Many problems

I've had many problems today:

Floating heads, my weapons skins being invisible, and the flying mounts not having any animation at all or wings.

Furthermore, I went into a dungeon for the first time today, as soon as it loaded - the game crashed / closed. Now every I launch TERA and get to the character select screen - when choosing my character, the game loads - then quickly shuts down and closes.

Can any one help me with my dilemnas?

  • Remove your mods and try again.
  • I've never messed with mods in TERA ever. So any other help?
  • The only other thing I can think of is that some of your files didn't patch correctly, so I might try a repair from the Tools section of the Launcher.

Floating heads and invisible weapon skins only happens when you run around with outdated mods. Like the elin decencor mod and the ear and tail color mod. Your elin will just be a floating head at that point. Weapon skins don't show up because of a costume mod and/or a weapon skin mod

I know for a fact that the decencor mod and the ear&tail mod have caused friends of mine's game to crash, so just turn that one off

IF you do indeed have no mods, then the problem is patch related. To explain in a bit technical way, when releasing other patches in the past, the devs just added more gpk files for the assets like armor models and all that. This time around they instead edited the old elin cloth gpk and replaced our file with this updated gpk. This explains the floating heads on modded clients if the user has the mods in a separate folder or a separate modded file with the .patched sub name. In essence, this current patch rendered old mods useless.

What could have happened in your case(taking your word that you did not mod the game) was that the elin cloth file didn't update, so a repair might be of use.

Hopefully I'm not getting into trouble by sharing what little I know about this subject, just for the sake of information and maybe to persuade people to not mod the game because things like this can eventually happen anyway.
