my opinion is more like 25% less chance) and this is not the first time i try to make grounded 3 i've already spent 5 perm grounded on this over a month, i know my question is tottally stupid, in the end i just wanted to share this with u all, but if someone know what the $%¨& is going on please help me, maybe is the race: elin, maybe is the class: warrior, idk...

There is no evidence supporting @streetdog's statement. As far as I know, Crit Factor does NOT enhance your chances on critting in etching. I'm as master in etching and I've done some probability testing to tell you that you have at least a 30% - 35% chance of critting without Additive. With the Artisan Additive, I had a probability rate of 50% - 55%. I've not tested enough Master Additive to give you a probablity rate.
On another note, I feel that etching crits were nerfed a while back from 50% - 55%, to 30% - 35%.
  • Well, considering that in NA we aren't getting the consumables that guarantee even a 100% crit success on crafting, you can check them while crafting in the additive boxes of the crafting window.
  • I'm a Master in Etching and Mystic even if with Aura I'm having hard time to crit since last patch. it is ridiculously bad. before I could crit between 6 to 8 keen II in 20 tries. not using any additive or anything.
NOW with With the Artisan Additive tried it many time I always do 20 tries I only was able to crit 3 Keen II. I spend lot of time and cure crafter gathering scarabs which they are ridiculously rare . I stopped crafting now and no longer doing it. I even if sent a Ticket to Tera I tough there is a bug or something that need to look at it but seem there is something fishy . to me you have to buy more and pay real $$ more to win.
  • And this is why I said open world gathering and etching need to be a event buff Tonka use to do it all the time so it was abit easier back then lol so people can get there stuff right now it kinda dead part of the game and only the rich stock piled players can afford to waist gold and time one it so I'm hoping @spacecat show some light on this as a event to etching are also avaliable from ace dg that is if you want to farm it as a prest. ..
  • Let me get this out of the way right now before I go any further: The ONLY THINGS that affect crit chance are additives. Nothing else.

Yeah, etching, while it can be very lucrative, can also be very costly. More and more things rely on RNG as you climb up towards that highly prized tier III etching, and not critting on a level iii is definitely a massive downer. The only advice I can give you is to moderate everything. Keep steadily building up mats like you had been doing over that month, but not just scarabs. Build up on EVERYTHING, like dendrites, aterstod oil, titan's fires and peaces, additives, etc. Find an armorcrafter who will craft aterstod oils from the Gods Tears you should have gathered from gathering for scarabs. Do whatever you can to avoid needing to spend gold on mats. I personally only spend gold on additives, since there isn't really any other way to get them right now. All of this helps to make it less painful when that Grounded III etching decides "Nope, [filtered] you, here's a green".

If you ABSOLUTELY NEED THE ETCHING RIGHT NOW, then either
    1. Just buy it
    2. Be ready to spend a lot of gold (possibly even more than if you had just bought the etching itself) on mats/cures trying to craft it
  • First off like to put out there any master etcher that crafts in bulk eventually becomes slightly superstious. From dancing, teabagging, to using crit items ( I dance and use crit stuff but really doesn't seem to matter lol) I have found certain times and days you seem to crit more. Even may have to do with relogging idk cause I've gone from god awful crits to hitting back to back. Best advice is to know when to walk away and come back to it in a few hours. Also bulk don't do 1 here 1 there statistically your gonan fail. You build up and do it just like awakening your odds of getting a crit are better.
  • thanks to all of you for the help like eishaa said will be more pattience now
